How to get to Hua Hin from Pattaya

Article and Section Navigation

Hua Hin and Pattaya are the most popular mainland resorts of Thailand, and it is not surprising that travelers often wonder how to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin or Chaam and back is the fastest and cheapest.

The distance between the cities is only 320 kilometers, but the road passes through Bangkok, so the route takes at least 4 hours even by taxi. At the same time, the cost of the trip will be at least 3000 baht (90.01 USD, see Thailand's currency and exchange rate). You can order a car transfer from Pattaya to Hua Hin or back via the search form (the price for a car is up to 4 passengers).

With a transfer via Bangkok

Hua Hin Railway Station

Some experienced tourists prefer to overcome this route with the help of local public transport with transfers through Bangkok. You can do this on average for 300 baht (9 USD), but you will have to endure some inconvenience and spend a full day moving.

By train

This is the cheapest but also the longest way. You'll have to first get from Pattaya to Hua Lamhong railway station in Bangkok by train No.284 (departs at 14:21, arrives at 18:15, the cost is 31 baht (0.93 USD), the schedule can be checked here https://www.railway.co.th/checktime). From Bangkok to Hua Hin then you need to transfer to one of the four evening trains departing to 18:30 , 19:30 , 22:50 And another one at 22:50 (4 hours on the way, the cost is 44 baht, the schedule here is https://www.railway.co.th/checktime). There is practically no chance of getting on the train at 18:30 due to frequent delays.

Thus, this route will take you 10-12 hours and 75 baht (2.25 USD), and you will arrive in Hua Hin late at night.

By regular bus

By regular buses through Bangkok, you should transfer to Sai Tai Mai South bus station, since buses to Hua Hin depart only from there. But the problem is that there are no direct buses from Pattaya to the southern terminal (but our information), so we are not considering this option.

Hua Hin Bus Terminal

Fortunately for tourists who are not looking for difficult paths for themselves, there is a direct bus service between Hua Hin and Pattaya by Bell Travel. The journey takes 5 and a half hours, the cost is 400 baht (12 USD). Moreover, these are large comfortable buses, not minivans. From Pattaya, they depart/arrive from Pattaya North Bus station (Pattaya North station on the map), which can be reached from anywhere in the resort by Songthaew minibus. In Hua Hin, buses arrive/depart at the city bus station (Hua Hin bus station on the map), from where you can also get to any place in the city by minibus.

Tickets for these buses can be purchased at the Pattaya/Hua Hin Bus Station or via the Internet (search form below).

Direct ferry service between Hua Hin and Pattaya

Ferry from Pattaya

STOPPED!

Since January 1, 2017, there has been a new way to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin and back: the ferry service between the two popular resorts, interrupted for many years, has been resumed. The high-speed ferry takes an hour and a half, the cost is 1200 baht (36 USD) one way. Tickets are currently purchased only at the piers, but in the future they promise to sell them online. From Pattaya, ferries depart from Bali Hai Pier, which is located almost in the very center of the city, and is accessible on foot from most tourist areas (Pattaya marina on the map). In Hua Hin, the ferry departs from the Saphan Pla pier, which is located on the outskirts of the city behind Khao Takiab Mountain (Hua Hin Marina on the map). You can get from here to the center by taxi. If you want to get there on a budget, then you need to go around Khao Takiab mountain (about 1 km), and take a shuttle bus from 15 baht on the main Takiap Road (see minibus in Hua Hin)

Schedule:

  • Departure from Pattaya – 10:30
  • Departure from Hua Hin – 13:30
