How to get to Krabi Province in Thailand

By plane

In the province of Krabi is the international airport of Krabi (Krabi International Airport, KBV). International flights from neighboring Asian countries are operated to it, but from Russia and the CIS countries it can only be reached with a transfer. Most often, a transplant is done in Bangkok, and it is most profitable after arriving at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport to move by shuttle bus or taxi to the old airport Don Mueang, and there to board a flight of budget airlines AirAsia, LionAir or NokAir (see all airlines of Thailand). If such transfers do not suit you, then you can pick up a ready-made flight immediately with transfers from Russia and other countries.

How to get from Krabi airport to the resorts of the province

The airport is located far from the resorts (airport on the map), and you will have to get there by taxi, minivans, or local shuttle transport. To the islands of the province from the airport you can buy a ready-made transfer:

• Comprehensive airline transfers

  Budget airlines Nok Air and Air Asia offer a very convenient and budget flight from the cities of Thailand with a transfer to Lanta Islands (Ko Lanta) or Phi Phi (Ko Phi Phi) in one ticket. Such tickets can only be purchased on airline websites.

• By taxi

  There is an official taxi at the airport with a fixed cost per trip. There is no point in looking for other taxis, they are not allowed to enter the airport, and the official prices are not so high. The car is ordered at the counter on the ground floor of the airport.

  The cost of a trip from Krabi airport for a passenger car/minivan (as of 2015):

  • Krabi Town - 350/600 baht (see currency of Thailand, exchange rate)
  • Ao Nang - 600/1050

  You can also book a transfer from the airport via the search form, and a driver with a sign will be waiting for you upon arrival:

• Minivans

  Several times a day after the arrival of flights and according to occupancy, minivans depart to Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Taladkao Bus Station, Lanta Island. Tickets for them are sold at the counter inside the airport (on the ground floor). Fare, baht:

  • Taladkao Bus Station - 80 baht
  • The center ofKrabi Town (Chao Fah Road) and Pi Pi Island marina, Lanta - 90
  • Ao Nang Beach – 150
  • O. Lanta - 450-600. These minivans depart from the airport from 08:30 to 15:30 every hour. You can book a ticket and check the schedule on the website - krabitransfers.in.th

  Travel time to Krabi Town is 30-40 minutes, to Ao Nang – 90 minutes, Lanta Island – 2-3 hours.

• By Songteeo minibus

  If you exit the airport on the main road (about 300 meters), you can catch a minibus in the direction of the bus station Talad Kao and Krabi town. A trip on them will cost from 50 baht per person.

• Ready transfer to the islands

  If you do not want to get involved with taxis, minivans and transfers, then immediately at the airport you can buy a ready-made transfer to the islands of Lanta and Phi Phi from the travel agency at the counter on the ground floor. There you can also buy separate ferry tickets to the islands or find out their schedule in order to decide on the next route.

By bus

Most regular intercity buses to the province arrive at the main bus station Talad Kao, which is located a few kilometers from the center of Krabi Town. You can get to it at least from Bangkok, Hua Hin, Suratthani (here is the most convenient railway station), from Phuket island (by minivan), Koh Samui (ferry+bus). Buses do not go here from Pattaya, Chiang Mai and other cities of the north, you will have to transfer via Bangkok.

Upon arrival at the station, you can get from it to Krabi Town by minibus for 20 baht (sent by occupancy). From Krabi Town from the pier you can then go by ferry to the islands of Lanta and Phi Phi, or by boat to Railay Beach. The same shuttle buses for 90 baht will take you to Ao Nang Beach and Nopparat Thara. From Ao Nang, you can take a boat to Ton Sai or Railay.

Minivans depart to Lanta Island from the bus station for 300 baht every hour from 07:00 to 17:00, 3 hours on the way.

Flight information:

• From Phuket

  From Phuket's new bus station, a minivan, 140 baht, departs to Krabi every hour from 07:00 to 18 hours, 3-4 hours on the way.

  In Krabi, minivans stop at the Talat Kao bus station and then go to the center of Krabi Town, where they drop off passengers on the main street Maharaj Alley in the area of the Vogue shopping center. If you need to get further to Ao Nang, then you can both from the center and from the bus station, take a Songthaew minibus to Ao Nang in 50-100 baht, 40 minutes on the way. The island of Lanta can be reached by minivans for 400 baht.

  Also, travel agencies send minivans to Krabi directly from the Beaches of Phuket, but we would recommend refraining from their services, because the trip on them can be very long.

• From Bangkok (Hua Hin)

  From the north and south bus terminals in Bangkok (see Bangkok bus stations) there are several daily flights to Krabi: daytime from 07:00 to 09:00; night from 19:00 to 22:00. The journey takes 13 hours, the cost is 700-1100 baht. Buses go through Hua Hin and chaam.

• From Koh Samui

  From Koh Samui to Krabi can be reached by buying a combined ticket for the ferry + bus company Panthip Travel. The cost is 430 baht. Additional information and booking of tickets on the website http://phantiptravel.com.

  Another carrier is Lomprayah. Tickets are more expensive (650 baht), but the company is more reliable and the transfer is faster (4 hours).

By train

There is no railway through Krabi. But you can get from Bangkok, Hua Hin, and other cities of the north with a transfer in Bangkok to Surat Thani. Then buses to Krabi depart directly from Surat Thani railway station for 200 baht, or from the bus station for 180 baht, 3-4 hours on the way.

If you go from the south (from Malaysia, Singapore), then you should go to the city of Trang. Buses depart from Trang every hour, 45 minutes on the way, 121 baht.

By ferry/boat

In Krabi by ferry/boat you can get to the islands of Lanta and Phi Phi, to the Klong Jilad Pier in Krabi Town, and to the Nopparat Thara Pier in Ao Nang. Ferries depart to Krabi from Phuket and Lipe Islands.
