What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Caravella Beach is one of three popular and conditionally equipped beaches under the cliff at Cape Fiolent. Also on Fiolent there is Jasper Beach and Tsar's Beach, and Tsar's Beach is located very close behind the rock with Diana's Grotto. As with other beaches on the cape, the Caravel will have to descend from a height of 90 meters via an equipped staircase. This is less than Jasper (170 meters) or Tsarsky (100 meters), but still the descent is long and exhausting, especially in the heat, because there is no shelter throughout the descent. Despite this, there are always plenty of people who want to relax here because of the clean water and beautiful views. By the way, only from the Caravel you can see the Diana's Grotto from the shore, and if you wish, swim and swim through it on a kayak or surfboard.
The beach is small in area, because in high season it can be crowded and there is not enough space for everyone. Then you will have to go to the neighboring beaches, for which you need to climb the stairs again to the same 90 meters and walk along the top, but there is no way to go along the shore. Alternatively, you can rent a kayak here and swim to the secluded "beaches" next door, which are wild and inaccessible from the shore. However, you need to understand that for all the rest time you will have to pay for kayak rental, which is about 500 rubles / hour.
There are mostly large pebbles on the shore of the Caravel, sometimes with sharp stones. The entrance to the water is steep, and there are large boulders at the bottom, and therefore, without special shoes like "aquashuz", you should not even think about comfortable bathing. But they do not always save, because you can hit huge boulders during the waves, so be careful. Because of the rocks, the depth and the long descent, this beach is not at all suitable for a holiday with children.
The Caravella beach is modestly equipped: there is only a rental of deck chairs, kayaks and SUP-surfs are offered, and even then only at the height of the season. Therefore, it is necessary to take water, food, bedding or an air mattress, an umbrella from the sun, sunscreen with you.

🚶 How to get there
"Caravella" is located in the Balaklava district of Sevastopol on Cape Fiolent, it is about 15 kilometers from the city center (Caravella beach on the map). You can get to it by Sevastopol city buses, boats from Balaclavas or by private transport:
By bus from the center of Sevastopol, Balaklava and other resorts
It will not be difficult to get to the Caravel from the city center by city buses with a transfer. You need to go to the stops "Caravella Recreation center" or "Tsarskoye Selo", buses No. 3, 24, 79 or 35 go to them (direct from Balaklava). All these routes do not follow from the city center, and therefore you will most likely have to go with transfers. The most convenient place to transfer is the Sevastopol Cucumber interchange near the Simol shopping center/Sea Mall, where all four mentioned routes are passing, and many flights from the center come here. By the way, through the Sevastopol Cucumber and Simol/Sea Mall can be reached from other nearby resorts of the Crimea, including Yalta. Planning a trip on the bus with transfers can use Yandex maps, 2Gis, or Google maps, there are now lists all city routes. Read more about Sevastopol city transport and how tourists can travel here.
By boat from Balaklava
Tourist boats from Balaclava go to the beach, which will avoid the laborious descent down the stairs. But for such a pleasure you will have to fork out 300 rubles / person in one direction, 40 minutes on the way. But boats rarely depart, only if enough passengers are recruited, so the performance of the flight is not guaranteed, especially the return from the beach to Balaklava.
By private car
To get to the Caravel in your car, you need to go to Cape Fiolent. You can't drive directly to the stairs to go down to the beach by car, and therefore you will have to look for parking places somewhere nearby, and there are problems with this. The fact is that the entire coastal zone on the Fiolent is occupied by arrays of co-op, i.e. dachas, on the territory of which narrow streets are laid without the possibility of parking, besides barriers are installed at the entrances. There are more or less accessible parking spaces along the droga on the way to the Diana Grotto campsite, or you can drive up to one of the observation decks on Fiolenta, and from there to the beach is almost one and a half kilometers. All parking lots here are unguarded, so you'll have to leave the car at your own risk.
