What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Yew-boxwood Grove - this is one of the most popular one-day hiking trails in beautiful natural places. Unlike most other tourist routes in Greater Sochi, the Tiso-boxwood Grove is not part of Sochi National Park , and refers to Caucasian nature reserve. Shaposhnikova. Its popularity is due to its convenient location (easily accessible by Transport and with excursions from ), Adler, Sirius, the center of Sochi), beautiful views, as well as a variety of attractions along the route.
A visit to the Yew-boxwood Grove is paid, 300 rubles. After payment, you can go through a small or large circle, but we advise you to go through both at once: first small, and then large, and also capture Canyon "Devil's gate". Along the way you will see a sinkhole, several beams, a cave, a clearing, a spring, a giant Yew, a labyrinth in a stone fault, the ruins of a Byzantine fortress (in fact, only the foundation and a pile of stones). The most beautiful and interesting part of the route, in our opinion, passes on a large circle along the Khosta river through the relict Yew-boxwood forest, decorated by nature with green moss.
- Small circle. It is numbered 16A. The length is about two kilometers, you can walk in about an hour. On the route there is a landslide beam, a stone labyrinth, A Labyrinth beam, a karst funnel, a giant Yew.
- The Great Circle. It is numbered 16B. The length is about 4500 meters, the passage will take 2-4 hours. Here are white rocks, a deep beam, a Beech Glade, ruins of a fortress, a spring, a cave and a walk along the Khosta River.
There is also a section called Route 16B or "into the depths of the centuries", which is actually a continuation of the Great Circle. This is a branch from the far side of the Great Circle into Devil's Gate Canyon. You can go through the canyon and go back to the circle, or you can go through it from the route. At the exit from the route through the canyon there is a cafe and a campsite, and nearby is the bus stop of bus number 127, on which you can go back to Khosta or to the main entrance, if you left your transport there. You can also go to the big circle through the Canyon "Devil's gate", there is also a ticket office.
A walk along any of the routes is available to everyone, including the elderly and children. Hiking skills and equipment are not required here, but you should stock up on time and effort to pass along all three routes. Trekking poles will make the walk a little easier. Be sure to take water on the route and you can take something to eat. For a comfortable and safe walk, wear comfortable walking shoes, beach slippers will not work here. In the Canyon "Devil's gate" there is a very popular place for swimming in the Khosta river, so take an additional swimsuit and shoes for swimming such as aquashusa.
The route is well equipped, there are signs. There is always someone walking on it, so you can clarify the road. Before entering, we advise you to study and photograph the route map at the booth of the visit Center.
