Imereti resort (Imeretinka) or Sirius located in the very south of Krasnodar Krai near By Adler (Sirius on the map). This is the southernmost Black Sea resort of Russia, immediately behind it begins Abkhazia. Previously, the title of the southernmost resort belonged to the village of Veseloe, but now its coastal territory is occupied by Sirius.

Until 2020, Imeretinka and the Sirius Educational Center were part of Adler and Sochi, and it is still in this capacity that it is found in guidebooks. Now administratively it is an independent urban-type settlement Sirius and federal science city, forming an independent urban district. The new settlement occupies the entire coastal territory south of the Mzymta River to the border of Abkhazia. It is in Sirius, and not in Adler and Sochi, that the Olympic Park, the park of Southern cultures, the entertainment Sochi Park and some other attractions are now located.

So, Imereti resort or Sirius is a young beach resort with a well-developed infrastructure, wide streets, new hotels and sanatoriums, a well-equipped promenade and long beaches. Inside Sirius, you can conditionally allocate microdistricts that are quite different in infrastructure and conditions for recreation, but more about them below in the section "where to choose a hotel". It is quite possible to go here for the entire period of your vacation, or go to Sirius during the day from the resorts of Sochi to visit several significant attractions and entertainment.

• Urban infrastructure is still poorly developed, there are few shops and shopping centers.
• In the area of the Olympic Village there is a port, the coast is not suitable for swimming.
• No sandy beaches.
• High prices for amenities on the beaches.

Beaches in Imereti and Sirius

Along the entire coastline of Imereti stretches the embankment, only slightly retreating from the shore in the port area. Its total length is more than 6 kilometers, and throughout this length it is very well equipped for walks and trips on bicycles and electric scooters. But not all the coast along the embankment is suitable for swimming. Part of the shore is occupied by the Port, part is unsuitable for safe swimming due to huge stone boulders to strengthen the shore. On ourinteractive map of Sirius we marked in red the parts of the shore unsuitable for swimming.

All beaches in Imereti (Sirius) are free. Access is not restricted anywhere. On the shore of pebbles, there is gray and black sand. The entrance to the water is not very convenient: sharp and on stones and pebbles. Therefore, for swimming here we highly recommend using special shoes for swimming (corals, they are also aquashuzes). There are quite high prices for renting sun loungers and umbrellas. If you want to save on renting sun loungers, you can use a portable umbrella from the sun and litter. As a litter, we recommend using a tourist mat or a special Hard litter, otherwise it will be inconvenient to lie on the stones.

And here are the beaches that are suitable for relaxing and swimming in Sirius:

• Imereti Beach

  This is the main beach of the resort. It stretches continuously for 5 kilometers starting from Olympic Park, and reaches almost to the border with Abkhazia (Imereti Beach on the map). The beach directly opposite the Olympic Park for swimming is not suitable because of the huge stones, suitable only for sunbathing on concrete fortifications. In general, there is a division of Imereti into separate sections of beaches with their own names and belonging to hotels, but this does not play any role, since the entire coast is freely accessible.

  Imereti Beach is pebbly, mixed with gray and black sand. There are plenty of places for vacationers here, it is never crowded. True, in hotel areas it can be crowded, but you can always move a hundred meters to the side. There are sun beds (from 300 rubles / day) and umbrellas (from 200 rubles/day) for rent, changing rooms (free of charge), storage rooms (100 rubles/day). At the height of the season there are water activities, rental and training of sapsurfing, tents with massage, sell soft drinks and fast food. Along the entire beach stretches the promenade, where you can eat and drink alcohol in a cafe or restaurant, buy souvenirs, excursions or just take a walk.

• Beach "Lego" or "Sochifornia"

  This is the same beach, just a sign at the entrance designates it as "Sochifornia", and the popular name "Lego" he received because of the colorful concrete blocks of coastal fortifications, really reminiscent of the details of the designer.

  Located near the confluence of the Mzym river with the Black Sea ( "Lego" or "Sochifornia" on the map). At the entrance to the beach there is a paid parking for 150 rubles / hour and 450 rubles/day. There is nowhere to park for free.

  The beach "Lego" is small, only 250 meters, but very wide, so there is enough space on the shore for everyone. But to take a place by the water in the peak season is not easy. On the shore there are pebbles mixed with black sand, which brings the river from the mountains. What's bad, along with the sand, the river brings garbage here, so not everyone likes to swim in the sea. In this case, there is a swimming pool nearby, where for 500 rubles / person to swim all day. This price includes a sun lounger and parasol.

  At the height of the season, umbrellas and sun beds are offered for rent, free changing cabins and showers, toilets, a bar and music are played. But we did not observe water entertainment here, there are only children's trampolines and rental of boards for Sapsurfing (SUP-surf). But planes fly over the heads of vacationers, because Adler airport is very close. One of the peculiar Entertainments here is to walk along the shore towards the port and walk between the concrete columns.

• Beach at the border

  Near the border with Abkhazia, near the mouth of the Psou river, there is a pebble beach with a length of 400 meters (Beach on the map). You can get to it only in a detour, along the coast from Imereti you can not go because of the closed zone. The beach is almost wild, only developing and settling. On the shore there are campsites and car camps.

Infrastructure in Sirius

The infrastructure in the resort is well developed, especially tourist. Excursions are offered everywhere, transport rental, cafes and restaurants are open, there are soup kitchens. But with urban infrastructure there is one feature. The fact is that directly in the village of Sirius, which occupies the central part of Imereti or Imereti lowland, there is almost nothing except the territories of hotels, educational institutions of Sirius and supporting enterprises. There are few shops, chain supermarkets on the fingers to count. The same situation is around the Olympic Park.

Hotels and accommodation where to stay

There are many accommodation options in Imereti resort or Sirius, with most of them being new modern hotels. There are entire hotel complexes with their own territory and infrastructure, such as hotels Sigma Sirius, Park Sochi or Radisson. There is a budget by local standards housing and apartments for rent for a short time.

To choose a place of accommodation, you can conditionally divide the resort into three microdistricts, which are quite different in terms of recreation conditions and infrastructure:

• The central part of the resort. There are large hotel complexes with their own territory, scientific complexes and educational institutions, Sochi-Park amusement park. Urban infrastructure is poorly developed, the distances are long. All tourist life will take place on the territory of hotel complexes or on the embankment and beach.
• Olympic Village. This is the area between the Olympic Park and the Mzym River. There are many accommodation options, including budget options and apartments for rent. But there is no beach here, the coast is occupied by the port. You will have to go to the beach on a small beach "Lego" (the nearest), on Imereti Beach (a couple of kilometers) or cross the pedestrian bridge over the Mzymta River to the beaches of Adler.
• South, the former village of Veseloe. The southernmost part of the resort in the area of Figurnaya and Tavrichesky streets used to belong to the village of Veseloe. This is a well-built neighborhood with hotels and houses with shops, tourist shops, restaurants. What is convenient, here is the terminus of city buses at the Stop "State Farm "Russia".

Weather in Imereti (Sirius), tourist seasons

Traditionally, it is considered that Adler and Imereti resort are suitable for recreation only in summer for beach holidays, and in winter for skiing. But in recent years, the situation began to change, and the resort began to be visited at any time of the year.

• 🌞 beach season. The beach season runs from May to October. The most comfortable and popular months are July and August, and it is in these months that most vacationers arrive at the resort, prices rise, the beaches overflow. If you come here in May or June, it may still be a little cool for a comfortable swim, but in general it is already warm and you can sunbathe. September and October are the traditional velvet season, when prices fall, the number of tourists is greatly reduced, but the sea is still warm. In general, you can swim and sunbathe here until December, although not everyone dares to go into the cool water.

• 🎿 ski season. The ski season in the mountain resorts of Sochi begins in mid-December and ends in March-April. Although there are no mountain trails directly in Imereti, and snow rarely falls in winter, skiing lovers stop to stay here (it's cheaper than upstairs), and every day they go to the slopes in the mountains.

• 📷 excursion season. You can come to Imeretinka (Sirius) for sightseeing, hiking along the mountain and ecological trails of the Sochi nature reserve or just to change the situation at any time of the year. A particularly good time for this is autumn and spring. This is the off-season period, when you can get very good prices for accommodation and flights, and last-minute tours are sold at a huge discount below cost. At the same time, all attractions and natural beauty are available in full. Or rather, almost in full, since some attractions and amusement parks may be briefly closed for prevention and repair.

  Well, if you want to admire the waterfalls and mountain rivers, then with a high probability you will not see them in the fall, because the rivers dry up. The best time to visit the waterfalls is spring. Also waterfalls can be seen in summer and early spring, but this is lucky with the rains.

How to get to Imertinka (Sirius)

The Imereti Resort and village of Sirius is located south of Sochi after Adler near the border with Abkhazia (Sirius on the map). From the center of Sochi to the village 35 kilometers, from Krasnodar 325 kilometers.

It is easy to get here from anywhere in the Russian Federation, since the main airport of Sochi is nearby, and Adler has a large railway station. If you need to get to Sirius from other places in Greater Sochi, you can use trains (the fastest way), take buses (very slow, but cheap) or taxis, or use rented transport.

• By plane to Sirius

  From the airport to the place of rest in the village you can take a taxi (10-20 minutes, 400 USD), city buses No. 557, 558 and 535 (20-30 minutes, 28 USD). Also at the airport you can rent or get a pre-booked car, or take advantage of per-minute rental (carsharing).

• By train to Sirius

  In Sirius there is a large railway station "Imereti resort" (station on the map), but only rare long-distance trains from Moscow to Sukhum stop there. Basically, it serves trains from the resorts of Sochi, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don.

  A much more convenient railway station is in Adler (station on the map). All trains from Moscow and the regions go to it in the direction of Sochi. Check the schedule and buy tickets better on the official website of Russian Railways or at the city's ticket offices. When buying through the site, it is better to first register in the Russian Railways bonus system in order to save points for the next trip.

  From Adler railway station to Sirius you can take a taxi (20 minutes, 200 USD), city buses (many flights, traveled from 50 USD) or by train to the stations "Olympic Village" or "Imereti resort" (13-15 minutes on the way, 56 rubles.

• By car to Sirius

  The route to Adler and the village of Sirius from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of the Western (European) part of the Russian Federation usually passes along the high-speed Federal Highway M4-Don with partially paid sections. The fare on it will be from 1720 rubles. For all information about toll booths and payment procedures, see on the Rosavtodor website. You can bypass the paid sections of the M4 on free roads, but then you will spend an additional few hours, since you will have to go through settlements with traffic jams.

  The most difficult section of the road will have to be overcome after Krasnodar. In order to drive these 325 kilometers, at the height of the tourist season, it can take up to 8 hours due to constant traffic jams. The situation is particularly difficult on the section from Dzhubga to Tuapse and further to the center of Sochi, so if possible, plan to travel this Section at night or early in the morning. If at the entrance to Krasnodar on the navigator you see that the road Dzhubga-Tuapse is in a dead traffic jam, then this section can be bypassed through the Shahumyansky pass. This road is 75 kilometers longer, and through the pass you have to drive 7 kilometers on a terribly dusty and uncomfortable Macadam road.

  And now as for parking and moving around the resort in a private car. Although the roads in Sirius are new and wide, there are almost no free parking, everywhere there are signs prohibiting parking and even stopping. Even hotels offer only paid parking, but for their guests at a discount:

  • Regular paid parking-500 rubles/day.
  • For hotel guests-300 rubles/day.
  • Hourly parking – 50 rubles / hour.

  If you do not plan to actively move by car, then you can use inexpensive paid parking away from hotels at the intersection of Parashnaya Street and Morskoy Boulevard, 100 rubles/day.

  Free parking is sparse and usually filled in season. But you can try, they are:

  • On Tavricheska Street near the entrance to the Ornithological park of the Imereti lowland.
  • Intersection of Triumfalnaya Street and Marine Boulevard.
  • Intersection of Golubaya Street and Morskoy Boulevard.

  If you decide to park the car in Sirius in the wrong place, you may well get a fine from photofixation or find it in the parking lot.

Transport in Sirius, what to move

The village of Sirius, although no longer part of Adler and Sochi, is still served by the city's transport system of buses and trains. You can travel by bus both inside the resort and take them to any place in Greater Sochi and to resorts of Krasnaya Polyana. The cost of travel in buses from 28 rubles, depends on the distance and is charged by zone. Payment is made at the entrance to the salon to the driver in cash or by bank card.

Trains from Sirius depart from two stations: "Olympic Village" and "Imereti resort". With all its advantages, and this is the fastest way to move between the resorts of Greater Sochi, it is not very convenient to use them for trips inside and out of the village. The fact is that the stations are located quite far from tourist places and the location of hotels. In addition, electric trains at these stations are quite rare.

There are plenty of options for renting transport here. All the streets are filled with bicycles and scooters for per-minute rental, daily and hourly bicycle rental is widely represented, there is per-minute car rental (carsharing) BelkaCar.

For trips to distant attractions, you can use a taxi at a negotiated price, since this is often cheaper than ordering through applications. So, in the resort there are traditional places where drivers of cars making flights to Krasnaya Polyana, the center of Sochi and other resorts are "on duty". They collect several passengers, thereby making the cost of the trip lower. For example, you can go to Krasnaya Polyana for 250 rubles/person, and to the center of Sochi for 200 rubles. Attractions and entertainment, what to see

The Imereti Resort and the village of Sirius can hardly be called the most interesting place in Greater Sochi in terms of attractions. However, the largest and most famous attraction is located here. This is the Olympic Park, where every guest of Sochi should take a walk and look at the objects of the 2014 Olympics. In the center of the Olympic Park there are beautiful singing fountains, where every evening there is a light and music show. And in Imereti is the Russian "Disneyland" -entertainment "Sochi Park", which is definitely worth a visit on vacation with children. But it is not necessary during the rest to be limited only to the sights in the resort, because there is a big Sochi nearby. And now for entertainment. As we have already mentioned, in Sirius there is a large amusement park "Sochi-Park", which is suitable for visiting on vacation with children. With small children, you can go to a smaller amusement park, visit the aquarium, Dolphinarium or water park in Adler. There is also a rope Park, dino park, beach entertainment, trampolines, slides, etc.

But for adults and young people, the choice of entertainment is more modest. There are few nightclubs and noisy bars here, because Sirius is still a "science city" with educational institutions. On the embankment there are cafes and restaurants, live music, but it is worth moving away from the shore, as all the fun comes to naught. You can move on foot or by transport to the other bank of the Mzymta River in Adler to visit the Mandarin nightclub, Vovsetyazhki, FourSide cocktail bar, karoke bar.
