Adler - the famous resort and the southernmost microdistrict of the resort city of Sochi, is located 30 kilometers from the city center (Adler on the map. In some guidebooks you can find references to the "city of Adler", but this is a completely incorrect characteristic. In fact, Adler is not a city, but only a district and part of the city of Sochi, and in no other way.

So, Adler is one of the most popular and developed beach resorts in Sochi. In our opinion (the authors of the site) this is generally the most convenient and most "Party" place to stay in Sochi, perhaps even better than the center.

The main advantage of Adler is its convenient location. It is easy to get here, because here is the main international airport of Sochi and a modern railway station. But what is even better, during the rest from Adler during the day on local transport it is easy to visit the city center, the village of Sirius, go to the mountains on resorts of Krasnaya Polyana, see many attractions in the vicinity, and even go on excursions to Abkhazia. By the way, for this reason, you can stay here in winter for a ski holiday, because the prices for accommodation here are much more affordable than upstairs in Krasnaya Polyana, and you can get to the slopes and lifts daily by high-speed trains, taxis or buses.

• There are frequent traffic jams on the main roads, which is why there is increased air pollution and a feeling of excessive fussiness.

Beaches in Adler

The main thing for which they go to Adler is, of course, a beach holiday. There are many beaches here, their length is more than 8 kilometers. But objectively they can not be called the cleanest and most attractive on the coast of Sochi. The fact is that the mountain river Mzym, which flows into the sea, brings with it silt and sand, which makes the water muddy. Well, the old concrete breakwaters that break the beach into short sections of 50-60 meters do not add beauty at all, and the rebar sticking out of the concrete and huge concrete blocks under the water along the shore also spoil the view. By the way, rebar and concrete under water are also dangerous: there were cases when vacationers were seriously injured because of them.

Therefore, if you are looking for a perfectly clean and well-groomed beach, it may be worth looking towards other resorts. For example, in the new resort village of Sirius south of Adler, the coast is without breakwaters, and the water is noticeably clearer. Or maybe a much calmer one will suit you Khosta. If you do not have a "fad" about the purity of the water and the beauty of the coastline, then Adler is quite suitable as the main place of rest.

Adler beaches are well equipped, especially the central "Ogonek" and "Chaika". Along the coast stretches a pedestrian promenade, equipped with shops and decorated with palm trees and sculptures. There are cafes and restaurants, fast food and draft drinks, excursions are sold, there are trays with souvenirs and goods for recreation. On the shore there is a full set of infrastructure: changing cabins, showers, toilets, sun beds and umbrellas, massage, etc. In separate technical areas, water Entertainments and rentals are organized. • Chaika Municipal Beach

  This is the main municipal beach of Adler and the longest. It stretches for more than one and a half kilometers from the Mzymta River to the sanatorium "southern seaside" (Chaika on the map).Along it passes the most developed and beautiful part of the embankment, but, unfortunately, the coast itself is divided into short sections by breakwaters. Opposite this beach is the most developed part of the resort-the center of Adler. On the shore there are pebbles and gray sand.

• Ogonyok Municipal Beach

  Ogonek is located somewhat away from the central part of the resort in the direction of the railway station Adler (Light on the map). If you stay in the center, then you can walk along the embankment 2 kilometers or take any bus along Lenin Street in the direction of Sochi to the stops "take-off", "cosmos" or "Adler Sanatorium". Ogonek compares favorably with the Central Beach of Chaika by the absence of concrete breakwaters and a large amount of almost yellow sand for a length of more than a kilometer. In addition, there are fewer vacationers here and there are no problems with a free place even in the peak season, it is enough just to go a little towards the railway station. The entrance to the water is more gentle and there are places with a sandy entrance.

• Beaches near the railway station

  A chain of short beaches separated by breakwaters with a total length of almost 2 kilometers stretches along the shore in the Blue Dali microdistrict along Prosveshchenie street from the railway station in both directions (railway station Beach on the map). There are almost no residential areas nearby and very few options for accommodation (hotels), and an insurmountable wide strip of railway tracks and railway maintenance facilities runs along the coast. Access to the beach is possible only along Prosveshchenie street from the railway station, or through the passage under the tracks from Panfilov Street.

• Beaches of the "resort town"

  The resort town is a microdistrict of Adler, mainly formed by sanatoriums and hotels with a territory located behind the railway station (resort town beach on the map). Along the Brega of the resort town stretches 2 kilometers of purely pebble beaches belonging to a particular sanatorium, hotel or cafe. They are called "Wave", "Coral", "News", "Dolphin", "frigate", "Barracuda" and others. But we do not advise you to pay any attention to this division by name, since all of them are available for visiting for free, but differ only in the conditions of Service and the presence on their territory of zones with free sun beds and sun beds for guests of sanatoriums. For vacationers from the outside, the rental fee is standard-250 rubles/day.

• Beaches "south-2" and "Barracuda"

  Contrary to the name, Yuzhny is actually the northernmost beach of Adler, Kudepsta begins right behind it ( "Yuzhny-2" on the map). "Barracuda" is nearby ( "Barracuda" on the map). From the center of the resort to them 8 kilometers.

  These are developed beaches and residential areas for recreation with a sufficient number of hotels and housing. On the shore there are not small pebbles and the usual breakwaters every 50 meters, but sand begins a few meters under water. There is a promenade with traditional cafes, excursions, fast food, etc.but in our subjective opinion (the authors of the site) the situation on these beaches is somewhat chaotic, it is not always possible to relax comfortably.

• Beaches of Sirius or Imereti

  To the south of Adler, beyond the Mzymta River, the territory of the Imereti resort or village of Sirius begins. Here, too, there are several wonderful beaches for recreation, and they stand out favorably for their cleanliness and equipment. Infrastructure in Adler

This is a developed urban-type resort, there is everything for recreation and life. In the center there is a cluster of modern shopping centers and markets, the largest of which are the shopping center City Plaza and Plaza HOME are located with the colorful Adler market, which can be visited as a tourist attraction. Everywhere there are chain stores magnet, Pyaterochka, red&white and, of course, many small local grocery stores and shops. A large cluster of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs is located next to the modern shopping center Mandarin near the embankment and Chaika Beach.

The main recreation area is concentrated along the embankment, and it presents a lot of amenities for vacationers. There is even free Wi-Fi on the waterfront. There are cafes and restaurants, tents and stalls with goods for recreation and souvenirs, excursions are sold. If you need to eat on a budget or with children, there are many canteens, including three BurgerKing, one McDonald's and a couple of KFC, but they are mainly located in areas away from the waterfront.

To move around the resort, you can use taxis, city buses, minute-by-minute rental of bicycles or electric scooters. And there is a system of minute-by-minute car sharing (carsharing), which is very convenient to use for independent trips to attractions or even to get from the airport or railway station to the hotel or back.

Hotels and accommodation in Adler, where to stay

Adler is a big resort even though the village of Sirius separated from it in 2021. Even without Sirius, it stretches along the coast from the Mzymta River to Kudepsta for 8 kilometers. Therefore, the choice of a place to stay on vacation should be treated carefully, otherwise you may find yourself somewhere on the outskirts of the rest and away from the beaches. Here is a brief description of the Adler microdistricts, so that you can decide on the choice of place:

• Adler Center. This is the most developed part of the resort, starting from the Bank of the Myzmta River opposite Chaika Beach (Center on map. You may not be surprised by its central geographical location, but until 2021 it was almost the geographical center of Adler, until the village of Sirius was separated from it. It is worth choosing accommodation here if you want to be" in the center of events", near shopping centers and within walking distance from the main beaches of Chaika and Ogonyok.
• Golubye Daly Microdistrict. This is the area opposite the railway station (Blue distances on the map. The peculiarity of accommodation here is that all accommodation options are separated from the shore by a railway station and a car depot, which makes it difficult to get to the beach. The beaches themselves are almost wild, but the water is clean and there are few vacationers.
• Kurortny Gorodok microdistrict. Located behind the railway station (Resort town on the map). This is practically the second center of the city and a developed place with good beaches and entertainment. A great choice to stay on vacation. Here you can find accommodation in hotels and sanatoriums with a territory, or inexpensive mini-hotels and private housing.

There are many accommodation options in Adler, but in the peak season in summer almost everything is filled. If you need comfortable accommodation at a good price, it is better to plan your vacation in advance and book it a month or two in advance. Weather in Adler and tourist seasons

Adler is considered a beach resort in summer and an inexpensive place to stay in hotels during the ski season in the resorts of Krasnaya Polyana in winter. But in recent years, the situation began to change, and the resort began to be visited at any time of the year.

• 🌞 beach season. The beach season is from May to October. The most comfortable and popular months are July and August, and it is at this time that the maximum number of vacationers arrives here, prices rise, beaches overflow.

  If you want to avoid these inconveniences, you can come here in May and June. But it is worth saying that at this time it may still be a little cool for a comfortable swim in the Sea, although it is possible.

  September and October are also a great time for a beach holiday and the traditional velvet season. Prices at this time are falling, and the number of vacationers is greatly reduced. The water in the sea is still warm, but the weather can present unpleasant surprises in the form of cold weather and rain, here you are lucky. In general, you can swim and sunbathe in Adler until December, although not everyone dares to go into the cool water.

How to get to Adler

Adler is located on the southern outskirts of Greater Sochi, 30 kilometers from the city center (Adler on the map). This is the most convenient area among the Sochi resorts in terms of getting here from other cities and regions of the Russian Federation, as well as from abroad. In general, we can confidently say that Adler is the main transport hub of Sochi, because it is here that the International Airport and a large modern railway station are located. • By train to Adler

  Adler has a large modern railway station (station on the map). It is reached by all trains from Moscow and the regions in the direction of Sochi, so if there are trains from your city to Sochi, then they go to this station.

  The station is located almost in the very center of the resort, so if you are light, you can walk to the accommodation nearby even on foot. If the hotel is located far away, you can take a taxi (from 69 USD) or city buses (28 USD).

• By bus to Adler

  Theoretically, you can get to Adler by bus from Moscow and neighboring regions, but we do not recommend this method. Long bus rides are very tiring, and especially the last two hundred kilometers on the section after Dzhubga along the coast are exhausting. You have to go along the serpentines and stand in traffic for a long time, so not everyone can withstand this trip, especially children and the elderly with a weakened vestibular apparatus.

  If you really need to get by bus, then we would advise you to go not directly to Adler, but to Krasnodar, Goryachy Klyuch or Tuapse, and then transfer to more comfortable and fast trains. For comparison, during the summer season in the afternoon, a bus ride from Tuapse to Adler can go up to 5 hours, to Dzhubga even more. And the train goes a little more than two hours.

  There is no intercity bus station in Adler, there is only a stop "Lavrovaya" on Lenin Street, it is near the railway station (stop on map). Some buses reach the railway station, and some make a stop at the "Lavrov" and continue to the checkpoint "Psou" on the border with Abkhazia.

• By car to Adler

  By car from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of the Western (European) part of the Russian Federation is the fastest and safest way to get along the toll Federal Highway M4-don. The fare on it will be from 1720 rubles. For all information about toll booths and payment procedures, see on the Rosavtodor website. You can bypass the paid sections of the M4 on free roads, but then you will spend an additional few hours, since you will have to go through settlements with traffic jams.

  The most difficult part of the way in 200 kilometers will have to pass after Dzhubga. At the height of the tourist season, it can take up to 8 hours to travel due to constant traffic jams and serpentine roads. The situation is especially difficult on the section from Dzhubga to Tuapse and from Tuapse to the center of Sochi, so if possible, plan to travel here at night or early in the morning. Alternatively, you can go around the Dzhubga-Tuapse section through the Shahumyan pass. This road is 75 kilometers longer, and through the pass you have to drive 7 kilometers on a terribly dusty and uncomfortable Macadam road. If you decide to go through the pass, then the decision on the detour should be made in Krasnodar or, in extreme cases, in Goryachy Klyuch, later on the detour will not turn off.

Transport in Adler, what to use

The resort area of Adler is not very large, and by and large for trips to the beach, shops, cafes and entertainments you can do without transport. Almost along the entire coast stretches the embankment, along which it is convenient to walk from one part of the district to another.

If you need to get to the former part of Adler, now Sirius Village, where the Olympic Park, Sochi Park and others are located attractions and entertainments of the Imereti resort, then you can cross the pedestrian bridge of the Mzymta River, and then along the port and embankment along the pedestrian path. True, the distances here are huge.

Taxis for short-distance trips within the resort are cheapest to order through the Yandex. Taxi, Uber, etc. applications, the cost of the trip starts from 69 rubles. And if you need to get to distant attractions or neighboring resorts, it makes sense to negotiate a price. There are places where drivers are constantly on duty, ready to bring at a good contract price. You can bargain with them and negotiate a trip together with other passengers to make it cheaper. Even local residents use their services. For example, you can go to Krasnaya Polyana for 250 rubles/person, and to the center of Sochi for 200 rubles/person, but you may have to wait until there are fellow travelers for the trip. Cheaper taxi you can ride on buses, travel in them costs from 28 rubles. In Adler, almost all buses go along Lenin Street, and the main stop for transfers and boarding is the Stop "Shopping Center "New Century", this is near the Adler market.

Attractions and entertainments in Adler

Objectively speaking, the list of attractions and entertainments of Adler is quite modest. To be more precise, after disconnecting from it Sirius village (Imereti resort) directly in the resort area of Adler along the coast there are no attractions at all. That's right, we didn't mix anything up. Now the Olympic Park, singing fountains, Park "Southern cultures" and other attractions of Imereti do not belong to Adler.

But all these territorial subtleties have little to do with tourists, and therefore from Adler you can still easily visit all the interesting places of Imereti or go on your own or with excursions to more distant places of Greater Sochi.

First of all, during your vacation in Adler, you can and should visit these places (those that we recommend in the first place are highlighted in bold):

As in any other resort of Sochi (after all, Adler is a district of Sochi), it offers a wide variety of excursions to the sights of Greater Sochi, as well as to Abkhazia. There are informative sightseeing tours to historical attractions, active recreation with visits to natural places and, in the end, simply organized trips to entertainment parks.

Excursions in Adler are sold at every turn. You can safely buy them from distributors on the streets, from hotel guides (if you travel with tour operators) or order online, but still there are some subtleties with the choice. So, some sellers deliberately underestimate the base price, indicating a purely symbolic price of 200 rubles per tour, but in fact, entrance fees, meals, tastings and so on are added to this cost. As a result, the initially designated cost may increase tenfold. Therefore, carefully check the description and check everything with the seller. Near Adler in the village of Sirius is a large entertainment park for children and adults "Sochi Park". With small children, you can go to the Adler Park of culture and Recreation, visit the aquarium, Dolphinarium or water park.

Adler's evening and night life mostly takes place on and near the waterfront. There are cafes and restaurants, live music, late-night bars. The most hangout area in our view is located on the banks of the Myzmta, there are Mandarin nightclub, Vovsetyazhki, FourSide cocktail bar, karoke bar. Often the resort is visited by stars of the Russian stage and music, arranging performances at the stadiums of the Olympic Park.
