Bang Tao Beach (Bang Thao, Bang Tao, also Laguna Beach) Phuket is located on the west coast in the central part of the island (Bang Tao on the island map). This is a very long beach, its length is almost 8 kilometers.

Despite all the advantages of the beach, in our opinion Bang Tao is not the best place for the average tourist to settle for the entire holiday period. This is mostly an expensive resort with expensive hotels and high prices for all services, so a budget tourist can't really turn around here.

Bang Tao can be divided into northern and southern parts:

The northern part of Bang Tao (this is the one that is closer to the airport) is mostly undeveloped, with no hotels or infrastructure at all. Only in places right on the beach here you can find cafes, and outside the beach there is only a road, and there is nothing. But there are almost no tourists here, and this is a great place to retire. However, in the northern part, the beach is somewhat worse than in the south, namely, a narrow strip of sand (during high tide, literally a few meters of sand remain in places). The beach here is deserted not only from tourists, but also from sunbeds and entertainment. Sunbeds can be found only near rare cafes.

The southern part (this is the one that is closer to Patong beach) is strikingly different in terms of infrastructure from the northern one. All hotels, shops and other infrastructure are located here. However, you should not expect the same situation from the southern part as in ordinary resort areas. Everything is different here. There are not many shops and shops on the streets, merchants and entertainers, travel agencies and rental offices, cafes and cheap eateries. Everything is clean, rich, civil and sterile. Something similar to the usual noisy and developed tourist areas begins only in the extreme south of the area along the main road, and gradually turns into Surin Beach. The beach itself in the south is also much more developed. There are a lot of sunbeds, tourists, entertainment.

Now about Bang Tao Beach itself. Although the slope of the bottom varies throughout the beach, in general it is normal and uniform, the bottom is flat, you can swim already ten meters from the shore. The bottom is clean almost everywhere, without stones. The sand is white, very clean. There are almost no palm trees, mostly coniferous casuarina trees stretch along the coast. Strong waves can create problems, especially in the low season, but in the mornings it is usually calm at sea.

Getting to Bang Tao local public transport will not work, only taxi or rented transport remains. Despite the fact that the area is expensive, taxi drivers inflate prices both for trips here and from here. A trip from the airport or from Patong beach by taxi will cost from 600 baht (see currency of Thailand, exchange rate), and even then with the ability to bargain. Local songteo shuttle buses run only to the beaches Surin and Kamala for 50 baht.

Hotels in Bang Tao, unlike most other beaches Phuket, are located on the first line, i.e. they go directly to the water. Hence the high prices. Almost all hotels here are chic, with their own territory and price. You can settle from $ 100 per night, and that's even if you're lucky. There are only a few places where you can stay at a price below $ 100, but you need to look for them away from the coast. The bulk of the hotels are concentrated in the southern part of Bang Tao, i.e. closer to Surin Beach, while there is almost nothing in the north. Here, in the south, in a Muslim village there is an opportunity to rent houses or rooms for a long time from 7000 baht per month per room, and from 15,000 house.

Summing up about Bang Tao Beach. Bang Tao Beach is a wonderful place, but not every tourist can afford it. Hotels here are expensive, with their own territory and on the first line. At the same time, no one restricts guests' access to the beach from other beaches, and therefore the northern part of Bang Tao is a great place to get to a deserted secluded beach during the day from other areas of Phuket.
