How to get to Hua Hin from Bangkok

Article and Section Navigation

Bangkok is the main gateway through which tourists and travelers enter Thailand and Hua Hin in particular. Despite the presence of its own airport near Hua Hin, so far there are no international flights there (and they are unlikely to be, despite repeated statements by the authorities), so almost all tourists and travelers get to Hua Hin directly from Bangkok airport, and from other cities and resorts of the country with a transfer in Bangkok. Next, about all the ways to get from Bangkok and its airports to Hua Hin.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi International Airport (Suvannapum). It is the main international airport of the country, and almost all tourists arrive here. And of course, it's easy from here get to Hua Hin by local transport or taxi.

  • Taxi

    Bangkok Taxi

A taxi from the airport costs from 2300 baht (69.01 USD, see Thailand's currency and exchange rate). It is possible to bargain cheaper outside the airport, but the airport infrastructure is such that it is quite difficult and far to go outside the airport. From Hua Hin to the airport, a taxi will be much cheaper.

You can book a transfer in advance via the search form or Here for the driver to meet you at the airport with a sign:

  • Direct bus

The counter next to exit 8

    Roong Rueang buses from the airport depart to 7:30 , 9:30 , 11:30 , 13:30 , 15:30 , 17:30 and 18:30 , 3 hours on the road, the cost starts from 305 baht (9 USD). Back from Hua Hin to the airport are sent to 06:00, 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00.

You can find the ticket offices of these buses at the airport on the ground floor at exit 8. There is a ticket counter there, and you also need to go there for boarding if you have an electronic ticket purchased in advance.

In Hua Hin, they arrive/depart at the Hua Hin bus station (Hua Hin bus station on the map), which is located a couple of kilometers from the center and the tourist area, but the bus passes through the center and you can ask to drop off you are there. If you miss the center, you can get back from the bus station by minibus Songhtaew for 20 baht (for more information, see Hua Hin minibus and their routes).

You can check the schedule and cost, as well as, if necessary, buy an e-ticket (we recommend doing this in advance, at least one day before the trip) using the search form:

From Don Mueang Airport

Bangkok Don Mueang Airport is also an international airport, but tourists from Russia and the CIS rarely arrive here, since only budget airlines from neighboring Asian countries fly here.

Unfortunately, getting to Hua Hin from Don Muang is not as easy and convenient as from Suvarnabhumi. Taxi will cost from 2000 baht (60.01 USD). You can find the car, as usual, when leaving the airport or at the airport counter, or order using the search form. Another option is to use a free shuttle bus (it is free for those who have air tickets, even on arrival, for the remaining 100 baht) to get to the Suvarnabhumi airport, and from there by direct bus to the resort (see above).

From Bangkok

  • By train

This is the most inexpensive way to get there, but also the longest. Trains run at least 12 times a day and cost from 44 baht for the third class, these are seats according to the type of our train ( see more about the types of cars and train travel in Thailand). It makes no sense to take more expensive tickets of a higher class, because it takes only 3-4 hours to go. The schedule can be viewed here - https://www.railway.co.th. Tickets are purchased directly at the station before departure, there is no need to purchase in advance.

Departure takes place from Bangkok's main station Hua Lamphong (see more about Hua Lamphong station and how to get to it here). You can also get on at Sam Sen or Bang Sue Junction stations, but not all trains stop there. Bang Sue Junction station is more convenient, as it can be reached by Bangkok metro, here is the schedule of departure from it - https://www.railway.co.th/checktime/. There are also two trains a day from the railway station in the Thon Buri area on the other side of the river at 07:30 and 13:05, the cost is 42 baht.

In Hua Hin, trains arrive at the railway station in the city center, very close to the tourist area (Hua Hin railway station on the map). It will not be difficult to walk from there.

  • By tourist bus from Khao San Road

There's nowhere to fall on Khao San Road during the day

If you are staying in the tourist area of Bangkok Khaosan Road, then the most convenient and fastest way for you will be to use tourist buses that depart directly from the area. You can buy tickets for them at any travel agency from 400 baht. Their schedule changes often, so you should find out on the spot.

Keep in mind that it can be both a minivan and a large bus, besides, you can also go with a transfer, i.e. you are simply taken by minivan to one of the bus stations and put on a regular bus there. It is better to check all the details with the seller, although they do not always tell the truth, just to sell you a ticket.

  • By minivans from the southern and northern bus terminals

During the day, minivans costing 180-200 baht depart from Bangkok's Mor Chit North bus station and Sai Tai Mai South station approximately every half hour.

  • By regular bus from the Southern Bus Terminal

Every 20 minutes from Bangkok's Sai Tai Mai South Bus Terminal to Hua Hin, large regular buses depart at a cost of 175 baht, 3 hours on the way. It is inconvenient to use this station because it is difficult to get to it. Learn more about Sai Tai Mai here. The only case when it is convenient to use this station is if you are traveling from another region with a transfer here.
