The most interesting places for tourist shopping
Hua Hin Shopping is not very developed when compared with Bangkok, or even Phuket or Pattaya. There is only one full-fledged large shopping center here, otherwise you can buy something in small shops, markets or in specialized salons. Here are the most interesting places for shopping that deserve the attention of tourists:
-
Hua Hin Market Village
This is the most important, largest and in fact the only full-fledged shopping center and entertainment complex in Hua Hin. There are a lot of sparkling boutiques, inexpensive departments, there is a cinema and a food court, a Lotus's Go Fresh supermarket. It is perfectly air-conditioned, and it's nice to even just go in here and cool off a little from the merciless heat outside.
Open from 10:00 to 22:00. Located 10 minutes walk from the center of Hua Hin on the main road Phetkasem.
-
Hua Hin Night Market
Hua Hin Night Market, also called Night Bazaar– is a great place to make purchases such as gifts and souvenirs for relatives, it is not suitable for more serious purchases. The assortment here is mostly tourist, consists of souvenirs, costume jewelry, jewelry, bags. There are some clothes, of course, also for tourists, with images based on Hua Hin or Thailand. But what is really worth going here for is the cheerful atmosphere and abundance of food: this is a real open-air food court. There is an art zone here, where artists and craftsmen work, there is a gallery.
The market is open from 18:00 to 22:00. Located directly in the center of Hua Hin on Soi Hua Hin 72 Street, a few minutes walk from the clock tower (night market on Hua Hin map).
-
Day Market Chat Chai Market
If you want to buy any inexpensive "junk" and products, you can take a look at this indoor market, which is conveniently located in the very center. Basically, this is a place where local residents are bought, so the range of goods here is not tourist, but everyday.
Chat Chai Market is open from early morning until 18:00. It is located almost in the very center, next to the Hua Hin night market.
-
Cicada Market
This is another night market, relatively new. Here, too, you can buy inexpensive tourist souvenirs, there are some jewelry, bags and clothes. But the main idea of the market is an art market. Here you can find works by local artists and craftsmen, as well as everything to create yourself. There is a gallery, live music and shows (usually on Fridays and Saturdays). In general, this is also a good market for evening walks and pastime, but not for serious shopping.
Cicada Market is open from 16:00 to 22:00, but it is better to come here at sunset. Located in the southern part of the city in the area Khao Takiab Mountains (Cicada Market on the map). It is best to get here by taxi or green songteo.
Plearnwan -
Plearnwan Retro Market
This is also a market and a great place for evening walks. It will be interesting to visit it, even if you are not going to buy anything. This place is stylized as the 50s of the last century, and looks more like a museum of the fifties than just a market. Actually, the trade here is presented in the form of separate shops, there is also a food court, there is a cinema.
Plearnwan is open from Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 22:00, on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to midnight. It is located almost three kilometers from the center to the north, so it is best to get there by songteo minibus (green), or taxi (Plearnwan on the map).
-
Huahin Floating Market
This market is not a bit like a real traditional Thai floating market. This is just an entertainment park-market created in the style of traditional floating markets in Thailand, although there is only water and boats from the floating market. Tourists and locals come here to sit in a cafe, do tourist shopping, go boating on the lake on a ship or duck boats. Shopping here is not very diverse, mainly goods for tourists are sold. It is more likely to consider it as a tourist attraction than as a serious place for shopping.
It is open daily from 09:00 to 20:00, shows are shown at 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. It is located outside the city, about 10 kilometers from the center along Hua Hin Soi street, 112 (floating market on Hua Hin map). It is best to get there by taxi or rented transport. You can try to take a white minibus from the railway station, the cost is 20 baht (0.6 USD, see Thailand's currency and exchange rate).
-
Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
Sam Phan Nam Floating Market, in our opinion, is the most interesting and worth visiting of the three floating markets near Hua Hin. However, the point is not shopping at all, but that it is the closest to a real traditional Thai floating market. Although he is very far from the real market. Shopping here is modest, mostly tourist. But you can go boating on a small lake, take a ride on a mini-train, have a tasty and inexpensive meal.
The market is open daily from 10:00 to 23:00. It is located 10 kilometers from the city center, and it is best to get to it by rented transport or taxi (market on the map). You can try to take a white minibus (Songteo) from the railway station for 20 baht.
-
Grand Market Night Market
If the night Hia Hin Night Market in the center of Hua Hin is mainly aimed at tourists, then this market, which starts its work right in the parking lot of the Grand Hotel, is more focused on locals. Prices here are lower than in the center, it is more traditional and "natural", and one can say even more diverse. Of course, there are many food stalls and several cafes, and there is also an art zone with street artists and an installation of old bicycles.
This market starts working after 19 hours, but on Monday and Tuesday there is a day off. From the center it is only a 10-minute walk along the main road Thanon Phetkasem to the north. The Songteo Green Route runs here.
