The Royal Railway Station of Hua Hin or the Royal Pavilion is positioned as one of the main architectural attractions of Hua Hin and the most beautiful station in Thailand. For locals, this place is very important and almost sacred. The thing is, it was thanks to the construction of the station in 1911 that Hua Hin began to develop and turned into a resort. But the most important thing is that in 1920, an additional Royal Waiting Room appeared next to the main building, where members of the royal family spent time waiting for the train. Currently, the Royal Hall isn't used, but outsiders aren't allowed in either.
Architecturally, the station is really interesting, especially the royal hall. It's made in the traditional Asian style, entirely of wood. You can walk right up to it and peek inside, but there's nothing special there; you'll only be able to make out the air conditioners. The main station building is also made in the same traditional style and entirely of wood. In front of the station building there's a sign with the city's name. It's a kind of symbol and is sold as souvenir magnets and keychains – be sure to take a photo next to it.
If you cross the railway, you can stroll through a small park. There's also an old steam locomotive on display there.
Since 2023, the station has become entirely an attraction; trains no longer stop here. The new Hua Hin railway station is located a couple of hundred meters from here.
