What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Wild pebble Tsarskoye Beach or Tsarskoye Selo is located 15 kilometers from the center of Sevastopol on Cape Fiolent (Tsarskiy beach on the map). Sometimes it is also called Patriot Beach or nudist beach, or even Diana's Grotto beach, although in fact it's all the same place.
This is one of the farthest and most inaccessible beaches of Sevastopol, because to get to it, you will have to go down a steep staircase from the high steep coast at Cape Fiolent. But do not think that this is a completely secluded and forgotten place by tourists. On the contrary, the opportunity to be in such a remote place attracts a lot of people who want to retire here, as well as those who like to sunbathe without clothes. In fairness, it should be noted that nudists try to stay here not in the thick of people, but move a little to the left along the shore so as not to embarrass adults and not scare children. But at the beginning and at the end of the tourist season (this is May, early June and September) there are so few vacationers here that you may well be the only ones on this shore.
The water here is amazingly clear, you can dive with a mask. The total length of the beach is 200 meters, and it is divided by a rock in the middle and bounded by steep cliffs at the edges. There are only pebbles on the shore, small and flat, so it does not create much inconvenience when entering the water. But do not forget that there is a sharp rock of volcanic origin around, because Cape Fiolent is a former volcano, and therefore swimming shoes will not hurt here at all, as there will be no unnecessary caution when bathing. On the shore, too, be careful and stay away from vertical rocks, as stones sometimes fall from them from above.
A special decoration and at the same time entertainment of Tsarskoye beach is a natural landmark - Diana's Grotto. This is a rock that protrudes into the sea with a through tunnel through which you can walk or swim. But we do not recommend doing it yourself by swimming, after all, it is very dangerous, because there are sharp rocks around. It is better to swim through it by kayak or SUP-board, which can be rented here. If you want to see this through grotto from the shore, then it's better to go to the neighboring Caravella beach, because from the Royal view opens only to the protruding rock with the grotto, and not to the grotto itself.
There are no amenities on the shore of the Tsar's beach, you will even have to change clothes behind rocks or hiding behind a towel. Therefore, take a towel or an air mattress with you, you can have an umbrella from the sun, water is required, you can have something to eat. Sometimes in peak season there are kayak rentals and SUP-boards for 500 rubles / hour, it is much safer to explore the grotto on them. You can also rent a mask with a diving tube.

🚶 How to get there
Tsarsky beach is located on Cape Fiolent on the outskirts of Sevastopol in Balaklava district, it is about 15 kilometers from the city center (Tsar's beach on the map). This is a rather difficult beach to access, and the point is not only that it is located far from the center, but also that you will have to go down 100 meters of metal stairs along a steep, steep shore, and, accordingly, climb the same way back. And 100 meters is, no less, about 35 floors.
Directly to the point of descent to the beach, i.e. to this very metal staircase, can only be reached on foot. Even by car you can't get close here, because the west coast is densely built up with residential sector and everything is blocked by fences. Theoretically, you can drive into this residential area and leave your car there, but this is provided that you accidentally slip through one of the barriers to enter it. In practice, it is better to focus on the access along the dirt road to the hotel area with the name "Diana" and to the camping "Grotto Diana". Alternatively, you can drive up to the observation point at Cape Fiolent (see about Cape Fiolent in detail here ...), and from there walk to the stairs 1 kilometer along the trail.
You can also get here by bus. You need to go to the stop "Recreation center Caravel" or "Tsarskoye Selo", and from there through the residential area on foot a little less than a kilometer. They are reached by Sevastopol city buses No. 3, 24, 35, 79, but all not from the city center, and therefore you will most likely have to go with transfers. The most convenient place to transfer is the Sevastopol Cucumber interchange near the Simol shopping center/Sea Mall, where all four mentioned routes are passing, and many flights from the center come here. By the way, through the Sevastopol Cucumber and Simol/Sea Mall to Fiolent can be reached from other nearby resorts of the Crimea, including Yalta.
