Diana's Grotto is one of the most beautiful and unusual natural tourist attractions in Sevastopol, located on Cape Fiolent. It is a rocky formation protruding into the sea with a through hole resembling an arch. Boats often pass through it. Here you can dive with a mask and scuba gear, but you need to be careful because of the characteristics of the bottom. Daredevils even jump from the top of a cliff, but this is a dubious and dangerous pleasure.

The grotto is best visited by boat as part of an excursion trip from Balaklava, or while relaxing on Tsarskoye beach or Caravella beach, where you can rent a kayak or SUP-surf at a cost of 500 rubles / hour. By the way, if you want to see Diana's grotto from the shore, then you need to go to Caravella beach, because only from it there is a view of the through grotto itself, but from the side of the Royal beach you will see only the rocky cape of the grotto.

🚶 How to get there

Diana's Grotto is located on Cape Fiolent, it is about 15 kilometers from the city center (Diana's grotto on the map). The best views of the grotto from the shore open from the side of the Caravella beach, this is to the right of the grotto rock, but from the observation decks at the tip of Cape Fiolent or from the Royal Beach it cannot be seen in all its glory. If you want to swim through the grotto, then this can be done both from the Caravel and from the Royal beach. You can swim on kayaks or SUP-surfs, which are offered on these beaches for rent at 500 rubles / hour. And here's how you can get to Cape Fiolent and Caravella beach in particular on your own:

By bus from the center of Sevastopol, Balaklava and other resorts

It will not be difficult to get to the Caravel from the city center by city buses with a transfer. You need to go to the stops "Caravel Recreation center" or "Tsarskoye Selo", and if you want to walk along Cape Fiolent first and enjoy the views from its observation decks, you can get to the stops "Stvor" or "Tsarskoye Selo". To the stops there are buses No. 3, 24, 79 or 35 (direct from Balaklava). All these routes do not follow from the city center, and therefore you will most likely have to go with transfers. The most convenient place to transfer is the Sevastopol Cucumber interchange near the Simol shopping center/Sea Mall, where all four mentioned routes are passing, and many flights from the center come here. By the way, through the Sevastopol Cucumber and Simol/Sea Mall can be reached from other nearby resorts of the Crimea, including Yalta. Planning a trip on the bus with transfers can use Yandex maps, 2Gis, or Google maps, there are now lists all city routes. Read more about Sevastopol city transport and how tourists can travel here.

By boat from Balaklava

Tourist boats from Balaclava go to the beach and to the grotto, which will avoid the laborious descent down the stairs. But for such a pleasure you will have to fork out 300 rubles / person in one direction, 40 minutes on the way. But boats rarely depart, only if enough passengers are recruited, so the performance of the flight is not guaranteed, especially the return from the beach to Balaklava.

By private car

To get to the Caravel in your car, you need to go to Cape Fiolent. You can't drive directly to the stairs to go down to the beach by car, and therefore you will have to look for parking places somewhere nearby, and there are problems with this. The fact is that the entire coastal zone on the Fiolent is occupied by arrays of co-op, i.e. dachas, on the territory of which narrow streets are laid without the possibility of parking, besides barriers are installed at the entrances. There are more or less accessible parking spaces along the droga on the way to the Diana Grotto campsite, or you can drive up to one of the observation decks on Fiolenta, and from there to the beach and the grotto is almost one and a half kilometers. All parking lots here are unguarded, so you will have to leave the car at your own risk.

We remind you that it is much more interesting to get acquainted with the sights of Sevastopol with the help of excursions, and therefore we advise you to look at online booking options on these proven search and price comparison sites:
