Pattaya Attractions: What to See and Do

Many still see Pattaya only as a party resort with a questionable reputation. And that's a real shame. Yes, there are almost no historical monuments like Bangkok's palaces here, but Pattaya is the true epicenter of entertainment for all of Thailand. You won't be bored here, whether you're a family with kids, a solo traveler, or an adrenaline junkie.

The main magnets of the resort — the Sanctuary of Truth, the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Walking Street, and the Pratamnak Hill viewpoint — have long become its calling cards. But the list of interesting places goes far beyond these. Here you can feed elephants at a sanctuary, walk through a 105-meter underwater tunnel, see replicas of world landmarks in a miniature park, and even catch adult shows that are hard to find elsewhere. And the best part — almost all of this is easily accessible for independent visits.

How to Visit Attractions in Pattaya: Transport, Tours, and Important Details

Most parks and shows are located outside the city center, where public transport doesn't reach. So your options are: take a tour (often more cost-effective), rent a bike or car, or use a taxi.

Tours in Pattaya aren't just a checkbox — they're a genuinely convenient and economical way to go. Street travel agencies are on every corner, many with Russian-speaking staff. Prices in Russian are almost the same as English-language offers, which is rare for Southeast Asia. All the time, a ready-made tour costs about the same as buying an entrance ticket on your own, but with hotel pickup and drop-off included. So before deciding to go it alone, compare: ticket + taxi round trip is almost always more expensive than a tour. The exception is if you're traveling with a group or family, then a taxi might make sense.

Tip from personal experience: If you're visiting for the first time on a package tour, don't turn down the "free" orientation tour from your tour operator, even if it includes visits to jewelry or latex factories. First, they'll often take you to one of the paid parks (entry fee already covered), and second, the guide will give you useful country info that beginners will appreciate.

Getting around on your own:

  • Songthaews (share taxis) — only run along the main streets. You can get to Walking Street, Pratamnak Hill, Big Buddha, and the Tiffany/Alcazar shows. You can't reach other places.
  • Taxi — order via apps like Grab, Maxim, Bolt (Uber doesn't work). Around town from 100 baht, to the outskirts from 300 baht. But there's a catch: it can be hard to get a ride back from some attractions, and prices spike in the afternoon. Our hack: check the price in the app, multiply by 2–2.5, and try to negotiate with a street taxi driver for a round trip with waiting time. Often it's cheaper.
  • Renting a vehicle — a motorbike from 200 baht/day (we've seen 100), a car from 500 to 1000 baht. Keep in mind left-hand traffic and the need for an International Driving Permit. We've covered this in separate articles: what license you need in Thailand and rental tips.

Tours in Pattaya: Where to Find Them and Why Offline Is Easier Here Than Online

Unlike many SEA resorts, in Pattaya you won't need to search for tour kiosks — they're on every tourist street. Russian-speaking agencies are everywhere, the staff speaks Russian, and prices are transparent. If you want to compare options in advance or pay with a Russian card, you can book online. Below are trusted services we use ourselves:

  • Trip.com – the largest tour database, accepts Russian cards
  • Sputnik8 – tours in Russian, vetted guides
  • Tripster – private and group tours in Russian
  • GetYourGuide – international platform, lots of reviews

Parks and Natural Attractions

Pattaya and its surroundings have several large parks where you can spend half a day. From botanical gardens to animal parks — choose according to your mood.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

Panorama of Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in Pattaya
Nong Nooch Tropical Garden — the largest garden in Southeast Asia, spanning 2.4 square kilometers

The largest botanical garden in Southeast Asia, with thousands of orchids, palms, cacti, and landscaped gardens in various styles. Don't miss the colorful elephant show — elephants paint pictures, play soccer and volleyball. Plan for at least half a day to explore the grounds. It involves a lot of walking under the hot sun, so bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. The best value is to come here on a group tour or buy tickets online — cheaper than at the park's ticket office. .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Elephant shows and cultural shows at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM (held simultaneously in different zones).

Combo tickets with show and tram go up to 1000 baht. You can save by buying a ready-made tour or online tickets on aggregator sites. For example, on Trip.com (accepts Russian cards), a simple ticket + tour bus costs only 445 baht compared to 700!!!

🚶 How to Get There: Nong Nooch on the map. Easiest is a group tour (from 800 baht with transfer). On your own: taxi from the center — about 300 baht, or a rented motorbike (from 150 baht/day) or car. A budget but inconvenient option: the train to Suan Nong Nuch station. More details in the full description link.

Mini Siam Miniature Park

Mini Siam

Mini Siam is a park of miniature copies of famous architectural landmarks from around the world, combined with landscape gardening art. It consists of two sections — Mini Siam and Mini Europe. The first features copies of Thai architectural sights, and the second, accordingly, copies of Western architectural masterpieces. Among the exhibits, you'll find replicas of world wonders, including Russian landmarks: St. Basil's Cathedral and the monument to the defenders of Stalingrad on Mamayev Kurgan. The grounds feature miniature trees, replicas of gardens, flowerbeds, streams, and fountains. You can feed the fish in the park's lake and relax in the shade on its banks. In the evening, the lights come on, so it's best to come before sunset to see both daytime and nighttime Mini Siam. Overall, a nice place for a walk and some great photos, nothing more.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: adults – 300 baht (9.15 USD), children – 150 baht.

Million Years Stone Park and Crocodile Farm

Million Years Stone Park and Crocodile Farm

This scenic park covers over 70 acres (about 28 hectares), just a 15-minute drive from central Pattaya. It's a true "living museum" of three kingdoms of nature — animal, plant, and mineral. We recommend including it in your itinerary, especially if you're traveling with kids. On the grounds, you'll see amazing petrified trees over 100 million years old, trees over 200 years old shaped in Thai style, as well as picturesque gardens with dwarf trees, orchids, and bonsai. The main attractions are a large zoo with exotic animals (tigers, giraffes, elephants), Thailand's largest crocodile farm with thousands of crocodiles, and a thrilling crocodile show. All covered by a single ticket.

Practical Info

Website: https://www.thaistonepark.org/

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Crocodile shows are held 8 times a day: 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 PM.

🚶 How to Get There: the park is located east of Sukhumvit Road in northern Pattaya (Million Years Stone Park on the map). The easiest option is to buy a ready-made tour from street travel agencies or online — the cost ends up about the same as getting there and buying tickets on your own.

Temples and Sacred Sites

Although Pattaya isn't famous for ancient temples, a few sacred sites are worth your attention. They offer a glimpse into Thai Buddhism and local traditions.

Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai)

View of the golden Big Buddha statue atop the hill in Pattaya
The main statue on the hill – an 18-meter seated Buddha, visible from many points in Pattaya

An active temple atop a hill with an 18-meter golden Buddha statue. People come here not so much for the architecture (it's more modest than Bangkok's), but for the peaceful atmosphere and unusual statues — including the "Emaciated Buddha" from his ascetic period. It's a great addition to a walk on nearby Pratamnak Hill with its viewpoint. Entry is free, but remember the dress code: covered shoulders and no shorts above the knee. Easily accessible on foot from the Pratamnak or North Jomtien areas, or by songthaew. .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: free (donations welcome).

🚶 How to Get There: Big Buddha Hill on the Pattaya map. From the center, it's about 2 km on foot from Walking Street or the Pratamnak area. By songthaew (15 baht) — get off at the turn to the hill and walk 500 meters.

Sanctuary of Truth

Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya
Sanctuary of Truth — a 105-meter wooden structure on the seashore

A giant wooden structure on the seashore, 105 meters high, every inch covered in intricate carvings. Tourist reviews are mixed: some call it a masterpiece and a great photo spot, others find it overrated. The entrance ticket isn't cheap, and you tour it wearing a helmet (restoration work is constantly underway). There's also a strict dress code: covered shoulders and no short shorts or skirts. The easiest way to get there is by taxi, though songthaews are possible with a long walk. .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: daytime visit (8:00 AM–5:00 PM) — 500 baht; evening with show (6:20 PM–7:30 PM) — 700 baht; children under 140 cm — free. Online on aggregators is often cheaper.

🚶 How to Get There: Sanctuary of Truth on the map. Located in the northern Naklua area, too far to walk. Taxi from the center from 100 baht. Budget option: songthaew along Naklua Road to Soi 12, then nearly 2 km walk towards the beach.

Wat Yanasangwararam Woramahavihara Temple

This is a truly beautiful and remarkable temple. Pattaya isn't overflowing with beautiful, significant temples, and if you weren't able to visit the temples of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or other parts of Thailand during your holiday, then you should definitely make a point to visit this one. Its design is very unusual, as is its name, which is almost unpronounceable. The temple is relatively new, built in 1976, which explains its unique design. But it's known not only for its unusual appearance but also because, it is said, the relics of Buddha are kept in a stupa on the grounds, and a replica of Buddha's footprint is displayed in another building on site.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: free.

🚶 How to Get There: only by taxi or rented transport. The temple is located 15 kilometers from Pattaya (Wat Yan Temple on the map).

Buddha Mountain (Khao Chi Chan)

Buddha Mountain (Khao Chi Chan)

This is a mountain where a massive 130-meter-high and 70-meter-wide image of a seated Buddha was laser-engraved into the cliff face. It was created in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of King Rama IX's reign, and the lines are filled with gold. The impression from visiting is truly powerful: when you stand at the base, you realize the scale of the work. The area features well-maintained gardens and ponds, cared for by the Royal Thai Marine Corps. Despite the tourists, there's a sense of calm here. It's especially beautiful at sunset. It's not a must-see destination on its own, but worth a visit if you're passing by.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: free.

🚶 How to Get There: the mountain is about 20 km south of Pattaya (Khao Chi Chan on the map), reachable only by taxi or rental car. Visiting the mountain is included in many sightseeing tours.

Viewpoints and Panoramas

To see Pattaya from above, you don't need to rent a helicopter. Just climb one of the hills — the views are postcard-perfect.

Pratamnak Hill Viewpoint (Pattaya View Point)

Panoramic view of Pattaya from Pratamnak Hill
This is the view most often used on postcards and in promotional videos about Pattaya

The main viewpoint in Pattaya, where those picture-perfect shots of the resort are taken — a panorama of the city beach, the Gulf of Siam, and the Bali Hai Pier. At the top, you can not only take photos but also relax in a park with paths and exercise equipment, see a monument to the revered Thai Prince Chumphon, and just below — the large letters "PATTAYA CITY". Everyone should come up here to appreciate the scale of the city from above. Easily accessible on foot from the Pratamnak or Jomtien areas, or by songthaew for just 15 baht. .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: The main viewing platform near the monument is open from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM (sources vary). The area by the parking lot is accessible 24/7. The PATTAYA CITY letters are accessible anytime and are lit up in the evening.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: free. Telescope — 10 baht, photo on a mug — about 200 baht.

🚶 How to Get There: viewpoint on the Pattaya map. From the center, it's about 2 km on foot from Walking Street or from the Pratamnak area. You can take a songthaew (15 baht) — get off at the turn to the hill and walk 500 meters.

Entertainment and Shows

The main evening attractions in Pattaya are colorful performances and unusual museums. From family-friendly cabarets to adult shows — everyone can find something to their taste.

Underwater World Pattaya

Underwater World

An aquarium showcasing marine animals of the Gulf of Siam. The aquarium is built as a 105-meter-long tunnel and is divided into 4 zones. A great place for kids.

The first zone features beautiful and rare fish species. The second zone — cartilaginous fish, including sharks and rays. The third zone — commercial fish species and turtles. The fourth zone features fish from the Amazon River and the largest fish specimens.

Pattaya Elephant Village

Elephant Village in Pattaya: greeting guests
Pattaya Elephant Village — the oldest sanctuary near the resort

The oldest elephant sanctuary in Pattaya, founded back in 1973 as a rehabilitation center. People come here not so much for the show (you've probably seen similar elsewhere), but for a half-hour elephant trek through the jungle, feeding the animals bananas, and possibly participating in an elephant bath. The grounds are small, and after the main activities, be prepared for requests for additional tips. If your goal is only to see an elephant show, choose another park. But for riding and interacting with elephants, this place fully meets expectations, especially if you have children. .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Elephant rides start several times a day: roughly at 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 4:00 PM. It's best to book the ride in advance.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: entry + show — from 300 baht; entry + ride (45–50 min) — from 600 baht; combo (show + ride + feeding) — from 800 baht; elephant bathing — from 2000 baht. Bananas for feeding — 100 baht. Online tickets are often cheaper.

🚶 How to Get There: Located about 7 km from the center (Elephant Village on the Pattaya map). Easier and cheaper via tours with transfer. Taxi (Grab, Bolt) — 200–300 baht (harder to book a ride back, better to negotiate with the driver to wait).

Tiffany's Show Pattaya

Tiffany's Show (photo from tiffany-show.co.th)

This is one of Pattaya's two famous cabaret shows (the other is "Alcazar"). Opened in 1974, Tiffany's Show was the first such performance in Southeast Asia. It takes place in a modern 1000-seat theater featuring over 100 professional performers. It's a colorful musical and dance revue with elements of theater and circus. No vulgarity: the show is suitable for family viewing. In 2011, the show ranked 4th in the world's best cabarets, after shows in Paris and Las Vegas. The 75-minute program includes 9 acts in various styles — from traditional Thai dance to modern pop and K-pop numbers.

Photo and video recording during the show is strictly prohibited. But after the performance, the artists come outside, where you can take photos (tip — 100 baht). The same building houses Tiffany's Indoor Shooting Range, where you can shoot real firearms.

Practical Info

Website: https://www.tiffany-show.co.th/

🕐 Opening Hours: daily, shows at 6:00 PM, 7:30 PM, and 9:00 PM. Show duration — 75 minutes.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: prices start from 1200 baht (36.6 USD) depending on seat category. Children under 100 cm are free but do not occupy a separate seat. It's best to buy tickets online, for example on Trip.com (accepts Russian cards and SBP) from 900 baht. They also have combo tickets with dinner or visits to other attractions.

🚶 How to Get There: the show takes place in central Pattaya on Pattaya Second Road (Tiffany's Show on the map). Many tickets already include hotel transfer.

Alcazar Cabaret Show Pattaya

Alcazar show (photo from wikimedia.org)

Alcazar is the other of Pattaya's two most famous cabaret shows (alongside Tiffany's Show). Essentially, it's not much different from Tiffany's — the program also includes traditional Thai dances, modern pop and K-pop numbers, bright costumes, and special effects. The theater seats 1200 spectators, and the show also lasts about 75 minutes. Photo and video recording during the show is prohibited. After the performance, the artists come outside, where you can take a photo together (tip — 100 baht). You just need to choose which one to attend, but based on reviews and ratings, Alcazar is slightly better.

Practical Info

Website: https://www.alcazarthailand.com/

🕐 Opening Hours: daily, shows at 5:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 8:00 PM, and 9:30 PM. Show duration — 75 minutes.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: prices start from 1200 baht (36.6 USD) depending on seat category. Children under 100 cm are free but do not occupy a separate seat. It's best to buy tickets online, for example on Trip.com (accepts Russian cards and SBP) from 900 baht (27.45 USD) or from street vendors.

🚶 How to Get There: the show takes place on Pattaya Second Road (Alcazar on the map). Tickets from street vendors may include hotel transfer.

Adult Shows

Pattaya is a city of sin. We can't fail to mention such a specific attraction as adult shows. These are not Go-Go bars, but other venues where girls (and sometimes men, or women paired with men) perform various "acrobatic" acts using their reproductive organs. They're called sex shows, ping-pong shows, or fucking shows. There's no denying it — these shows are not for children. The stunts performed by the participants are simply astonishing and deserve, if not admiration, at least surprise.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: Shows start after dark.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: prices vary greatly depending on the type and place of purchase, averaging from 600 to 1500 baht. The initial price quoted by touts is negotiable, and you can easily cut it in half. Prices at the box office on the spot are almost double what touts or travel agencies offer. And important! Have plenty of small denomination baht bills to tip the performers.

🚶 How to Get There: Shows take place in various clubs around the city. You won't have to search for them; just walk along the evening streets, especially Walking Street, and you'll be flooded with offers. To understand where you're being lured, touts will show you pictures and descriptions, including in Russian. Read carefully, or you might end up at the wrong show (e.g., with boys). Strictly speaking, these shows can be divided into two types: Ping-Pong shows and Fucking shows on Walking Street (held in small halls, semi-legal), and more professional shows with music and plot in large halls. Here are the most popular ones you can find on maps and read reviews: 99 Show Pattaya, IMAGINE 79SHOW, 69 Show, 89 Show, 99 Show.

Thai Massage in Pattaya

Shops like this with massage prices are on every corner

What would Thailand be without massage? In Pattaya, massage shops are on practically every corner, so you won't need to search. Prices vary, sometimes significantly, but that's only at first glance. Actually, a regular traditional massage costs about the same everywhere; anything more expensive is just a spa complex or massage with additional options (oil, herbal, etc.). We suggest trying a traditional Thai foot or body massage first, then something else if you like it (and who wouldn't?). And yes, you can easily find more explicit adult massages here, but that's a different story, unrelated to traditional massage.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: from morning until late evening.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: prices for a 1-hour massage start around 300 baht, but you can find 200 baht in the side alleys.

🚶 How to Get There: massage shops are everywhere; you'll easily find one while strolling around town. Massage is also offered in hotels, but it's usually more expensive.

Art in Paradise 3D Museum

3D Museum, Pattaya

The recently opened Art in Paradise 3D Museum is a new popular spot in Pattaya. It features over 150 paintings that you can pose in front of, and thanks to the optical effect, you become part of the scene, creating a sense of reality. This museum is especially interesting for those who love taking photos and for fun groups.

More about the 3D Museum in Pattaya and photos here.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM (ticket sales end at 8:00 PM).

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: adult – 400 baht (12.2 USD), child depends on height: under 100 cm – free, 100 to 130 cm – 200 baht (6.1 USD). Discounted tickets, almost half the official price, can be purchased on the aggregator Trip.com (pay by card or SBP).

🚶 How to Get There: The museum is at the end of Second Road, opposite Tiffany's Show, just before North Road and the dolphin fountain (museum on the map).

Monster Aquarium Pattaya

Monster Aquarium Pattaya

Monster Aquarium is an indoor oceanarium and petting zoo in northern Pattaya, in the Naklua area. According to reviews, it's a great place for both adults and children. There are fish, monkeys, turtles, flamingos, snakes, as well as goats, deer, and even tame rats. Many animals can be fed (food costs about 20 baht). For an additional fee, you can take photos with each animal. Air conditioning and fans work inside, and there are restrooms. Note: the petting zoo area has a specific smell, but it's generally clean. Allow 2–3 hours for a visit including feeding.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: adults and children over 140 cm – 300 baht, children 90–139 cm – 150 baht. Children under 90 cm – free. Tickets can be bought cheaper online on Trip.com: buy discounted tickets.

🚶 How to Get There: the aquarium is in northern Pattaya in the Naklua area, far from the beaches (Monster Aquarium on the map). Not walkable, no songthaews go here. Taxi from 100 baht.

Long Neck Karen Village

Karen tribe

Near Pattaya, there's a village where women of the Karen tribe, known for their brass neck rings, live. But this is not an authentic settlement; it's an artificial tourist village — essentially a staged performance. The Karen never lived here; their real villages are in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai). We cannot recommend visiting this place, nor similar ones in the north, because it resembles a human zoo. But if you're eager for an exotic photo, you can stop by. The grounds have several photo spots, a cafe, a small museum, and a slingshot shooting range.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: 200 baht per person.

🚶 How to Get There: the village is about 23 km from central Pattaya (Long Neck Village on the map). Reachable only by taxi (from 300 baht one way) or rented transport.

Ramayana Water Park

Ramayana Water Park is the largest water park in Thailand, located 25 km south of Pattaya. Opened in 2016, the park is designed in the style of the ancient Indian epic Ramayana and covers an area of over 180,000 sq. m. It features more than 50 water attractions, including 11 extreme slides for adults, the world's longest slide (240 meters), a wave pool, a 600-meter "lazy river," and two large children's play areas. The water is clean, the grounds are well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and prices for food and drinks inside are slightly above average for Pattaya. The slide with a transparent tube that creates a flying effect is particularly impressive. Ramayana is definitely worth visiting for both adults and families with children. Just keep in mind it's quite far, so plan to spend the whole day there.

Practical Info

Website: https://www.ramayanawaterpark.com/

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (closed on Wednesdays).

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: 1099 baht for adults and children over 106 cm. Children under 106 cm, seniors (60+ years), pregnant women, and people with disabilities — free (but seniors and pregnant women have limited access to pools only, no slides). Discounted tickets (cheaper than official site and box office) can be bought on trip.com and other aggregators.

🚶 How to Get There: the park is far from the center (Ramayana Water Park on the map). Taxi 300–400 baht one way. You can also book transfer on the official website (240 baht round trip on a minibus) or buy a tour with transfer from street travel agencies. Free parking is available.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo

Khao Kheow Open Zoo

Khao Kheow Open Zoo is one of the largest open zoos in Asia, located about a 45-minute drive from Pattaya. It covers over 2,000 acres, where more than 8,000 animals of over 300 species live in as natural conditions as possible. The zoo is divided into two zones: the green zone (you can walk, take a tram, or rent an electric cart) and the pink zone (drive-through in your own vehicle). They have elephant shows and penguin parades, and you can feed giraffes, deer, and other animals — food is sold at the entrance. The zoo is especially famous for its pygmy hippo named Moo Deng. It's best to go in the morning when there are fewer people, and the area is huge, so you can spend several hours exploring. Keep in mind: no public transport goes here, only taxi or rental car.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (entry until 4:00 PM). There's also an evening safari from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A museum of collector and traveler Robert Ripley, filled with exhibits that will make you question reality: mummies, strange artifacts, paintings made of garbage, and figures of the tallest people on the planet. Besides the museum, there are other attractions inside for an additional fee: the Infinity Maze, moving wax figures of celebrities (Wax Museum), a 7D cinema, and the "Pharaoh's Tomb" adventure-quest — a dark corridor with mummies and skeletons. Located on the upper floors of the Royal Garden Plaza mall (the one with a real plane embedded in its facade). An entertainment complex for those wanting to spend a couple of hours amazed and slightly spooked.

Practical Info

Nightlife and Famous Streets

The resort's nightlife is concentrated in a place that needs no introduction. But even during the day, there's plenty to see there.

Walking Street

View of Walking Street in Pattaya at night
Walking Street in Pattaya — probably the most famous street in all of Thailand

The epicenter of Thailand's nightlife, which by day looks like a regular road but after sunset transforms into a sea of neon, music, and thousands of people. The street is closed to traffic, and walking along it is free — you only pay for drinks or shows inside the venues. Even with children, you can come here early in the evening: all the explicit stuff is hidden behind closed doors, leaving only bright signs and a carnival atmosphere outside. Getting there is easy: from central Pattaya, you can walk, or from more distant areas, take a songthaew (15 baht) or taxi. .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: the street is open 24/7. The main action starts around 6:00 PM and continues until 2:00–4:00 AM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: walking down Walking Street is free. Drink and entertainment prices depend on the venue: cocktail in a bar – from 100 baht, entry to an adult show – from 600 baht.

🚶 How to Get There: Walking Street is in the center of the resort (Walking Street on the map). If you're staying in central Pattaya or the Pratamnak area — you can walk. Taxi from Naklua or Jomtien areas — from 200 baht. Also by songthaew along Beach Road or from other areas with a transfer.

Pattaya Soi 6 (Adult Street)

Evening atmosphere on Pattaya Soi 6, bar lights
Soi 6 — a street where Pattaya's nightlife is nothing like a family vacation

If Walking Street has gradually become a tourist attraction where you can even go with children, then Pattaya Soi 6 is a completely different story. This is a short street in the northern part of central Pattaya, lined entirely with bars and go-go bars. People don't come here to stroll or take photos under neon signs, but for adult entertainment inside the venues — to find a companion for the evening or night. The atmosphere is maximally explicit and relaxed. Don't come here with your family or expecting a "cultural" walk, but if you're a single man looking for a fun time — you'll be in your element.

Here's some advice from personal experience: never stay on this street or neighboring ones; you won't sleep at night due to the loud music.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: most bars open from 2:00–4:00 PM until late night; active life begins after 9:00 PM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: entry to the street is free, only pay for drinks and services inside the venues.

🚶 How to Get There: located in the northern part of central Pattaya, about a kilometer from Central Festival (Soi 6 on the Pattaya map). Easiest by taxi or mototaxi, or you can walk from Second Road or Beach Road.

Markets and Colorful Places

You can experience the atmosphere of a Thai market without leaving Pattaya. Even if it's a tourist attraction, it still has plenty of local flavor.

Runway Street Food Market (Night Market with a Plane)

Night market with a plane

Runway Street Food Market is a stylish night market in central Pattaya, whose main feature is a real Boeing 747 airliner (the famous "Jumbo") sitting right in the middle of the square. You can't go inside the plane; it serves as an art object, with cafe tables set up under its wings and fuselage. Recently, they also added a Ferris wheel called The View Ferris Wheel. Otherwise, it's a typical Thai night market with a huge selection of food, including exotics like crocodile meat, ostrich, and insects. Prices are slightly higher than in street cafes (dishes from 100 baht, drinks from 40 baht), but the atmosphere is worth it.

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: daily approximately from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: entry to the market is free. Ferris wheel — 480 baht for adults, 280 baht for children (10-minute ride). Food — from 100 baht, drinks — from 40 baht.

🚶 How to Get There: the market is in central Pattaya on Second Street (market on the map). If you're staying in central Pattaya, you can walk or take a circular songthaew for 15 baht. From other areas — taxi or songthaew with a transfer.

Pattaya Floating Market

Floating Market

If you haven't had the chance to visit the floating markets of Bangkok or provincial floating markets on tours around Thailand, here's your chance to experience this exotic attraction in Pattaya. Of course, the floating market in Pattaya today is not a real market. It's just a tourist attraction, where buyers are exclusively tourists, and the assortment consists of souvenirs, handicrafts, and Thai fast food. But if you have no other opportunity, why not come here? Just don't expect too much and be careful with purchases — everything is very expensive.

Terminal 21 Pattaya Shopping Mall

A real plane at the entrance — the main photo spot of Terminal 21 Pattaya

A large, new shopping mall in northern Pattaya that has become a major attraction for tourists. During the day, people come here for shopping (all brands, a large supermarket with below-market prices), and in the evening, just to stroll and have fun. Inside, there's a children's entertainment center with rides, a cinema, a food court, and chain cafes. The building is easily recognizable by the real plane at the entrance — a great opportunity for a unique photo.

Another huge, modern shopping mall in the heart of Pattaya where you can spend a whole day: shops of all brands, cafes, restaurants, and a wide selection of entertainment. In the evening, at the exit facing Second Road, a mini street food market opens up — here you should try grilled crocodile meat, exotic fruits, and other Thai treats. Conveniently located between Beach Road and Second Road, it's easy to pop into the mall on your way to the beach or after a stroll.

Day Trips from Pattaya: Bangkok, Ayutthaya, River Kwai, and Other Destinations

Once you've explored the local attractions, it's easy to take radial trips from Pattaya for 1–2 days. All the most iconic places — Bangkok, the ancient capital Ayutthaya, the war history of the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi, as well as the paradise Koh Lan island — are just a few hours away. Almost all destinations are accessible both by organized tour (sold on every corner, including in Russian) and on your own. Tours offer hotel transfers and guides; going solo requires figuring out buses and ferries in advance. The choice is yours.

Bangkok Temples: A Day Trip from Pattaya

Grand Palace in Bangkok

Day trips from Pattaya to Thailand's capital are regularly organized. In our opinion, this is one of those trips you should definitely include in your plan. There are many programs: from a standard visit to the Grand Palace and temples to dinner at observation towers. We believe that for a first visit, it's best to focus on the historic center — the Grand Palace, Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). The perfect ending is a boat ride on the Chao Phraya River or a visit to a floating market. Keep in mind: the drive from Pattaya takes about 2.5 hours one way, so the day will be packed, but the impressions are worth it. More details on .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: tours usually start early morning from the hotel (pickup around 7:00–7:30 AM), returning in the evening.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: group tours start from 2000 baht per person. Price varies greatly depending on the program, as it includes entry tickets to palaces, temples, and observation decks.

🚶 How to Get There: Bangkok is 150 km from Pattaya (Bangkok on the map). The easiest way is to buy a tour (you'll be driven there and back). You can go on your own by bus, but the time spent on transport and city travel will leave you barely seeing anything. If you want to go by yourself, we recommend allocating at least two nights in Bangkok and staying in the Khao San Road area — from there, the main temples are an easy walk.

Ready-made tours to Bangkok in Russian:

Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai

Erawan Waterfall in Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi province is one of the most fascinating places in central Thailand. Tours here are often called "Paradise on the River Kwai," and it's truly one of the most romantic and packed trips we recommend 100%. Depending on the program (usually 2–3 days), you'll see the historic Bridge over the River Kwai, soak in hot springs, visit the largest waterfall Erawan, and stay on a floating hotel. The program is very intensive and definitely worth the money. More details on .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: tours depart very early, sometimes even at night. Duration — 2–3 days / 1–2 nights.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: tours start from 2300 baht depending on the program and group size. We recommend paying a bit more for a small group in a minivan rather than a large bus.

🚶 How to Get There: Kanchanaburi province is 280 km from Pattaya, about a 5-hour drive (Kanchanaburi on the Thailand map). Theoretically, you could go on your own, but that's for experienced travelers only — you'd need to plan and book everything yourself plus find transportation. We recommend simply buying a tour, which are available everywhere and online.

Where to buy River Kwai trips:

Ayutthaya Ancient City

Wat Phra Mahathat Temple in Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya is the ancient capital of Siam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day trips from Pattaya are offered here, and that's enough to see the most important sights: temple ruins, the famous Buddha head in the roots of a banyan tree, and the statues at Wat Lokaya Sutha. There are tours that combine Bangkok and Ayutthaya in one day, but that's very rushed. In our opinion, it's better to take separate tours so you can explore each place calmly. More details on .

Practical Info

🕐 Opening Hours: tours depart early morning from the hotel, duration is one day.

💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price: tours start from 2200 baht per person depending on the program and group size.

🚶 How to Get There: Ayutthaya is about 250 km from Pattaya, about 3.5–4 hours by road (Ayutthaya on the Thailand map). A solo trip is possible but requires planning. We recommend buying a ready-made tour — that way you won't miss anything and won't have to worry about transport.
