Hua Hin is one of Thailand's most convenient resorts for independent travelers. It's easy to get here from Bangkok by train, bus, or taxi, and there are direct shuttles from Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports. Unlike island destinations, you can easily get here at any time of year – no need to wait for ferries or depend on sea weather.
To start with, here are quick tips for the most popular destinations:
- From Russia and CIS countries. Only by plane to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang), then by ground transport. There are practically no direct flights to Hua Hin from abroad. Total travel time including the flight and transfer is from 12–14 hours. How to find tickets and what to consider with layovers – read in the "By Plane" section.
- From Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The most affordable option is the direct Roong Reuang Coach bus from Exit No. 8 (325 baht, ~4 hours). You can also take a taxi (from 2,300 baht), book a private transfer, or rent a car. Details – in the "Via Suvarnabhumi Airport" and "By Your Own or Rented Transport" sections.
- From Don Mueang Airport (DMK). Since 2025, there are direct Transport Co Ltd (999) buses – 4 departures a day, 205 baht, travel time about 3.5–4 hours. The alternative is a taxi or transferring to a bus in Bangkok. Instructions – in the "Via Don Mueang Airport" section.
- From central Bangkok. The most budget-friendly and atmospheric way is by train from Krung Thep Aphiwat station (from 94 baht, 3–4 hours). Buses leave from the Southern Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) and from Ekkamai bus station (from 180 baht, ~3.5 hours). Details – in the "By Bus and Minivan" and "By Train" sections.
- From Pattaya. The most convenient ground option is a minivan or large bus (from 526 baht, 5–6 hours). You can also get there by taxi (from 2,500–3,000 baht). In late 2026, EZY Airlines launched flights between Pattaya (U-Tapao Airport) and Hua Hin, but only time will tell whether they'll operate consistently. Details – in the "From Pattaya" sections.
- From Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao. The most convenient way is to take a ready-made combined transfer (bus + ferry) from Lomprayah. Departure from Hua Hin is around 8:45 a.m., cost from 1,000 to 1,500 baht depending on the island. Details – in the "By Lomprayah Catamaran" section.
- From Chiang Mai and other cities. There are few direct buses; most often the route goes through Bangkok with a transfer to a train or bus. You could also consider flying to Bangkok and then a ground transfer. Information – in the "From Other Cities" and "By Train" sections.

By Plane
From Russia and other countries, it's best to get to Hua Hin via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. You can fly there on direct flights or inexpensive connecting flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and some regions. From the airport to Hua Hin you'll have to go by land, but it's very easy to do even without experience traveling independently.
Right now, flights from Moscow to Bangkok with a layover in China on Chinese airlines are especially affordable. We fly that way too, and it's a perfectly convenient option for travelers at a good price. The meals on board are good, and in most cases you don't need a visa for the layover or to collect and re-check your luggage. However, among the cheapest flights there are options with very long layovers, up to a full day. In that case, you can book a hotel near the airport and leave the transit zone to spend the night at the hotel without a visa. Read more about China's visa regime during layovers in our guide.

Via Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok)
By Bus. From Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can get to the Hua Hin resort on a direct Roong Reuang Coach bus. Buses depart from 6:30 to 18:30 roughly every hour, travel time about 4 hours, fare 361 baht (10.77 USD). Check the schedule on the carrier's website https://rrcticket.com/, you can buy tickets with card payment, including Russian cards, on Trip.com.
Tickets at the airport can be bought at the counter on the first floor next to Exit No. 8, but it's still better to book online in advance, since tickets for the next departure might not be available on the spot.
In Hua Hin, the bus from Suvarnabhumi arrives at the Roong Reuang Coach bus station. This is not the city bus station in the center – this one is located near the airport (Roong Reuang bus station on the map). From there to a hotel in the center, you can take a taxi for 150–200 baht.
A taxi from Bangkok airport to Hua Hin will cost from 2,300 baht (68.62 USD, )see Thailand currency and exchange rate). Back from Hua Hin to the airport you can go for 2,000. You can also book a transfer in advance so the driver meets you at the airport with a sign, via the search form or here:
Via Don Mueang Airport (Bangkok)
Getting to Hua Hin from the old Don Mueang airport has become easier. Since 2025, Transport Co Ltd (999) has launched direct buses. Fare is 205 baht (6.12 USD), travel time about 3.5–4 hours, 4 departures a day. Buses depart from the first floor of the terminal (follow the signs).
Alternative options: a taxi (from 2,000 baht) or a shuttle ride to Krung Thep Aphiwat central station, from where you can take a train. The minivans for 200 baht that used to run are now less common, but you can look for them on the spot.
Via Hua Hin Airport (HHQ)
Near Hua Hin, 10 kilometers from the city center, there's a small airport (Hua Hin airport on the map). It has an interesting feature: part of the territory, including the runway, passes right over the main highway (Route 4). If you drive to Hua Hin by car or bus from Bangkok, you'll pass right under it.
At the same time, Hua Hin Airport (HHQ) is not a popular transport hub. There are very few regular passenger flights here, and they often get launched and then canceled. So we don't recommend relying on it too much when planning your trip.
Current situation (2026): Right now, Thai AirAsia operates flights between Hua Hin and Chiang Mai (4 times a week). In addition, since October 23, 2026, EZY Airlines is launching flights between Hua Hin and U-Tapao Airport (UTP), which serves Pattaya. The flight lasts about 40 minutes, operated four times a week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday) on a Cessna Grand Caravan. Tickets start from 2,900 baht. You can check availability on aggregator sites, for example on Trip.com.
By Bus and Minivan
This is a pretty good and very comfortable way to get to Hua Hin. Bus service connects Hua Hin with many tourist cities in Thailand. If you haven't used buses in Thailand yet, read our guide on buses in Thailand and how to use them.
In Hua Hin, buses and minivans arrive/depart:
- The city bus station, also known as the Sombat tour station (Hua Hin bus station on the map). The station for large long-distance buses.
- Minivan stations and stops, of which there are at least 3 (station on the map, Market Village Hua Hin mall station on the map, and another station on the map). These serve routes to Bangkok and Cha-Am.
- The Roong Reuang Coach carrier's bus station is outside the city near the airport, and you can get to the center by taxi for 150-200 baht or by passing buses (Roong Reuang Coach on the map). This is where this carrier's large buses arrive from Pattaya and Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The most frequent and stable routes are from Bangkok. The other buses are mostly passing through: they go from the south of the country (e.g., from Surat Thani or Phuket) to Bangkok and make a stop in Hua Hin. If you're coming from the north (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, etc.), you'll have to travel with a transfer in Bangkok. And although ready-made single-ticket routes are available for sale, you'll have to change transport in Bangkok – this is usually indicated in the description when booking.
Where to Buy Tickets and Schedules
Tickets can be bought at the counters at the bus station or at travel agencies on the street. Besides scheduled buses, there are also tourist buses and minivans. Online booking is available through aggregators:

From Bangkok
Buses to Hua Hin depart from Bangkok's southern bus terminal Sai Tai Mai, from Ekkamai Bus Terminal, and from Mor Chit station. They depart from 04:00 to 22:00, every 20–40 minutes. Travel time is about 3–3.5 hours. A ticket costs from 180 baht (5.37 USD) depending on the company and bus class. There's no need to buy tickets in advance – just come to the station.
From Suvarnabhumi Airport
From Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hua Hin, you can take a direct Roong Reuang Coach bus. Travel time is about 4 hours, fare 361 baht (10.77 USD), they run from 06:30 to 18:30 every hour. Tickets are sold at the counter on the first floor next to Exit No. 8, but it's better to buy them in advance on Trip.com to guarantee seats.
From Pattaya
The most convenient and comfortable option is the Roong Reuang Coach bus. Buses depart from North Pattaya Bus Station and arrive at the same company's bus station, which is located near Hua Hin Airport. Travel time is about 5 hours 20 minutes. Ticket price is from 526 baht (15.69 USD). You can buy tickets online in advance through the aggregator 12Go or Trip.com (accepts Russian cards).
Note that the schedule may change depending on the season, and large buses are sometimes replaced by minivans.
From Other Thai Cities
Bus service connects Hua Hin with many tourist cities. If you're traveling from cities and places south of Hua Hin (Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Surat Thani, etc.), you need to look for a bus to Bangkok, since they all pass through Hua Hin.
By Train
The train is the most budget-friendly and colorful way to get to Hua Hin. It's a great option if you're not in a hurry and want to see everyday Thai life from the train window. From Bangkok, trains to Hua Hin depart from the new central station Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (Bang Sue area). Third-class tickets cost from 94 to 100 baht (2.8 USD). The ride takes 3–4 hours. You can safely buy the cheapest ticket, since the ride isn't long. Buying in advance isn't necessary – third-class seats are always available. The current schedule is also always available on the official Thai railways website.
If you're coming from the south of the country (from Surat Thani, Chumphon, as well as from Malaysia or Singapore), trains pass through Hua Hin in transit. But from northern and northeastern cities (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pattaya), you'll first have to get to Bangkok and transfer to the right train there.
In Hua Hin, trains arrive at the new station opened in 2023 (Hua Hin's new railway station on the map). It's modern, with elevators and escalators, and is located just a few dozen meters from the old historic station building. From the new station to the main tourist area in the center, it's an easy 10–15 minute walk.
The old Hua Hin railway station is no longer used for passenger service and functions exclusively as a beautiful attraction and photo spot.

By Your Own or Rented Transport
If you're vacationing in Pattaya or have flown into Bangkok, you can also get to Hua Hin by rented car. In Thailand, this is a very common, affordable, and convenient way to get around. A personal car gives you freedom on the trip and mobility at the resort itself, which is especially relevant for Hua Hin, stretched along the coast.
We compared prices and found that renting a car in Hua Hin itself is often more expensive than in Pattaya or at Bangkok airport. So it makes sense to pick up a car at your arrival point and drive it to the resort.
The road to Hua Hin is excellent. But to avoid traffic jams, it's best to drive from Pattaya on the toll roads: this will cost about 300 baht (8.95 USD) depending on the route and the number of segments, but you'll save 3-4 hours of travel and it'll be safer, especially if you have little experience. The distance between the cities is about 318 km, and travel time is around 3.5–4 hours excluding traffic jams.
From Suvarnabhumi Airport, it's also more convenient to drive through Bangkok on the toll roads – this will cost about 80–120 baht (2.98 USD). You can save money and drive through central Bangkok on the free roads, but there's a risk of losing 2–3 hours in traffic jams (if not driving at night).
From Bangkok to Hua Hin, the road is already completely free. From the south, all roads are free too.
If you're not in a hurry, the trip from Pattaya can be stretched over a whole day and you can visit something interesting along the way. For example, stop by one of the floating markets near Bangkok or the famous railway market in Maeklong village, where a train literally passes through the market stalls. And if time allows, from Hua Hin you can head further south – to Phuket or other islands. The route Pattaya – Bangkok – Hua Hin – Phuket (or in reverse) will turn into a full-fledged road trip around the country.

By Ferry and Catamaran
The direct ferry connection between Pattaya and Hua Hin, launched in 2017, was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has not resumed since. The carrier Royal Passenger Liner has officially announced the discontinuation of this route. Please don't rely on outdated ferry information and plan ground routes instead.
By Lomprayah Catamaran from Samui, Phangan, Tao
Lomprayah's high-speed catamarans carry passengers between Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, and the cities of Hua Hin and Bangkok. In Hua Hin there's a Lomprayah office (office on the map) where you can buy tickets to the islands. Accordingly, you can also get here on this company's catamarans. The boats themselves don't go to Hua Hin, but to the city of Chumphon, where passengers are transferred to a bus and taken to Hua Hin and Bangkok. You can find information about schedules and prices, and book tickets, on the company's website. Departure from Hua Hin is usually around 8:45 a.m., the cost of a combined ticket is from 1,000 to 1,500 baht depending on the island.
