On Phuket has a large selection of hotels, but do not forget that this is, first of all, a resort island, and quite expensive by Thai standards. Therefore, hotels in Phuket are somewhat more expensive than on the mainland. The cost of the room will also greatly depend on the location relative to the beach: the closer to the shore, the more expensive. Almost at the water's edge, you can rent a good room with air conditioning from 1200 baht. In places where you have to walk or drive a little to the beach, you can get a room of the same quality for 500 baht. In the low season, from April to October, prices fall sharply. In general, there are very large seasonal fluctuations in the cost of hotels in Phuket. The difference in cost in low and high season can reach two times, which is not typical of Thailand as a whole. The maximum price level for hotels in Phuket is reached during the New Year holidays, as well as during the Thai New Year Songkran (in early April). In general, the expensive season usually lasts from November to April. In the period from May to October, prices are reduced.
We recommend booking expensive hotels and mid-level hotels in advance (mid-level hotels by our standards are hotels from 1000 baht), especially if you plan to relax on the island during the high season (from November to May). Of course, you can always find a hotel already on the spot, but in good hotels rooms are dismantled for a couple of months in advance. Therefore, choosing a hotel on arrival, you will have to be content with what is left.

When choosing a hotel in Phuket, it is very important to choose the right place. In principle, nothing prevents you from coming to the island and checking in for a couple of days at one of the hotels on one of the popular beaches, and then finding a more suitable place for yourself. Keep in mind that there are very few hotels on the first line in Phuket, and even more so hotels with their own beach. There are literally few such places. If you definitely prefer to stay in such a hotel, it's better to go straight to our list of hotels in Phuket with its own beach.

Patong (Patong Beach, Thai. Haad Patong)
If you want to be in the center of events and fun – this is the place for you. All conditions have been created here for tourists. Many hotels and nightclubs, shops and diving centers await you here. Here, you will find all kinds of adult entertainment for yourself: transvestite shows, go-go bars, sex clubs, massage parlors, gay bars.
There is another obvious advantage of being located in Patong – it is the main tourist center, and all roads lead here. Staying here, during the day you can go to any other beach on the island, and in the evening come back here to have fun and relax at night in your hotel.
Accommodation here can be found at any level – from renting a room in the homes of local residents to a five-star hotel. Prices start from 300 baht for a room without air conditioning (but there are very few of them) and from 500 baht for a room with air conditioning. More or less comfortable accommodation costs from 1000 baht. In the low season (from June to October), accommodation prices drop sharply.
Patong Area -
Karon (Karon Beach, Thai. Hat Karon)
In 2008, Karon Beach was ranked eighth in the world among the best beaches in the world, and it is definitely the best beach on the island. Karon consists of two beaches: small Karon (Karon Noi Beach), and big Karon (Karon Beach).
Unlike Patong, the nightlife here is quieter, but present. The beaches here are cleaner and the water is more transparent. By the way, the sand here creaks like snow, and this is not to be found anywhere else in Phuket, it's very nice. The bottom is varied, and in some places it goes sharply under the water and the depth is decent, and somewhere it is flat and safe for children. In the period from April to October, south-westerly winds form large ocean waves, and this place becomes not very suitable for calm swimming, but very attractive for surfing. And from June to August, when there are the biggest waves, swimming here becomes dangerous. In general, in terms of waves, this place is considered the most unfavorable in Phuket, and people often die here.
Hotels in the Karon area are located mostly not near the beach itself, but are separated from it by a road. Most of the hotels are located on the Big Karon (Karon Beach).
You can advise to relax here for those who want to spend a lot of time on the beach and swim in clean water, and at the same time be close to entertainment and nightlife.
Karon Beach -
Kata (Kata Beach)
Kata area, consisting of two beaches Kata Yai and Kata Noi, is located 31 km from airport on the west coast of the island (Kata beach on Phuket map). The coast of Kata Beach is divided into two parts: the big Kata, or Kata Main Beach, and the far Kata, or Kata Noi. Kata Noi is located 500 meters south of the big Kata and is separated from it by a small cape (dalny Kata beach on Phuket map).
There are no night discos and debauchery, although you can sit in the bar in the evening. This is a quiet place, perhaps the best for a family holiday.
The beach is closed from the winds and waves by the surrounding hills. The bottom of the big Kata goes under the water very smoothly and therefore swimming here is considered safe even for children, but it is difficult to swim here at low tide. There are a little less waves here than on the neighboring Kata, but they are still present out of season.
This place is highly recommended for those who love silence and came on vacation with family and children. There are all conditions for a tourist holiday here, including restaurants, exchange offices, shops.
Kata Beach -
Bang Tao (also Bang Thao)
The longest beach on the island, Bang Tao, frames the bay with a coastline length of about 8 kilometers. The best and most expensive hotels of the island are located here. Beaches with the purest sand are considered one of the best on the island, and the bay itself is the most picturesque place.
The northern part of the beach is almost wild, and for many kilometers there is nothing on it, not even restaurants and sunbeds. It will really appeal to those who like long romantic walks along the coast. At the same time, the southern part of the district is more developed, all hotels and tourist infrastructure are located in it. But for a budget tourist there are few opportunities here.
Bang Tao Beach -
Kamala (Kamala Beach)
Kamala is a paradise for those who prefer silence. This new developing tourist destination is a great place for a relaxing and comfortable stay, and at the same time the area is very close to the center of nightlife and entertainment of the island – Patong beach.

Nai Harn (Nai Harn Beach)
Nai Harn Beach is considered one of the most beautiful on the island. It is small in size (just over 600 meters), cozy, surrounded by pine trees and very sparsely populated. The beach has very fine white sand, clear water. The rich underwater world allows you to go diving and snorkeling.
During the rainy season (especially from June to August) there are strong currents and waves here, so this is not the best choice for a beach holiday at this time. The bottom goes under the water here and is not too steep and not too hollow, and the influence of the tides is not strong here.
Entertainment on the shore here, except for a few restaurants, you will not find.
Naiharn Beach -
Surin (Surin Beach, Thai. Ao Surin)
Nice and very popular beach in high season. In the low season, quite large waves form here and this place becomes popular with surfers and dangerous for ordinary swimmers.
The infrastructure in the beach area is developed and self-sufficient. Here you can do not only beach holidays, but also shopping: there are several large shopping centers located here. There are also several discos and entertainment centers.
Hotel accommodation here is expensive and, in general, Surin is famous for expensive luxury hotels and restaurants.

Naiton (Nai Thon Beach, Thai. Hat Nai Thon)
Naiton is another of the nicest and quietest beaches in Phuket. The beach itself and the area around it are part of the Phuket National Reserve.
This pristine beach is ideal for relaxation away from the crowds. The beach is sparsely populated even at the height of the season. In addition to beach holidays, there is not much to do here, except to visit several restaurants that are famous for fresh seafood dishes.
The length of the beach is about a kilometer. There is very clean water and very fine pleasant sand. The slope of the bottom is very weak, so this place is considered one of the safest places on the island for a holiday with children, especially in the season from November to March, when there are no waves. True, there is a downside, a strong influence of the tide.
Hotels here can be counted on the fingers, and budget accommodation is difficult to find.
Naiton Beach -
Mai Khao Beach
Mae Khao is the longest beach on the island (9 kilometers). There is almost no tourist infrastructure here, and only a few expensive hotels are scattered at great distances from each other. Staying here, you will find yourself alone with the sea and a pristine beach.
The beach here can not be called safe, especially in low season. Along all nine kilometers of the coast there are many dangerous undercurrents that can take you into the open ocean, besides there are no rescuers anywhere.
This is a great place if you are looking for a serene and secluded place, but do not go here in the low season, otherwise your vacation will be centered around the hotel pool.
