General information about the resort

Krasnaya Polyana - a large village in the resort city of Sochi, a popular ski and Mountain Resort, and a favorite place for vacationers on the beaches to visit in the form of a day trip. The village of esto-Sadok also belongs to the village.

Historically, all mountain and ski resorts located above the center of the village and related to it are called "Krasnaya Polyana". Krasnaya Polyana, in addition to the very center of the village, includes as many as three resorts or mountain tourist complexes (SCC), which are generally called Krasnaya Polyana. The historical and actual center of Krasnaya Polyana village and its residential area is slightly lower and away from the resorts (center of the village on the map). Infrastructurally, all these places are united by public transport of Greater Sochi in the form of city buses and electric trains, otherwise they are independent resorts with their own lifts (except for the village center), hotels, entertainment and attractions. There are no clear borders between them, and one resort smoothly passes into another, but the distances between the Centers are not so small – about three kilometers. • Winter holidays

  In winter, this is, of course, the most modern and developing ski resort in Russia, and at the same time the most expensive. The season starts in mid-December and lasts until April-May depending on the weather during the winter.

  There are from 6 to 40 lifts, depending on the method of counting, and at least 30 trails of different complexity and for different sports. And their number is constantly increasing, the resort is growing. It is worth noting that all the routes and cable cars are located exclusively in the above three resorts, and in the village there is not one, there are only hotels and other tourist infrastructure.

  For skiing or snowboarding, you can choose one of the three resorts with its set of trails and lifts, and purchase a SkyPass pass. If you do not want to choose one thing, then from December 2020 there was a single pass for all routes and resorts. For skiing for a couple of days, it will be useless, and the prices are inflated compared to individual SkyPass, since in a short time you simply will not have time to take full advantage of it.

  In addition to skiing or snowboarding in winter, the resorts offer a lot of entertainment, including for children: snowmobiling, sledding, reindeer; Husky Park; tubing; ice hotel; ice sculpture park; year-round water park, etc.

  

• Summer holidays

  In summer, Krasnaya Polyana becomes an excursion place and a mountain resort. Infrastructure in Krasnaya Polyana

Krasnaya Polyana is one of the youngest and developing resorts in Russia, respectively, everything that vacationers and tourists can need is here. You can easily buy excursions to Sochi attractions and to Abkhazia; offered for rent Motor Transport and bicycles, electric scooters, etc.; there are ready-made tourist transfers to the airport, the center of Sochi, to the railway station or just between ski resorts. Just keep in mind that during the ski season Sporting Goods are quickly disassembled, so it is better to order in advance via the Internet and get in the store. You can also rent or purchase used equipment at rental points.

Small purchases and products can be purchased at small local stores or at chain supermarkets. There are "Pyaterochka", "Crossroads", "magnet", and prices in them are traditionally lower than in the markets and in local stores. In general, the main urban infrastructure and shops are mostly located in the center of the village, and prices there are also lower.

You can pay for purchases in large stores and supermarkets with bank cards, but for excursions, equipment rentals and tourist transport in most sulchays you can only pay in cash and sometimes accept the transfer of "SBER" online. In the village and in the resorts there are ATMs and bank branches, including currency exchange. However, we advise you to take care of cash in advance, because during the peak season, banknotes in ATMs quickly run out, and at the last moment you may find yourself without cash.

Hotels and accommodation in Krasnaya Polyana, where to stay

Krasnaya Polyana resorts are an expensive place to stay, especially in winter. Accommodation for the ski season from December to April is best booked in advance before the start of the season, especially if it concerns hotels with stars rating. To save money, you can choose accommodation not directly at the ski resorts, but in the center of the village, but then you have to get to the lifts every day by taxi or local transport. Even cheaper is find accommodation in Adler or the village of Sirius on the coast, however, in this case, the road will have to spend as much as 2-3 hours.

In the low season from May to November, the demand for accommodation decreases, followed by prices. In the middle of summer, you can get great prices for accommodation in expensive star hotels, sometimes they make discounts up to 50%. Krasnaya Polyana is a year-round mountain resort, but what time of year to go depends on the purpose of your holiday. In winter, people come here to ski and snowboard, and in summer for hiking in the mountains and to attractions. Spring and autumn are suitable for all types of holidays, but it all depends on the specific months of the trip and the developing weather in the season, which can present unpleasant surprises during these periods.

  You can come here just to relax among the mountains at any time of the year. Most one-day hiking trails are available in May and are valid until October, but for multi-day hikes and climbing, spring and autumn are still relatively extreme times, you need experience and appropriate equipment.

  Even if you go here on vacation in the summer, it does not hurt to bring a jacket or hoodie. The temperature drops in the evenings, and it will be especially cool during walks along the embankment near the mountain river Mzym.

How to get to Krasnaya Polyana

Krasnaya Polyana and all its resorts are located in the mountainous part of the city of Sochi and are 45 kilometers from the coast, 78 kilometers from the center of Sochi (Krasnaya Polyana on the map). Unfortunately, there is no way to get here directly from other regions and distant cities except by private transport, so you will have to go with a transfer to Sochi. You can do this by plane through the nearest Sochi airport, by train through the railway stations of Krasnodar, Sochi, Adler, etc. Already directly to the place of rest in Krasnaya Polyana from the airport or from the railway stations it will be possible to get by trains, city buses or taxis.

The fastest way to get from other regions of the Russian Federation is by plane through Sochi airport. Theoretically, you can fly to the airport of Krasnodar, and from there get on the high-speed train "Lastochka", but this option is not very suitable because of the duration and the need to adjust to train schedules, so it's better to immediately look for tickets to Sochi airport.

From the airport to the center of the resort 40 kilometers, which can be done by taxi (from 1400 USD), city buses (from 160 USD), rent a car (1300 rubles/day or 5 rubles/minute for carsharing). There is still a direct electric train, but it is sent only once a day and goes for a long time through the railway station of Adler.

In Krasnaya Polyana there are two modern railway stations "esto-Sadok" and "Rosa Khutor" (final), but long-distance trains do not go to them, which means there is no way to get here directly by train from other regions. You must first take the train to Adler station or in extreme cases to Krasnodar, and from there transfer to the train, bus or taxi directly to the resort.

By car, you can get here only through Sochi on a complex serpentine road along the coast. From Adler to Krasnaya Polyana there are two roads: old and New. Both are in excellent condition, but the new one is more direct and does not pass through populated areas. To enter the mountains in winter, the car must be equipped with all-season or studded tires. Sometimes the traffic police arrange temporary posts at the entrance to the village on the new road and deploy drivers with unsuitable tires. If this happens to you, you can try to drive along the Old Road or just wait for the post to be removed and drive. But still, for safety reasons, in winter it is better to go on winter tires.

Transport in Krasnaya Polyana and how to move

You can move around the village and between the resorts on foot, by taxi, city buses and special free buses or so-called "Ski basses".

For walking, the whole area of Krasnaya Polyana is not very suitable, since the center of the village, the Centers of ski resorts, cable cars and attractions are far from each other. In addition, it is objective to say that these resorts were not originally designed to move between them on foot: the distances are long, there are few sidewalks and footpaths, and sometimes it is simply impossible to cross the road without violating the rules of traffic rules by pedestrians. But within one resort it is very comfortable to move on foot, and all conditions are created for this. Here are some distances between the Centers for reference:

• The center of the village–the resort "Krasnaya Polyana" - 5.7 kilometers or about an hour and a half on foot.
• Resort Krasnaya Polyana-Gazprom-1.8 kilometers or about 30 minutes on foot.
• Resort "Krasnaya Polyana" - "Rosa Khutor" - 3.2 kilometers or about 50 minutes on foot.
• Resort "Rosa Khutor" - "Gazprom" - 2.6 kilometers or about 45 minutes on foot.

Taxi here is significantly more expensive than in the center of Sochi and on the coast. Even the shortest trip within the district will cost at least 100 rubles, and to get from the center of the village to the nearest lift, you will have to pay from 300 rubles. But in any case, it is Cheaper Than traveling by private car and paying for paid parking, so we advise you to use a taxi. The most economical way to move – city buses. Payment is made at the entrance to the driver in cash or by bank card, the fare costs from 28 rubles and depends on the distance. Multiple routes work:

• №163. A domestic flight that passes through the village center and all the resorts. It can take you almost anywhere within Krasnaya Polyana and its resorts. Walks every 15-20 minutes.
• No. 535 and 535E (Sirius-Rosa Khutor), and No. 65 (Adler-Rosa Khutor). They pass through the center of the village and all its resorts, so they can be used for domestic trips, although they rarely go.
• No. 105, 105C and 105E (Sochi-Rosa Khutor). These buses are not very suitable for internal movement, because they go on a new road, and do not call in the center of the village.

In addition to regular city buses, free shuttle basses or ski basses are launched seasonally. Krasnaya Polyana and its surroundings are known for their natural attractions, including picturesque views of the mountains, waterfalls, mountain rivers, rich flora and fauna.
