Wat Khlong Thom Temple and Museum in Krabi

Description and is it worth a visit

Tiger Temple in Krabi

Wat Khlong Thom would be an unremarkable temple, like thousands of others in Thailand, if not for the museum of the same name located on its territory. It presents ancient tools and objects discovered during excavations of a settlement in the vicinity of the temple, as well as raised from the bottom of the Khlong Thom Canal in a place where it is believed that there was an ancient trading port on the route of ships between Asia and the other world. These are bronze tools, beads, Roman coins, ceramic products, stone jewelry and other ancient objects, many of which date back to our era.

This is not to say that this museum is definitely worth a visit, except if you drive by.

🕐 Working hours

The temple is open during the daytime, the museum is from 08.30 - 16.30, a break from 12:00 to 13:00. If the museum doors are closed, you need to knock and they will open for you.

💵Entrance fee / ticket price

The temple is free of charge, the entrance to the museum is 100 baht/children are 50 baht (see currency of Thailand, exchange rate to ruble)

🚶 How to get there

The temple and museum are located about 50 kilometers from Krabi-town on the main road Phetkasem (temple on the Krabi map). You can get to it only by rented transport or by bus in the direction of Ko Lanta and Trang. It is convenient to combine a visit to the museum with a visit to Emerald Pond, because the turn towards the pond is less than a kilometer from the museum.
