Bus stations

Pattaya has several places where intercity buses depart. The main government station is the North Pattaya Station. Besides that, there are private terminals like Nakhonchai Air, the southern station in Jomtien, and T-Tour in the center. Below, we'll go through each one: where they are, what routes leave from them, how to get to the station from your hotel, and how much it costs.

  • North Pattaya Bus Station (North Pattaya Station / Roong Reaung Coach Station)

This is the city's main bus station, from which government and most branded services depart. The most popular route is to Bangkok (to Ekamai and Mo Chit stations) and to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Bus #389 from the airport arrives here and at Jomtien station.

Schedule and prices: Buses to Bangkok leave at least every hour from 05:00 to 23:00. A ticket costs from 148 baht (4.51 USD) + 20 baht per piece of luggage. To Suvarnabhumi Airport – from 06:00 to 22:00, every 1–1.5 hours, price from 139 baht (4.24 USD). Check the current schedule on the carrier's official website pattayabus.com.

The station is located on North Road (Pattaya Nuea) not far from the intersection with Sukhumvit Road (North Pattaya station on the map). Getting here is easy by songthaew shared taxi: they run frequently along North Road, fare is 15 baht. If you're coming from the center (Beach Road or Second Road), take a northbound songthaew and get off at the intersection with Pattaya Nuea, then walk 2–3 minutes.

  • Nakhonchai Air Bus Station

Private carrier Nakhonchai Air (also written Na Korn Chai Air) specializes in long-distance routes. The station is on Sukhumvit Road near the intersection with Central Road (Pattaya Klang) (station on the map). From here you can go to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Chang, Koh Samet, and even Laos.

It's better to buy tickets in advance on the website nakhonchaiair.com (info is in Thai, but you can figure it out), or at travel agencies – they often offer a free transfer from your hotel to the station. To get there on your own, take a songthaew along Pattaya Klang (to Sukhumvit) or a taxi (from 60 baht).

  • Jomtien South Station (Roong Reuang Coach Jomtien / Bus 389 Office)

This station is the terminus for bus #389 from Suvarnabhumi Airport and some services from Bangkok. It's located in the Jomtien area, on Thappraya Road, not far from Thepprasit Market (Jomtien station on the map). Convenient for those staying in Jomtien, Pratumnak, or South Pattaya.

Prices and schedules are the same as at North Station: to the airport – from 139 baht (4.24 USD), to Bangkok – from 148 baht. Tickets are sold at the ticket office upon departure. From the station to Jomtien Beach, you can walk (10–15 minutes) or take a songthaew (15 baht) along Thappraya Road toward the sea.

  • T-Tour Bus Station

A convenient departure point to Bangkok and the airport for those staying in central Pattaya. The station is located near Bali Hai Pier and Walking Street, at the intersection of South Pattaya Road and Second Road (T-Tour station on the map).

Minivans and buses from several private carriers leave from here. A ticket to Suvarnabhumi Airport costs about 200–250 baht (6.17.62 USD), to Bangkok – from 180 baht. It's best to check the schedule on the spot, as it changes often. The plus side of this station is its proximity to central hotels and the pier.

Pattaya train stations

Pattaya Train Station building: looks simple, but it gets the job done

Pattaya has a train station, Pattaya Train Station, and a stop called Pattaya Tai Train Station. Both are on the line connecting Sattahip with Bangkok. Trains run infrequently and slowly, but it's the cheapest option (just 32 baht). The main downsides are the inconvenient schedule and the long travel time (4 to 6 hours).

  • Pattaya Train Station

The main station, which has a ticket office and a waiting room. It's located not far from Sukhumvit Road and North Road (Pattaya train station on the map).

Train schedule from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong Station):

    • Train #283 (regular, weekdays): departure 06:55, arrival in Pattaya ~10:34. Return #284: departure 14:20, arrival in Bangkok 18:15. Price – 32 baht (0.98 USD). In reality, the train takes 4–5 hours.
    • Train #997 (express, weekends): departure 06:45, arrival 09:13. Return #998: departure 16:26, arrival 18:55. Price – 170 baht (5.18 USD).

Tickets are sold at the ticket office 30 minutes before departure. From the station to the center, you can take a songthaew (15–30 baht) that wait for the train's arrival, or a taxi (about 100 baht). Walking to the beach is about 2 km.

  • Pattaya Tai Train Station

This isn't a station but a stop with no ticket office or buildings. It's located in the southern part of Pattaya, at the intersection of Sukhumvit Road and Soi Wat Boon (Pattaya Tai Train Station on the map). Convenient for those staying in Jomtien or Pratumnak.

Trains stop here on the same schedule as at the main station (with a 5–7 minute delay). Tickets are paid for on the train – just board and find the conductor. The price is the same: 32 baht (0.98 USD) or 170 baht on weekends. To get from the stop to your hotel, take a taxi or motorbike taxi (from 50 baht), because songthaews are rare here.

Pattaya Pier (Bali Hai Pier)

Koh Lan ferry at Bali Hai Pier

Bali Hai Pier is located in the southern part of the city, near Walking Street (pier location on the map). Ferries to Koh Lan run regularly from here, as well as speedboats. In the past, there was a ferry to Hua Hin, but it's been discontinued.

Pattaya – Koh Lan ferry: departs 7 times a day (07:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00, 18:30). Travel time – 40 minutes. Ticket price – 30 baht (0.91 USD) one way. Return trips from Koh Lan: 06:30, 07:30, 09:30, 12:00, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00, 18:00.

Besides the ferry, speedboats (150–300 baht/person, 15–20 minutes) and private charters also leave from the pier and from the beaches. There are always seats on the ferry, tickets are sold before boarding.

If you need to get to Pattaya from other islands (Samui, Phangan, Tao), the easiest way is to use a ready-made combined transfer (ferry + bus) from Lomprayah or Boonsiri – they'll take you right to your hotel in Pattaya. Tickets are sold on the carriers' websites or at 12go.asia.
