Where is the best place to stay in Sevastopol
Sevastopol is a large and geographically complex city, it consists of several districts and remote beaches, which, although they are independent resorts, are officially still part of Sevastopol and connected to the city center by a single transport infrastructure. But don't worry. Next, we will explain everything and tell you in which area or on which beach it is best to choose accommodation for recreation.
-
If you plan to come to Sevastopol for a beach holiday, and excursions and attractions – this is secondary
In this case, we do not recommend even considering accommodation in the city center. Although there are beaches in the center, they are not suitable for a full beach holiday. Accommodation in Balaclava or Cape Fiolent is not very suitable either. In Balaclava, you will have to go by boat to the beaches or go far over the mountain, and on a Fiolent to the water you will have to go down the stairs 100-170 meters in height because of the steep cliff.
As a result, remote areas or beaches of Uchkuyevka, Lyubimovka, Orlovka and Kacha remain for beach holidays in Sevastopol. These are quite good beach resorts, but each with its own peculiarity, and therefore it is better to familiarize yourself with each of them in more detail below.
Beach holidays in Sevastopol -
If the main thing is the sights, and the beaches only then
There is no better place for sightseeing than the center. You can walk to most of the museums and notable places. And those that cannot be reached on foot can easily be reached by public transport. Well, if you want to swim, you can go to one of the city beaches or go to one of the more decent remote beaches during the day.
However, you need to understand that accommodation in the center for the entire period of your vacation will be unnecessarily long, because usually two or three days is enough to get acquainted with all the important sights of Sevastopol.

Overview of the districts of Sevastopol
And now we will tell you a little more about each of the areas and beaches that are suitable for tourist accommodation:
-
City center
As mentioned above, the city center is the best place to stay in Sevastopol for a couple of days for the sake of exploring the sights, but also the most expensive. In our experience, rental housing and hotels here are generally the most expensive in the whole Crimea. In general, the center of the city is considered to be the vast Leninsky district, which stretches for as much as 9 kilometers, but in this case by the center we mean only a small part of it on the shore of Sevastopol Bay (tourist center on the map).
The tourist heart of the center is Nakhimov Square with the Kornilov Embankment and Grafskaya embankment located next to it, and therefore ideally you should choose accommodation within walking distance from these places. There is a place to walk and something to do in the evenings, and on foot you will have access to museums, monuments, monuments, the embankment. Also, when placed here, the bus station and railway station, all city transport and marinas for crossing to the north side will be easily accessible. The center also has its own beach, called "Crystal", but to be honest, despite such a sonorous name, it is suitable only for a very unassuming beach holiday, because it is completely concrete.

North side
The northern side of Sevastopol Bay will be a good alternative to accommodation in the center (north side on the map). If you settle near one of the marinas "Severnaya" or "Radiogorka", then in just 20 minutes and 30 rubles you will be able to cross to the center by regular ferries. There are also two nice beaches on the north side Tolstyak and Uchkuyevka, and buses can take you to further beaches in Lyubimovka, Orlovka, or even to Kacha. Accommodation and hotels here are significantly cheaper. than on the other side of the bay in the center.
Fat Man Beach on the north side -
Gagarin district
This is a huge area that occupies most of the city (Gagarinsky district on the map). There are also several important attractions and entertainment on its territory, for example Tauride Chersonesos and 35th Coastal Battery museum, water park and dolphinarium, as well as several beaches Sunny, Blue Bay and others. But, in our opinion, it is not very suitable for recreation. Firstly, this area is very large and there is no one place of concentration of attractions and beaches, so wherever you settle here, you will not be able to see anything on foot. And secondly - there are no interesting areas for walking like the embankments in the center, for example. The only plus of this area is that you can find inexpensive accommodation here.
Tauric Chersonesos is located in the Gagarin district -
Fiolent
Cape Fiolent is the main natural attraction of Sevastopol, and at the same time a popular tourist area for accommodation (Fiolent on the map). There are several beaches on the cape that are considered one of the most beautiful in the whole Crimea, these are Jasper, Caravel, Tsarskiy and Bounty. You can stay here in inexpensive guest houses, camping or in private housing in garden associations. True, it is difficult to call this area a full-fledged tourist one: there is no tourist and urban infrastructure as such, and there are solid garden and country areas around. Well, the biggest problem of this place is that it will take a very long time to get to all the beaches down steep stairs with a height difference of 100-170 meters.
Tsar's Beach on Fiolenta -
Kacha
Kacha is the farthest beach from the center and a self-sufficient resort village, located 50 kilometers from the center (Kacha on the map). The village and the entire area around it is almost 30 meters above sea level, and this is the height of a 9-storey building. And if in the center the descent to the beach is still relatively gentle and does not cause much trouble except for the need to work a little with your feet, then just outside the village, sharp and dangerous cliffs with a height of 20-30 meters hang over the shore. Another nuisance is the illegal development close to the water line, which occupies almost the entire central part of Kachi. Because of this, in some places the beach line almost disappears, and the waves reach almost the facades of buildings. Learn more about Kacha here.
There is very little space on the shore in the center of Kachi due to illegal development -
Orlovka
Orlovka is located in Nakhimov district about 40 kilometers from the city center (Orlovka on the map). Although it is considered only a remote urban beach, in fact today it is already an independent beach resort, where you can spend your entire vacation with pleasure, or come here for a rest during the day.
There is a pleasant, fine yellow sand on the shore, and only in some places there are small pebbles near the water. The depth is small, and the bottom is mostly clean and smooth. And all this beauty stretches for almost two kilometers, without being interrupted by any fences and concrete breakwaters. Learn more about Orlovka here.
Beach in Orlovka, Crimea -
Lyubimovka
Lyubimovka is a great place for a day trip to the beaches from the center, as well as a passable independent beach resort (Lyubimovka on the map of Crimea). The beach here is very long and wide, mostly sandy, small pebbles cover the shore only at the water's edge. What is really wonderful is that there are no dams, breakwaters and fences here, so Monjo can walk along the coast without hindrance. The bottom here goes under the water quite steeply, after 4-5 meters the water reaches the shoulders, so children should be looked after carefully. The purity of the water in Lyubimovka is a controversial issue, since the proximity of a large city and ships constantly scurrying around the water area do not add transparency to it at all. And in a storm or during large waves, a suspension of sand and clay rises from the bottom, the water just turns brown. Read more about Lyubimovka here
The beach in Lyubimovka -
Uchkuyevka
Uchkuyevka is one of the holiday resorts in Sevastopol (Uchkuyevka on the map of Crimea), where beach holidays are available. Although Uchkuyevka is not an independent settlement, it is a completely independent beach resort where you can go for the entire period of your vacation. True, the rest in this area has features that not every tourist will like.
There is an embankment in Uchkuyevka, but, unfortunately, its condition leaves much to be desired. There are several fast food outlets and cafes on it, there are rest shops, free showers and toilets, and there is a mini-market with tourist goods at the entrance. In the evenings, canteens and cafes that work during the day "turn" into entertainment venues with dancing, but, of course, there are no nightclubs here or a high level of service and decent cuisine here. In general, this is far from a place for an evening promenade.
But what Uchkuyevka can definitely boast of is the beach. The local beach is almost one and a half kilometers of wide sandy strip. Everywhere there is yellow sand, only in places there are medium and very small pebbles. Learn more about holidays in Uchkuyevka here.
