Sevastopol is a huge city. Its area with all suburbs is 1079 square kilometers, which is only two and a little times inferior to the area of Moscow. Of course, Sevastopol is not as densely built up as Moscow, because most of its territory is wastelands and areas with low population density. However, tourists and vacationers will definitely need transport to move around the city.
Fortunately, transport here is very well developed and is represented by city buses, fixed-route taxis, trolleybuses, ferries, car taxis, and in rare cases you can even use commuter trains. We will tell you in detail about all the ways to move around Sevastopol with transport prices in 2023:
On foot
- 💵 Cost: free of charge
- 🕐 Working hours: around the clock
If you come to Sevastopol to explore the sights and stay in a hotel in the center, then you can visit a lot on foot. After all, the city center is quite compact, the sights and museums are densely located, besides strolling along the renovated sidewalks and embankments is a pleasure. For orientation and navigation, you can use the Yandex or Google online maps applications, or download offline maps to your smartphone Organic Maps , 2Gis, Guru Ma and others like that. You can also upload points of interest and transport to them from our interactive map of Sevastopol.
Taxi in Sevastopol
- 💵 Cost: from 100 rubles/trip
- 🕐 Working hours: around the clock
Because of the sanctions in Sevastopol, the applications of the aggregators Yandex.Go, Uber and all the others do not work. You can try installing the applications of local taxi companies UpTaxi, Shark, Maxim, Pickup, but there are constant problems with them: they either don't work well, or they are blocked in official app stores for working in Crimea, and you will have to download them from taxi company websites and install them in a smartphone with permission "From unknown sources." So for now, the more reliable way is to call a taxi by phone or get into a car on the street.
When landing on the street, prices in crowded places are traditionally overstated. This is the Grafskaya marina area, Tauride Chersonesos, beaches, bus station and railway station. But it is worth walking a few tens of meters, as the prices drop by half, besides, do not forget to bargain if you feel that the driver calls too high a price. In general, you should count on the cost of the shortest trip of at least 100 rubles, and for a trip from the railway station to the hotel, for example, in the area of Uchkuyevka beach, you can request 500 rubles. In general, it is much calmer and more profitable to order a car by calling local taxi companies, then a kilometer of travel will cost 20-30 rubles. Here are the phone numbers:
- Taxi Maxim - tel. +7 (978) 707-77-77
- Sevtaxi - tel. +7 (978) 555-5555
- Ap taxi - tel. +7(978) 7000-401
- Metro Taxi - tel. +7(8692) 55-7777
- Pickup Taxi - tel. +7(8692) 777-000
- First taxi - tel. +7 (978) 333-33-33
- Flagman Taxi - tel. +7(978) 832-64-65
- SOYUZ-TAXI - tel. +7(978) 700-05-45
For long-distance trips to/from the airport, to other resorts or distant beaches, instead of a taxi, you can book a tourist transfer on the site intui.travel, or via the search form:
Buses and trolleybuses in Sevastopol
- 💵 Cost: 26 rubles
- 🕐 Opening Hours: 07:00 - 23:00
The whole of Sevastopol and its suburbs, including remote beaches, are served by urban and suburban bus and trolleybus routes. The transport fleet has been significantly updated: city buses and trolleybuses are modern, with air conditioning and even WiFi on board. Old fixed-route taxis work on some of the routes. The fare is 26 rubles, the same amount when paying by credit card, and 20 rubles when using a city transport card. You can't pay with a bank card on all routes, so always carry some change with you.
Theoretically, they can be used to get to any place in the city, but in practice, unfortunately, not all popular tourist destinations are connected to the center, bus station or railway station by direct public transport flights, and therefore you may have to get there with transfers. For example, you can't get to Balaklava directly from the center, only with transfers.
In addition, to get by bus from the center to the districts and beaches of Uchkuyevka, Lyubimovka, Orlovka, Kacha and other places in the north of the city, you will first have to cross the Sevastopol Bay by passenger ferry (more about ferries below) to take one of the buses from the final stop at the Severnaya bus station (Northern bus stations on the map).
So that you don't have to study all the intricacies of local routes, for each landmark, beach and district of Sevastopol, we have indicated in detail the route numbers on which you can get there. Also, to plan your trip by bus or trolleybus, you can use online cards.Yandex, Google, or install the 2Gis application. On the maps, you can both view routes and create a trip route, including with transfers. For some city routes, you can even see the position of the transport on the map in motion.
Ferries and boats through Sevastopol Bay
Ferries and boats in Sevastopol are as much an integral part of the public transport system as buses and trolleybuses, and you will almost certainly have to use them. The fact is that Sevastopol is divided into northern and southern parts by the Sevastopol Bay, deep into the land. And in order to get from the south (from the center) to the north side by land, you will have to travel a lot and for a long time, and therefore you can move much faster by regular ferries or boats. And you may need to get to the north side from the center in order to visit the museums in Mikhailovskaya or Konstantinovskaya battery, get to the beaches of Tolstyak, Uchkuyevka or to the Northern bus station, from where suburban and intercity buses depart to the northern resorts and suburbs in Lyubimovka, Orlovka, Download, Peschanoe, Beregovoe, etc.
Regular ferries and boats from the center depart from two places: Artbukhta Pier (marina on the map) and Grafskaya marina (marina on the map). Both of them are within walking distance of each other. There are also two marinas on the other (northern) side: Severnaya (marina on the map) and Radio hill (marina on the map). It is better to go to Severnaya if you need to leave by bus from the Severnaya bus station, and from the Radio Hill you can walk or take city buses to the museum of the Mikhailovskaya and Konstantinovskaya batteries, to Tolstsyak beach or Uchkuyevka beach.
The marinas are connected by regular routes in the following directions:
- From Grafskaya pier ferries go only to the North
- From Artbukhta, steam trains go to Severnaya and Radiogorka
Using ferries is as easy as using buses. Come to the pier, buy a ticket and board the next flight. The cost of a ferry ticket is 30 rubles, for a boat – 24 rubles. Departure takes place every 10-20 minutes from 05:00 to 23:45.
Rent a car or motorcycle in Sevastopol
- 💵 Cost: from 1400 rubles/day
- 🕐 Working hours: around the clock
If you prefer complete freedom of movement, you can rent a car in Sevastopol. However, it is much more convenient and profitable to rent a car immediately at the airport upon arrival. Firstly, it is cheaper to rent at the airport, and secondly, you will be able to get to the place of rest immediately by car, and not spend money on a taxi. The cost of a day when renting for several days at the airport starts from only 650 rubles in low season / from 1400 in high season. In high season, it is recommended to book a car in advance, which can be done on these trusted sites or through the search form and comparison of rental prices of different companies:
In addition to the car, you can rent a low-powered moped (scooter) or a full-fledged motorcycle. For a scooter, you won't even need a license, and for a motorcycle you will definitely need a category "A" in your VU. The rental price starts from 800 rubles / day when renting for 7 days or more, more expensive for a short period.
It's up to you to decide whether to rent a scooter or a motorcycle, but we'll give you our advice on this. It is not safe to move directly around Sevastopol on a scooter, and besides, it is not very profitable. At this rental price, you may well make several trips during the day by taxi for the same amount. Therefore, in our opinion, it makes sense to rent a two-wheeled vehicle only for longer trips and trips, for example, to places of interest in the vicinity or in general for a multi-day motorcycle trip around the peninsula.
