There are no historical or cultural attractions on Phi Phi Don and the entire archipelago. There are no temples even so familiar to any part of Thailand. The attractions are the islands themselves, their beaches, and the natural beauty of the archipelago.
On the main island of Phi Phi Don there are several amazingly beautiful isolated beaches that can be reached on foot, and some only by boat. Some of them are known as the habitat of monkeys. You can also go on a walking tour to one of the observation decks on the island's mountains. These are easy hiking trails accessible to everyone without preparation, you just need to take drinking water with you. These observation decks offer panoramic views of the island, and here you can meet the dawn or sunset.
Be sure to swim to one of the uninhabited islands of the archipelago, most often it is Phi Phi Lei and Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai). On Phi Phi Lei they visit the famous Maya Bay, where the movie "The Beach" was filmed, and on Bamboo Island you can just relax on a wonderful sandy beach. Snorkeling or diving are also very popular, because it is believed that they are almost the best in all of Thailand here.
You can also visit sights of the province of Krabi on the mainland: the famous tiger temple, hot springs, caves, waterfalls, national park. You can do this with the help of excursions, but it is much better to get out to the mainland for a couple of days and rent a transport there for independent trips.
Entertainment on Phi Phi is well presented. During the day, in addition to beach holidays, you can go on excursions to the nearest islands, go diving, snorkeling, rock climbing, yoga, fishing, kayaking, spa treatments, or just walk around the island along the paths in the jungle. In the evening, there are many bars and discos in the center, there are parties on the beaches, a fire show.
The following is a list of Phi Phi attractions with opening hours, costs, and ways to get there:
Attractions on Phi Phi Don
-
Observation deck
Observation deck 20 minutes from the tourist center of the island on a hill with a height of 186 meters is the main observation deck of the island. From here you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire island, which is not transmitted by any photos. This is the best place to meet the sunrise or sunset.
In fact, there are three viewing platforms here one after the other. Entrance to them is paid. It will not be difficult to get here, but you will have to overcome a considerable rise. Along the way you will pass by private guest houses and several cafes. Do not forget to bring water with you.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, it is better to visit during the day, at sunset or dawn. There are especially a lot of people here at sunset, so it's better to go in the morning.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: the first two viewing rooms are 30 baht, the highest viewing room is 50 baht.
🚶 How to get there: on foot from the center of the island you need to cover about one and a half kilometers mostly up a good road to the very last observation deck (observation deck 3 on the map). The first one is much closer, just 5 minutes from the center (observation deck 1 on the map). There are two roads leading there in total: from the Harmony House guesthouse (shorter) and from the Valentine Bungalow Hotel (longer). The path is marked with signs, it is impossible to get lost.
-
Monkey Beach Monkey Beach
A good place for snorkeling right from the shore, as well as relaxing. There is no infrastructure, so take food and water with you. There are a lot of monkeys living here, and you should be very careful with them: they steal food and things, they can behave very aggressively (see how to behave with monkeys, precautions).
🕐 Working hours: around the clock.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free.
🚶 How to get there: Monkey Beach is located near the center (Monkey Beach on the map), you can walk along the rocky shore (20-30 minutes), but at high tide you have to walk in the water. You can also rent a kayak (150 baht per day), or take a water taxi (100-200 baht).
-
Wang Long Bay Beach and Bay
It is believed that this is the most beautiful place of Phi Phi, and definitely one of the most secluded. There is a tiny beach 20 meters wide, almost always empty. Also from here begins a depth of 80 meters. It is not illuminated, you need to take a flashlight with you. At low tide, the water leaves the bay, so even long-tailed boats can't get here. At the entrance to the bay, the depth is very large, and this is a great place for diving or snorkeling.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free.
🚶 How to get there: the bay is located far from the center on the other side of the island (Wang Long Bay on the map). Getting here by kayak is problematic, too far, besides there may be dangerous currents. It is best to hire a boat, which will cost from 1000 baht in both directions, but you need to bargain.
-
Beaches in Pirate Beach Cove
These are two beaches located in tiny and very beautiful coves. The place is known as a nudist beach, as well as a beach with monkeys. Unfortunately, it cannot be called perfectly clean, there is a lot of garbage left by tourists on the sand, and no one has been cleaning it for years. It cannot be called secluded, high-speed boats with large groups of tourists often come here.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free of charge.
🚶 How to get there: the bay is located in the south of Phi Phi(Pirate Beach Cove on the map). You can reach by kayak (swim one and a half kilometers in one direction), or hire a boat, which will cost from 800 baht in both directions with waiting. You can also get here on foot by a path through the jungle, but you will have to go down to the beach along a very steep, almost sheer cliff. For a hike you need good shoes, water, and at least one hour of time.
-
Loh Moo Dee Beach
A small and very nice beach with palm trees, and according to some versions even the most beautiful on Phi Phi Don. There are not a lot of tourists here, but it is easy to get to it on foot: you do not have to overcome difficult jungles and rocks. The only thing that saves it from a huge flow of tourists is the remoteness, since it takes about 30 minutes to walk from the center, and about 15 from Long Beach beach. From the infrastructure there are sun beds for rent, cool drinks are sold.
The slope of the bottom here is very weak, and in order to fully enter the water, you will have to move 50 meters away. At high tide, the water goes very far, exposing the reef at the bottom. But it is a great and safe place for children to bathe, besides the water is very warm.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free.
🚶 How to get there: located in the east of Phi Phi (Lo Mo Di on the map). You can get there by a well-equipped trail with signs from Longbeach Beach or from the center. A water taxi from Tonsai Pier will cost 200 baht.
-
Shark Point Reef
Reef shark Shark Point is a small reef shoal known as a snorkeling spot, but the most important thing is that reef sharks can be seen here. They do not always appear here, but if you are lucky, you can see a whole flock of these predators. Reef sharks are not dangerous to humans, so you can safely watch them only with the help of fins and snorkeling masks. Moreover, it is not necessary to buy a tour or hire a boat for this: if you are a good swimmer, then from Long Beach it is enough to swim only 200 meters along the chain of underwater reefs.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, attend strictly during the day.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free.
🚶 How to get there: Shark Point is located in the south of the island, starts from Long Beach and stretches a couple of hundred meters into the sea (Shark Point on the map). It is more convenient and safer to hire a boat at the main pier and dive from it, which will cost from 800 baht for 3 hours. If you want to save money, you can walk to Long Beach on foot, and from there swim along the reef yourself. But for this, be sure to take a set of mask with fins (you can rent on the island in the center).

Bamboo Island Beach
Bamboo Island, Krabi Province Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai or Bamboo Island) is a small uninhabited island 5 kilometers north of Phi Phi Don. Its diameter is less than one kilometer, and there is nothing on it except a conditional cafe and a few fishing bungalows. And it is notable for its sandy beach of fine white sand with an admixture of corals. His visit is included in the program of most sightseeing tours of the Phi Phi islands. Usually such tours are brought here for only 20-30 minutes, which does not allow you to fully relax, buy and sunbathe here. Therefore, if there is an opportunity, it is best to go here on your own by boat, and not with a tour. In the middle of the day, many tourist boats arrive here, and the main beach becomes crowded with people. But you can go a little further to the side, it's much quieter there.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, it is better to visit during the day.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free.

It can be visited with excursions from Phi Phi Don, Krabi province or Phuket, but it is best to hire a boat yourself and spend a few hours on the island. Phi Phi Lay Island and Maya Bay
Maya Bay Beach The island of Phi Phi Lei (Phi Phi Leh) and the beach of Maya Bay (Maya Bay, also May Bay) on it is the most famous place in the province of Krabi, and maybe in the whole of Thailand. This is the same beach where the famous movie "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio based on Alex Garland's bestseller of the same name was shot in 1998. That is why hundreds of thousands of tourists rush here every year, expecting to see amazing landscapes and a magical beach, as it is shown in the film. In addition to the beach and Maya Bay, there is also a hiking trail to Lo Sama Bay, the beautiful Pileh Lagoon, and the Viking Cave.
The island is a national park, and you can visit it only as a day trip, or stay for a couple of days in a camp (camping) with minimal amenities. There is no tourist infrastructure, except for the ranger camp and camping here. Learn more about Phi Phi Ley here...
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, it is better to visit during the day.
