Ao Nammao Beach (Ao Nam Mao, Ao Nammao) is the area of Ao Nammao Bay 10 kilometers east of Ao Nang (beach on the map of the province). Nammao Ao is located between Krabi Town and Ao Nang, however, from the point of view from the point of view of transport, this is a dead-end place, which is why it is very quiet and touristically poorly developed. There are attractions here: the Shell Cemetery and the Krabi Aquarium.

The entire area stretches for almost 4 kilometers along the shore of the bay and is formed along the main and only road. The atmosphere here is rustic (in fact it is a village), and there is almost nothing of entertainment and tourist infrastructure here. However, along the beach there are hotels with their own territory, there are bungalows with access directly to the water, you can rent a house. The hotel areas are surrounded by greenery, as well as in bungalows you will live as if in a jungle by the sea.

There are almost no shops or transport here. You can eat in one of the few cafes or in the local food court at the market. There are several stalls with food and souvenirs near the shell cemetery, there is a local market near the pier.

The beaches here are of worse quality than average. At low tide, debris, logs and concrete piles appear from under the water, which is why the bottom is dangerous. At high tide, in some places the water comes so close to mangroves and trees that the strip of sand almost disappears. In some places, the coast is just rocky. In general, if you have any complaints about the quality of the beaches, you are unlikely to swim here. But there is a fairly simple way out, even two: you can take a minibus for 20 baht to Ao Nang, or take a boat from Ao Nammao Pier to Railay, where the beaches are just a sight. But this is one of the few places on the coast where at night you can see the miracle of nature – glowing plankton.

Of the attractions here there is only a dubious pleasure Shell Fossil Cemetery and Krabi Aquarium. You can explore the mosque and a modest local Buddhist temple.

In general, if you do not take into account the beach, infrastructure and attractions, the atmosphere here is very quiet and peaceful, and therefore it will be pleasant for someone. But if you have an awl in one place, then here you will just die of boredom, and you will have to travel to neighboring areas all the time. In the evenings there is absolutely nothing to do here, you will have to spend time in your room or again in neighboring areas, for example, at the nearest Ao Nang. The only advantage of this area is the low prices for accommodation.

How to get to Ao Nammao Pier

As mentioned above, the area is a dead end. Only shuttle buses go here from Talad Kao bus station - Krabi Town - Nopparat Tara Beach - Ao Nang - Seashell Cemetery. The cost from Ao Nang and back for 20 baht (see currency of Thailand, exchange rate), from the bus station - 80 baht. They are sent by filling, it's about every 20-30 minutes. From Krabi Town, Talad Kao Bus Station and Krabi Airport, you can only get there with a transfer in Ao Nang.

There is a marina in the area Ao Nammao Pier (marina on the map). From here, boats are sent by occupancy to the east Railey East beach for 60 baht, but departure has to wait a long time. You can also hire a boat to 4 islands (Poda, Chicken, Tab, Raili) for 2000 baht per boat for up to 8 people; Hong Island for 3600 baht per boat (up to 6 people); Bamboo Island for 3800 baht per boat (up to 5 people).

It is best to have your own transport here to get out to neighboring areas. Unfortunately, we did not find any working motorcycle rentals here, and for renting you need to negotiate with local residents or rent a motorcycle in neighboring areas.
