Uchkuyevka is one of the holiday resorts in Sevastopol (Uchkuyevka on the map of Crimea), where beach holidays are available. Although Uchkuyevka is not an independent settlement, it is a completely independent beach resort where you can go for the entire period of your vacation. True, rest in Uchkuyevka has features that not every tourist will like, and we will tell you about them in detail and honestly in this guide.

Rest in Uchkuyevka

Uchkuyevka is a typical beach resort with long sandy and small pebble beaches within the city limits Sevastopol. It is with its beaches that it primarily stands out among other beach areas of Sevastopol, in which pebbles, sharp stones and even concrete are mostly on the shore. At the same time, it is difficult to call Uchkuyevka a typical urban area, since it is more like a village or a village in terms of atmosphere. The whole resort and the whole tourist life here is actually concentrated on the beach and on the embankment, and outside of them it's just a sleeping urban area and a private sector.

Rest in Uchkuyevka is suitable for tourists of any age, including for families with children due to the sandy beach and shallow depth. However, you need to understand that this is far from Yalta or Yevpatoria with their entertainment and resort atmosphere. Yes, officially it is a city, but the tourist infrastructure and the atmosphere of recreation here are not urban at all, everything is modest and simple, there is a minimum of entertainment. The situation is saved, perhaps, by the proximity to the center of Sevastopol, where you can get out during the day. But even here there is a difficulty: although the center is relatively close (only four kilometers away), but to get there from Uchkuyevka, you will have to drive for almost an hour with a bus-ferry transfer.

There is also its own embankment in the area, but, unfortunately, its condition leaves much to be desired. There are several fast food outlets and cafes on the embankment, there are rest shops, free showers and toilets, and there is a mini-market with tourist goods at the entrance. In the evenings, canteens and cafes that work during the day "turn" into entertainment venues with dancing, but, of course, there are no nightclubs here or a high level of service and decent cuisine here. In general, the local promenade is far from a place for an evening promenade.

Beaches in Uchkuyevka

But what Uchkuyevka can definitely boast of is the beach. The local beach is almost one and a half kilometers of a wide sandy strip, which is conditionally divided into the city beach of Uchkuyevka, Lazur, Crimean Cuba and Mokrousov's Cottage. But in fact, all this is one continuous shore without dividers and fences, which will really appeal to lovers of jogging along the beach and walking along the sea. Everywhere there is yellow sand, only in places there are medium and very small pebbles. To swim here, you won't even need the "aquashouses" that are so necessary on other Crimean beaches, here you can go into the water barefoot. The slope of the bottom is almost perfect: children can swim near the shore, and lovers of swimming can go a little further from the shore to a decent depth.

The most developed and well–maintained part of the beach is the city beach opposite the embankment. There are free changing booths, traditional plastic deck chairs from 200 rubles/day and more comfortable double gazebos for 800 rubles/day are offered for rent. There is a zone with traditional water activities such as banana riding and gyro scooter rental, but there is not much variety of entertainment.

Even at the peak of the season, the beach in Uchkuyevka is not crowded, there are plenty of places to relax. But if you want more free space, you can walk along the shore to the left towards the center of Sevastopol to the wild and nudist beaches.

However, it is impossible not to mention one disadvantage of the beach in Uchkuyevka. Unfortunately, during bad weather, storms and strong winds, a lot of algae are thrown ashore here, which immediately begin to rot under the scorching sun and emit an extremely unpleasant smell. They are not always in a hurry to clean up these rotting bushes, and therefore it is possible to enjoy such "aromas" during the rest until the waves take everything into the sea again.

Infrastructure

As we have already noted, Uchkuyevka is more like a village than an urban area, respectively, the infrastructure is poorly developed. There are no chain supermarkets and shopping centers, goods and products can only be bought in small stores at inflated prices. There is a mini-market with tourist goods and fruits near the embankment, but the prices there are also very high, as well as for fast food on the embankment. If you need to save money, then you will have to go shopping in the residential area along Bogdanov Street to the Leader supermarket, the only supermarket in the district, or take a bus to the Northern bus Station of the airport, where there is a mini-market of local vegetables and fruits at great prices. By the way, if you think that after crossing by passenger ferry to the other side of Sevastopol Bay to the center, you will immediately find a chain supermarket there, then you are very mistaken, there are none there either.

The tourist infrastructure of the Uchkuvka district is concentrated exclusively on and near the embankment. There are several canteens and cafes with no claims to quality, but with claims to your wallets, i.e. everything is expensive. Here you can also find sellers of excursions and taxi drivers.

Hotels and accommodation in Uchkuyevka, where to stay

There are not very many accommodation options in Uchkuyevka. There are several private guest houses and mini-hotels here, but most of the accommodation is rented rooms and apartments for vacationers. There are no large hotels and sanatoriums here, besides, most guest houses and mini-hotels operate illegally without signage, so if you want to get a quality holiday with a guarantee of high service, it's better to choose another resort of Crimea.

If you like to rest in a tent or at camp sites, you can stay in a campsite on the conditional first line from the beach, i.e. approximately within five minutes on foot. However, you should not expect to save money in local camping, and at the same time get comfortable accommodation. For the same money that you pay here, you can rent a more decent room or apartment with all the amenities not on the first line, while at the campsite you will have to put up with old accommodation houses, shared bathrooms and showers on the territory, etc.

Weather and tourist seasons in Uchkuyevka

The tourist season in Uchkuyevka runs from May to October, and the rest of the year from November to April there is nothing to do in Uchkuvka. The first tourists begin to arrive in May, and the infrastructure on the beach and the promenade unfolds only from the first days of June. At the same time, the water for comfortable bathing warms up only by the second half of June, so it's better to go here with children at the height of the season – July and August.

How to get to Uchkuyevka

Uchkuyevka beach or country road is located in the north of Simferopol in Nakhimovsky district just 3 kilometers from the center in a straight line (Uchkuyevka on the map of Crimea), and therefore most transport routes lead here through the center of Sevastopol, where the railway station and the city bus station are located. The nearest operating passenger airport is located in Simferopol. Here are brief instructions:

• 🚌 By bus from Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yevpatoria, but only routes to the Northern bus station of Sevastopol go to Uchkuyevka, and from other cities you will have to go with transfers in the city center.
• ✈ By plane to Simferopol airport and from there by taxi from 1800 rubles, by bus to the Northern bus station of Sevastopol, or with a transfer by bus through the center of Simferopol or Sevastopol.
• 🚆 By train to Sevastopol railway station from Moscow and St. Petersburg, and then by taxi or city transport with transfers bus->ferry->bus.
• 🚆 By train to Simferopol railway station and from there by taxi from 1600 rubles, or by bus to Sevastopol Northern bus station.
• 🚗 By car across the Crimean Bridge and then along the Tavrida highway through Simferopol (this is the shortest and best route), or along the southern coast of Crimea through Koktebel, Sudak, Alushta, Yalta and Sevastopol (this is a scenic route, but much longer and may require an additional overnight stay along the way).

Sights of Uchkuyevka

Directly in Uchkuyevka there is only one place that can be classified as a tourist attraction – this is a modern and renovated park, which can be safely called the pride of the area. But you will not be bored on vacation here, because the district is part of the hero city of Sevastopol, which is very full of all kinds of historical sights and memorable places. Some of them are located on the north side of the city and are accessible on foot or by local buses. But most of the sights of Sevastopol are located on the other side of Sevastopol Bay, where you will have to cross by regular ferry from the Northern bus station / pier, which, however, will not cause any difficulties, since transport goes very often. In addition to interesting places directly in Uchkuyevka and in the city center, you can also go to on your own for one dayYalta, Simferopol, Bakhchisarai, Yevpatoria, Balaklava and cape Fiolent. To do this, you can use passing buses (to Yevpatoria, Bakhchisarai and Simferopol), or take a 10-minute city bus ride to the Northern Bus Station, and there transfer to suburban or intercity buses.
