Beach and Bophut area (Bo Phut, Bo Put) is located in the north of Koh Samui in a cozy bay (Bophut beach on the map of Koh Samui). The length of the beach is 3 kilometers. At the same time, the Bophut area continues further inland Koh Samui Islands for about two kilometers, so, in general, this is a fairly large area. Although a beach was formed around a small fishing village, today it is a well-developed area, almost a whole city.
Bophuta Beach is very similar to the neighboring one May Us. It is also moderately clean and sometimes even beautiful. There is coarse sand and a sharply submerged bottom, which is why it is very convenient to swim here, but rest with children is not the safest. The influence of the tides is almost not felt. The water is not very clear.
But at the same time, unlike Mae Nam Beach, which looks more like a village, there is a lot of life here. The area is very developed and noisy, and is second in popularity only to Chaweng and Lamai. The tourist infrastructure is well developed, there are many hotels, including inexpensive ones; restaurants and cafes; travel agencies and motorcycle rental; floating children's playground. There are also bars with girls, there just aren't that many of them and they're not as noisy as in Chaweng. But the highlight of Bophut is that local restaurants are stylized for different eras and cultures, which attracts a large number of serious wealthy tourists from Europe here. On Fridays, traffic is blocked in the marina area and the Walking Street pedestrian street opens, where perhaps the island's best night market operates. But that's not all. If you move through the area a little inland along the ring road, you will get to the largest hypermarkets of the island Big-C, Makro and Lotus's Go Fresh (see details about shops on Koh Samui), the cartodrome and the shooting range.
Get to Boput Beach easily by minibus Songteo from the pier in Nathon for 50 baht (see Thailand's currency and exchange rate). From Koh Samui airport, a taxi to Boput costs from 500 baht, a minivan ride costs 130 baht.
Summing up: the area of Bo Phut is developed and is quite suitable for tourists of any age. Young people in the center will find noisy bars and entertainment in moderation. Those who are older can stay on the outskirts of the beach and relax in silence, if desired, taking walks to the center. Probably the only drawbacks here are the not very clear water in the sea and the sharp depth, which is not very safe for children and those who swim poorly. And also, if you want to find cheaper accommodation, then it's better to go to Chaweng Beach, because there are very few cheap hotels and hostels on Bophut.
