An overview of how to get from Don Mueang to Huhain and Chaam

Unfortunately, we could not find a direct budget way to get from Don Mueang Airport to Hua Hin or Chaam, there are flights only with a transfer in Bangkok by bus or train. However, the route with a transfer in Bangkok is very easy to do, it will take 5-8 hours. There is information on the Internet that direct minivans are being sent, but we cannot confirm this, we could not find them. If you are not satisfied with a transfer trip, you can get there by taxi or book a tourist transfer. Further about each method in more detail.

A taxi ride from Don Muang to Hua Hin or Chaam will cost from 2200 baht (66.01 USD, see Thailand's currency and exchange rate). The price is very different from the method of travel (by meter or fixed), and the place of ordering a taxi. As practice shows, the cheapest way to order a car is through the Grab, Maxim, InDrive application (an analogue of Uber, which does not work here), here, or at the counter with the official taxi counter. Taxi drivers offer a more expensive price on the street at a negotiated price. However, please note that it is not a fact that it will be possible to order a car through Grab applications, at least we could not order a long-distance trip. If you also fail, then try InDrive or book a tourist transfer:

A tourist transfer is an analogue of a taxi with increased comfort, which is ordered in advance, and then the driver will meet you on arrival with a sign in the arrivals hall. You can order a transmission at Kiwitaxi or Intui.Travel, or using this form a form from Kiwitaxi:

You can order a car back from Hua Hin or Chaam cheaper, from 1500 baht, but it is better to do this in advance the day before the trip through the hotel reception or tourist offices in the city.

First class bus in Thailand

As already mentioned, there are no direct buses. You need to go through the northern bus station of Bangkok Mo Chit. You will first have to get to it by airport express bus A1 for 30 baht, and then transfer to a bus or minivan to Hua Hin and Chaam.

The A1 bus stop is located immediately at exit No. 6 (Gate 6) from the terminal, it is very easy to find it, there are signs everywhere. Buses depart from 07:30 to 23:30 every 20 minutes, 20-30 minutes on the way. You need to go to the final stop next to the bus station.

Large buses and minivans depart from the Mo Chit bus station several times a day, the cost starts from 180 baht (5.4 USD). Here is the bus schedule available for online booking:

There is also a way to get through Bangkok's Sai Tai Mai South Bus Terminal, from where buses depart more often and cost less. But the problem is that you need to get to it from the airport either by taxi or with transfers on city buses.

First, you need to take a train from the airport to one of these stations. To do this, you need to go from the terminal via a covered pedestrian crossing across the road to the other side (there are signs) to the Don Muang Railway Station. At least 30 Commuter trains depart from it per day, including night trains. They are on the road for a little less than an hour, and cost only 5 baht (0.15 USD). Tickets are purchased at the box office, no need to book in advance. The train schedule is here railway.co.th.
