General information about attractions and entertainment
Greater Sochi is a huge city in which you can count more than a dozen attractions and tourist attractions. But if we talk directly about the Central District of Sochi, in which tourists like to stay on vacation, then there are not very many really worthwhile attractions and tourist attractions here. So, in the center you can visit several unpretentious museums, walk along the arboretum and historical Boulevard, see several conventional architectural and historical places, and that's all.
With Entertainment here, too, is not as good as it is usually considered: there is only a park with attractions "Riviera" and a dolphinarium. Even the Mayak water park, which worked for many years, is now (in 2021) closed, and it seems that forever. But the top attractions and entertainment of Sochi, such as, for example, the Olympic Park and singing fountains, Vorontsov caves, amusement park Sochi Park, water parks, aquarium, etc., are located quite far from the center in other areas.
Fortunately, during your vacation, your choice will not be limited only to Entertainment and attractions directly in the area of the center. Independently or with excursions for one day you can visit interesting places in other resorts of Greater Sochi. The easiest way to do this is with guided tours, which are purchased from distributors on the streets, from hotel guides, or online on these verified review sites.:
- 📷 search for excursions in Sochi on Sputnik8.com
- 📷 excursions to Sochi from the tour operator TEZ Tour
- 📷 search for excursions in Sochi on Tripster.ru

Seasons and when to visit
It seems that there is no difference when it is better to visit the sights and entertainment in Sochi, but not everything is so clear.
- For the summer months it's the height of the tourist season, and that's good. That at this time a huge number of inexpensive excursions are offered. Yes, and the trips and walks to interesting places are much more comfortable in the warm season. However, the bad thing is that all the entertainment and attractions are crowded with tourists, and sometimes it is simply impossible to take a normal photo without "guests" in the frame, or even have to wait in line at the entrance. In addition, the bad thing is that in the summer (especially in July and August) most of the waterfalls and mountain rivers dry up.
- Spring and autumn - this is a great time for easy day trips to natural attractions in Sochi, as in the spring the waterfalls are filled with water, and in the fall Nature reveals golden colors in all its glory. And at this time there are not very many tourists.
- Winter – this is not the time for a beach holiday, but those who want to change the situation or go skiing in the resorts of Krasnaya Polyana still go to Sochi. If you are from this number, then in some ways you are even lucky: you can visit many natural attractions of the Sochi National Park for free, since there is rarely control at the entrance ticket offices at this time. Unfortunately, the waterfalls in all their glory in winter will also not be seen, and high-altitude hiking trails will also be closed.
How to visit, transport
The easiest way to get acquainted with the sights and entertainment in Sochi is ready – made group or individual excursions, because when you buy them you will not have any difficulties in getting to the right place, because the tour includes a transfer. You can buy them from distributors on the streets, in hotels and from hotel guides. But the most advanced and modern way is the selection and booking of tours online on sites with reviews:
- 📷 search for excursions in Sochi on Sputnik8.com
- 📷 excursions to Sochi from the tour operator TEZ Tour
- 📷 search for excursions in Sochi on Tripster.ru
If you still want to visit a place yourself, then you can choose from local buses or trains, rented or private transport. We recommend using public transport or rental, and it is better to refuse a personal car. The fact is that you will have to stand in long traffic jams, move along unusually complex serpentines, look for parking places or pay for paid parking. See more, how to travel around Sochi for tourists here.
Useful tips for visiting
- If you want to visit some hiking trails Sochi National Park for free, it is better to go here not in high season, but from autumn to spring, when there is often no control at the ticket offices at the entrance.
- To pay for the entrance, not everyone accepts bank cards, so always keep a supply of cash with you.
- The fastest way to get to most places in Sochi is by train.
- When buying excursions from distributors, you can and should bargain, especially if you purchase an excursion for a large company or several tours at once.
- Often, you can buy tickets to water parks and dolphinariums cheaper from distributors of excursions on the street than at the official box office.
What to visit
During a holiday in Central Sochi, it is not necessary to limit yourself only to those attractions that are located directly in the center, because the most interesting places are located outside this area on the territory of Greater Sochi. Here are the top attractions and activities that we recommend to visit first:
