How to get to Phi Phi Don
The Phi Phi Archipelago is located in the south of Thailand in the province of Krabi in the waters of the Andaman Sea (Pi-Pi Don on the map). The main tourist island of Phi Phi Don can be reached only by scheduled boats and speedboats, there is no airport here. You can get here from the Russian Federation or other countries only with transfers. The nearest airports are located on the island of Phuket and in the province of Krabi. Whichever airport you choose, it's best to plan an overnight stay after the flight, and only then swim to the island. But if you really want, you can do the route without stopping, for which an inexpensive complex transfer from Krabi airport to Phi Phi Don by bus + ferry is offered. At Phuket Airport, you can also purchase a ready-made complex transfer directly to Phi Phi and Lanta Island.

There is a regular ferry service, at least with Krabi Town (from the pier Klong Jilad), Ao Nang, Railay (via Ao Nang), O. Lanta, Phuket. See their schedule and departure/arrival locations below).
On Phi Phi Don, boats arrive at the main pier on Ao Ton Sai beach (pier on the map), from where you can then get to the desired hotel on foot, or take a water taxi to distant beaches, if your hotel is located there.
Be careful when buying tours or tickets for speed boats if you have back problems, or if you are pregnant. These boats very much "jump" on the waves, and in a sitting position they load the spine, which can even lead to injuries. It is better to abandon them in favor of slow boats.
Please note that convenient package tickets are offered from Bangkok and popular resorts in Thailand immediately to Phi Phi Don on by train or bus with a transfer to the ferry. Such tickets are even cheaper than if you buy them separately or on the spot, because sometimes you will have to take a taxi from the end point of a bus or train, while all types of transport are immediately included in a single ticket.

Transportation on the island of Phi Phi Don
The island is small in size, there is no public transport on it. You can travel on foot, and to some hard-to-reach beaches by boat.
You can rent a bike (from 100 baht per day, see Thailand currency and exchange rate), but rentals are not common, you'll have to look. But it doesn't really make much sense, because the relief of the island is mountainous, it won't be possible to get far. There is also one single place where you can rent a motorbike (from 200 baht per hour, not a day, as in other resorts) or an ATV (from 300 baht per hour). But again, there is no great point in renting them, since it will not be possible to leave further than the center. If you still decide to rent, then look for a rental near the Valentine Bungalow hotel.
It is most convenient to get to distant and hard-to-reach beaches on Phi Phi Don by water taxi. These are long-tailed boats that depart from the piers according to occupancy (4-8 people), and to get back from distant beaches, you need to specify what time they will come to pick you up. They will cost 100-150 baht to travel to the nearest beaches, but in the evening (after 18 hours) prices almost double, besides, you will have to pay an increased price if you don't get the right number of passengers. To get to the far beaches in the north of the island, you will have to pay up to 1000 baht for a boat, but it is better to negotiate immediately for a round trip with waiting.
An excellent alternative to an expensive water taxi is to rent kayaks for the whole day, which will cost from 150 baht. No skills are required to manage them, and a child can do it. Theoretically, it is possible to swim on them even to distant beaches.
Transportation on the islands of the Phi Phi archipelago
Other islands of the archipelago can be reached with a guided tour, or by hiring a boat on time. There are no regular boats here.
Excursions are cheaper than hiring a boat, from 500 baht for visiting several islands at once, but do not give freedom of movement. Therefore, it is best not to spare the money, and swim to the islands on your own. This is especially true for visiting the famous beach on Phi Phi Lei from the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. You need to go there as early as possible in the morning to get past the crowds of package tourists.
You can hire a boat from 1500 baht for half a day, but you need to bargain well before this price. In high season, you should count on 2000, or even 3000 baht. But you can save money if you divide the cost of the boat by the company, because one boat accommodates 4-8 people. If you plan to sail early in the morning, it is necessary to arrange this the day before.
