Description and is it worth a visit
Tiger Temple Wat Tham Suea (also Tiger Cave, Tiger Cave) is one of the most famous and visited attractions of the province of Krabi, and definitely the most important temple.
In fact, this is a whole complex that includes many traditional temple buildings and statues; a staircase of 1237 steps to the top of the mountain, where there is a large statue of the seated Buddha; a monastery; the tiger cave monastery itself; a nature trail through the jungle. But there are no live tigers in this temple, only stone statues.
The temple was based on a stone niche (cave) at the foot of the mountain, filled with Buddha statues and other Buddhist paraphernalia. A statue of a tiger "lives" in the cave, which, according to legend, lived in the cave three centuries ago (but according to other information it was only in the last century), and frightened the locals with its roar.
One of the most interesting elements in the temple is the staircase to the top of the mountain. But climbing up only looks simple, but in fact it is a real test, intended primarily for believers, and not for tourists, so you should not necessarily strive to climb there. If you have 2-3 extra hours and an excess of strength, then after overcoming 600 meters and 1237 steps you will have a breathtaking view of the province, and, of course, a huge statue of the golden sitting Buddha. And also, on the way up, and in the temple itself, there are a lot of monkeys, so be careful: keep an eye on your belongings, especially glasses, chains, phones and cameras, lock your bags (see how to behave with monkeys, precautions).
If you walk a little further from the entrance to the territory past all the buildings, you can find the entrance to the Khaokaeo Vipassana Forest Park. It is also part of the territory of the temple, and it is worth a visit. In fact, this is a small section of the jungle surrounded by rocks, along which there are trails for walking (a map of the trails is located at the entrance). You can choose a large circle for a walk or walk in a small one, in any case it will take you no more than half an hour. When walking in a large circle, you will move along rocky walls pierced by shallow caves. Monks also live here, and apparently they spend time in caves during meditations.

🚶 How to get there
The temple is located 9 km from the center Krabi-Town (temple on the Krabi map). The easiest way to get here is by rented transport, taxi or motorcycle taxi (100 baht), and many excursions around the province include a visit to the temple. You can take a red shuttle bus from Krabi Town from Th Utarakit Street (this is a street along the waterfront) for 50 baht (see the currency of Thailand and the exchange rate) to the temple itself or drive 20 baht to the turn to the temple on the main road, and then walk.
