Via Don Mueang Airport (Don Mueang)
The old Don Mueang Airport specializes in low-cost airline flights and international charter flights. It is located 30 kilometers north of Bangkok. See for more information about Don mueang Airport and how to get there.
There are no direct bus flights to Pattaya from Don Muaeng Airport, so you will have to go either by taxi (1600 baht, 2 hours) or by bus with a transfer through Suvarnabhumi airport or Bangkok.
Transfer via Suvarnabhumi is faster as you bypass the terrible Bangkok traffic. There is a free shuttle bus from Don Mueang to Suvarnabhumi Airport every 30 minutes. But it is free only if you have a boarding pass for departure (not for arrival), so you will have to pay 100 baht for it, or take a taxi from 200 baht. Another option is to take city buses No. 554 or No. 555 for just 36 baht. Further from the Suvarnabhumi airport there are many options to get to Pattaya, and they are described above.
If you go through Bangkok, you can do it through the bus eastern bus station Ekamai, through the northern station Mor Chit, or through the Victory Monument.
By bus
There is a developed bus service in Thailand. In particular, it is very easy to get to Pattaya from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, from Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui and other popular resorts of Thailand. And this is the most inexpensive way to travel around the country. See the bus schedule below.
Most of the state-owned and branded regular buses arrive at the bus station in the north of Pattaya, which is located on the North Pattaya Road near its intersection with the Sukhumvit road highway (see Pattaya Bus Station on the map). But if you need to get to south Pattaya (to Jomtien), there are branded buses that follow the Sukhumvit road highway to the southern part of the city. From the bus station in the north of Pattaya to the center can be easily reached by local shuttle buses Bath Bus for 20 baht.
In addition to regular buses running between bus stations, there is also a well-developed network of private tourist buses and minivans. Tickets for them are sold in all travel agencies and hotels, and they offer very favorable prices and convenient conditions, since they pick up passengers directly from hotels, and there is no need to deal with bus stations and get to them on their own. But we usually do not recommend using such private buses, especially for long-distance travel. It is not uncommon for passengers of such buses to lose things, frequent and long transplants are possible during a long-distance route, the promised schedule is almost never observed (do not risk going on them if you have a plane or train transfer), sometimes tourists were even forgotten during transfers or not taken to the promised place.

From Bangkok to Pattaya by bus
The most frequent route departs from Bangkok's Eastern Bus Terminal every 30 minutes from 05:20 to 23:20. The Eastern bus terminal in Bangkok is located on Sukhumvit road at 63 Soi 63 or Soi Ekkamai Lane, at Ekkamai BTS station Skytrain (see bus stations in Bangkok).
A similar route departs from Bangkok's Northern bus Terminal (Northern Bus Terminal or Mo Chit) near the Mochit BTS station Skytrain station. Buses run from 5:30 to 20:00 every 30 minutes.
From the southern terminal of Bangkok (Southern Bus Terminal, Sai Tai Mai), buses depart to 05:30 , 08:30 , 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:30. You can only get to the south terminal by bus or taxi.
The cost of the routes averages 140 baht and varies depending on the route, day of the week and even time of day. To leave Bangkok, just come to the bus terminal, which is easier to reach from your hotel (preferably north or west), buy a ticket for the nearest flight and go. Tickets are not sold in advance, but begin to be sold an hour before departure.
Mini-buses. Mini buses (minibuses) are constantly running between Pattaya and Bangkok, the fare in which is even lower than in regular buses. The disadvantage of using these buses is that they are not designed for traveling with large luggage: there is no luggage compartment in minibuses to accommodate large suitcases, although it is quite possible to accommodate a backpack or bag. And yet, minibuses do not always adhere to the stated schedule and can easily go half an hour or an hour later. Otherwise, there are only advantages: travel costs only 97 baht; depart every 15 minutes from 6:00 to 20:00; depart / arrive in tourist areas, which is especially convenient in Pattaya. In Bangkok, buses depart and arrive at Victory Monument Bus Station. Additional information, arrival and departure points (marked on the map) can be found on the official website http://www.pattayavan.com.
Tourist buses from Bangkok. There are also many routes organized by tourism companies in Thailand. Basically, these are mini buses that will pick you up from your hotel in Bangkok (Pattaya) and take you to the right hotel in Pattaya (Bangkok). The cost of such routes is about 400 baht. It is necessary to buy tickets for them in advance at travel agencies on the street.
You can get detailed information about the cost, schedule and departure locations, for example, on the website of one of the carriers http://www.pattayabus.com

By train
Thailand has a good railway system connecting the main cities, including Pattaya.
A train runs between Bangkok and Pattaya from Monday to Friday, the fare of which is only 40 baht. According to our information, the train does not run on Saturdays and Sundays. The travel time is 3 hours, but it is a very interesting way to get to know the country and its inhabitants.
Train timetable:
- Departure from Bangkok (Hualumpong Station) - 06:55
- Arrival in Pattaya - 10:35
- Departure from Pattaya - 14:21
- Arrival in Bangkok – 18:25

In Pattaya, the train makes two stops: at the railway station (cm. the station on the map) and at the Pattaya Tai Train Station stop (see Pattaya Tai Train Station on the map). They are located quite far from the center (both stations are marked on the map). To get from them to the center, you will have to take a taxi or a motorcycle taxi, or take local public transport Baht Bus (minibus) for 30 baht, which is expected by train passengers.
The Bangkok-Pattaya ticket costs 32 baht. There is no point in buying tickets or booking them in advance when departing from Pattaya: just come to the station thirty minutes before departure, buy a ticket and go (the sale opens 30 minutes before the train departs). If you are leaving from the Pattaya Tai Train Station stop (there is no ticket office there), you can simply enter the car and pay for the ticket already on the train while driving.
