ThailandIs It Worth Going to the PATTAYA CITY Letters? Our Honest Review and What You'll See
Pattaya City Sign Viewpoint with PATTAYA CITY letters (also known as Pattaya City Sign Viewpoint) is located on the slope of Pratumnak Hill, just below the main viewpoint at the top of Pratamnak Hill. This spot is often confused with the viewpoint at the very top, but they are actually two different locations, and we recommend visiting both in one walk.
The PATTAYA CITY inscription was installed in 2012 on the initiative of the city authorities – they wanted to create a recognizable symbol, similar to the famous HOLLYWOOD sign in Los Angeles. The letters, about three meters high, are made of durable materials resistant to the tropical climate, and in the evening they are illuminated with LEDs.
From the platform below the letters, there's a view of Bali Hai Pier, the port area of the city, and the Walking Street area. The view from here is, of course, inferior to the panorama from the main viewpoint at the top of the hill, but it's still a picturesque spot that allows you to see central Pattaya and the bay from a different angle.
Heart Photo Zone – The Perfect Spot for Selfies
Just above the main platform, there's another viewing point – a staircase leads up to it. There's a heart-shaped photo zone where you can stand and take impressive selfies with the city and the sea in the background.
10–15 minutes is enough to explore the letter platform. But if you have time, you can stay longer – sit on the benches and enjoy the view of the bay.
Our Verdict
Is it worth going specifically? This is a landmark spot that's worth visiting if you're already planning to go up Pratumnak Hill. It's probably not worth going here just for the letters – the views from the main viewpoint are still better. But as part of a walk around the hill, both viewpoints complement each other perfectly.

The platform is open 24/7. In the evening, the letters are illuminated with LED lights from approximately 6:30 PM to 4:00 AM.

🚶 How to Get There
The Pattaya City Sign viewpoint is located on the slope of Pratumnak Hill, about 400 meters from Bali Hai Pier (Pattaya letters on the map).
You can get here in several ways:
- On foot from Bali Hai Pier or Walking Street – walk to the lighthouse, and from there a staircase goes up. The climb takes about 10–15 minutes.
- From the main viewpoint at the top of the hill – a trail leads down the slope to the letters.
- By bike or car – you can drive almost all the way to the spot by entering "Pattaya City Sign" into your navigation. There's parking nearby.
To avoid getting lost on the slopes, we recommend using navigation – Organic Maps or Maps.me with offline tracks work best.
