What to see in Adygea: overview and route planning

Sometimes you hear the opinion that there's not much to do in Adygea and you can see the whole republic in a couple of days. That's far from true — there are more than enough attractions and activities here for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, not all attractions are accessible or interesting to visit in winter.

The main place you absolutely must visit is the Caucasus Nature Reserve and the Lago-Naki plateau. Even if you're not an avid hiker ready to camp out for multi-day treks, you can still manage a simple day hike in the reserve. During this hike, you'll enjoy mountain views, streams and waterfalls, alpine meadows, and you can even reach the remnants of a glacier and walk on snow under the scorching summer sun.

Two other bright attractions that no tourist misses in Adygea are the Khadzhokh Gorge and the Rufabgo Waterfalls. It's better to dedicate a separate day to each, but if you really try, you can see both in one day. But don't forget about less famous places, like the Meshoko River gorge. It's no less interesting than Rufabgo and the gorge, and it's still free to visit.

The mountains of Adygea are rich in caves, two of which are specially equipped for mass tourism: the Bolshaya Azishskaya and Nejnaya caves. You don't have to visit both, but it's worth seeing one of them. If equipped caves don't interest you much, using "people's" maps like OpenStreetMap or apps like Organic Maps, you can find many other non-tourist caves on your own.

Another hallmark of Adygea is the historical monuments called dolmens. Once there were thousands of them here, but most have been destroyed. Today, a real dolmen can be seen in the dolmen museum in Kamennomostsky, or in the museum of the Caucasus Nature Reserve in Guzeripl.

If you prefer active recreation, Adygea has plenty of that too. In the tourist villages of Kamennomostsky, Dakhovskaya, and Hamyshki, you can go rafting on the Belaya River (from 1000 USD). You can rent an ATV and ride through the mountains on your own or with a guide. And on the outskirts of Kamennomostsky village, there's the Meshoko Extreme Park with canyoning, zip-lining, and other activities. In the village of Guzeripl, there's an excellent rope park. In winter, the number of activities decreases, but new ones appear: snowmobiling, sledding, skiing.

Best time to visit Adygea's attractions

Adygea is beautiful at any time of year, but each season offers its own conditions for exploring its natural wonders. Here's how accessibility to key spots changes:

  • 🌸 Spring (April–May) — ideal for viewing waterfalls: melting snow and rain make them most powerful. Caves are open, slopes are covered in blooming plants. Most trails in the Caucasus Reserve are already accessible, though there's still snow in the highlands. Fewer tourists and lower accommodation prices than in summer.
  • 🌞 Summer (June–August) — peak season for hiking and trekking. All routes are open: you can climb to glaciers, see alpine meadows, and swim in the pools of waterfalls. Rufabgo Waterfalls, Khadzhokh Gorge, and caves are in full swing. Heat in the foothills is easier to bear than on the coast, but don't forget a raincoat — brief showers are common here. Summer also offers all activities: rafting, extreme parks, the cable car.
  • 🍂 Autumn (September–October) — comfortable temperatures, minimal rainfall, and vibrant forest colors. Great time for photographers and those who prefer solitude — the tourist flow subsides. All major attractions continue to operate, and hikes to the mountains are especially pleasant without summer humidity. Waterfalls may be less full but still impressive.
  • ❄️ Winter (December–March) — some high-altitude routes are closed, but winter activities appear: skiing on Lago-Naki, snowmobiles, sledding. The gorge and waterfalls look magical in icy frames. Caves are open year-round, and you can warm up inside them (temperature around +6°C). Some reserve trails are accessible for prepared tourists. Before traveling, be sure to check the operating hours of checkpoints and road conditions.

Thus, for a classic tour of the main natural attractions, spring, summer, and early autumn are best. A winter trip is also possible, but the focus shifts to skiing and snowy landscapes.

How to get around Adygea

The most convenient way to visit the republic's attractions and activities is by private car, since interesting places are spread out over a large distance, and local public transport is very poorly developed. As an alternative, you can use excursions, but cheap group tours on large buses are not common here; instead, small groups are formed in jeeps or minibuses.

But you need to consider an important point: no matter which mode of transport you use, you need to be prepared for walking, because hiking and attractions that are relatively hard to reach by vehicle are the main feature of the republic. As an alternative to hiking, you can take horseback rides or ATV trips, but they won't get you everywhere. For example, to the summit of Fisht or Oshten, along the Meshoko or Aminovka river gorges, to the Rufabgo waterfalls – only on foot.

💥 If you're not yet ready for independent travel but really want to see the beauty of Adygea, you can buy excursions. Excursions to Adygea are sold at resorts in the Krasnodar region with transfer, within Adygea itself, or you can choose them on these excursion aggregator sites:

If you're visiting Adygea for the first time or are short on time, here are the places you can't miss. All of them are marked on the map above and described in detail in the following sections.

If the top 10 isn't enough and you want to explore absolutely everything the region has to offer — here's a complete guide to each spot, including opening hours, prices, and how to get there on your own or by public transport:

Main attractions of Adygea

Caucasus Nature Reserve

Caucasus Nature Reserve, Adygea
On the trail in the reserve

This is the main attraction of the republic. Almost the entire territory of the reserve in Adygea is a mountainous zone. It can be visited not only by lovers of multi-day hikes but also by ordinary tourists as a day hike, which is best started in the first half of the day, ideally early in the morning, otherwise you won't have time to see much. Even during a day hike, you'll see alpine meadows, mountain streams and waterfalls, reach the glacier and walk on snow even in the summer months, and of course, enjoy the views of the mountains capped with snow. If you love multi-day hikes or are ready to climb one of the peaks (Fisht – 2867 meters, Oshten – 2804 meters, Pshekha-Su – 2743 meters), you can set off on one of the longer tourist routes with a tent and backpack. Some of the routes are circular, others will lead you to the Black Sea in the Krasnodar region. More about the Caucasus Nature Reserve and how to visit it.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7, but most multi-day routes are only accessible from spring to autumn.

💵 Admission / ticket price: tickets (permit) cost 300 rubles per day for adults, 100 rubles for children aged 7 to 14, children under 7 – free. They are purchased at one of the checkpoints (Lagonaki checkpoint, Guzeripl checkpoint, Uzurub checkpoint) with cash, and are valid until midnight of the same day. For multi-day hikes, you need to purchase a permit for several days at once.

🚶 How to get there: entry to the reserve is through one of the checkpoints on the territory of the Republic of Adygea (Lagonaki checkpoint on the map, Uzurub checkpoint on the map), which can only be reached by private car or taxi on paved roads. Near the checkpoint, you can leave your car at a paid parking lot for 200 rubles per day, or simply on the side of the road.

Rufabgo Waterfalls

Rufabgo Waterfalls, Adygea
Rufabgo Waterfalls

A cascade of 16 waterfalls and rapids formed on one of the tributaries of the Belaya River – the Bolshoy Rufabgo stream. A hiking trail about 2 kilometers long has been laid along the gorge for viewing them. Each waterfall has its own name, the tallest being "Devichya Kosa" (Maiden's Braid) at 20 meters. As you walk the trail, you can enjoy views of the forest and rocks, go through a through-cave, and swim in the pools of some waterfalls. At the start of the trail, there's a souvenir shop, gazebos, a cafe, and simple attractions.

The trail is partially equipped, but some sections are difficult and not accessible to everyone, though no special training is required. Comfortable hiking shoes, drinking water in your backpack, and no bags or extra items (you'll need your hands free) are essential. The further you go from the entrance, the more difficult the trail becomes. Depending on the chosen route, visiting the attraction will take from 2 to 6 hours. More about the Rufabgo Waterfalls.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: best visited during the day in summer. The paid passage across the bridge is open from 09:00 to 19:00.

💵 Admission / ticket price: entry to the waterfalls via the bridge is paid: adults 600 rubles; children under 12 – 300 rubles; under 5 – free. Entry via the trail from Kamennomostsky is free.

🚶 How to get there: the entrance to the waterfalls is located two kilometers from Kamennomostsky on the main road towards Guzeripl (waterfall entrance on the map). From the town, you can walk here, take a bus towards Dakhovskaya (runs a few times a day), or by private car. There is parking for private vehicles.

Khadzhokh Gorge

Khadzhokh Gorge, Adygea
Khadzhokh Gorge

The most famous and popular attraction in the republic, so it's always crowded here despite the high price. It's a fenced and equipped section of the Belaya River, about 500 meters long, notable for a very narrow gorge (tesnina) along which the Belaya River flows. In the narrowest places, the gorge narrows to just two meters and has a depth of up to 40 meters, and immediately after, the river unexpectedly widens to more than 50 meters.

A tourist trail equipped with safety railings, viewpoints, and rest areas runs along the top edge of the gorge. This is where tourists spend their time. In some places, you can even go down to the water, but it's dangerous. In any case, when walking through the gorge with children, watch them very carefully, as some places are very dangerous. You can also visit a mini-zoo with a bear named Timofey, exotic birds, and animals. More about Khadzhokh Gorge.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 09:00 – 18:00 (until 19:00 in summer), no days off.

💵 Admission / ticket price: adults – 600 rubles; children under 13 – 300 rubles; children under 7 – free.

🚶 How to get there: Khadzhokh Gorge is located in the village of Kamennomostsky, on its exit towards Guzeripl (Khadzhokh Gorge on the map). From the village center, you can walk here. There is a parking area in front of the entrance for private cars.

Bolshaya Azishskaya Cave

Bolshaya Azishskaya Cave, Adygea
Bolshaya Azishskaya Cave

This is the largest and most popular of the developed caves in the Republic of Adygea. Its explored part has a length of 650 meters, but about 200 meters are equipped for tourists. Inside, there are paths and bridges, and beautiful colored lighting. The ceiling and floor of the cave are filled with bizarre stalactites and stalagmites, and if you've never been to places like this before, it's definitely worth a visit.

The cave is visited only as part of a guided tour, which are formed when you buy tickets at the entrance. Groups are formed frequently; you don't need to book in advance. You can just come during working hours and wait for the next tour, which usually takes no more than half an hour. It's very cool inside the cave, with the temperature staying around +6℃, so dress warmly, and be sure to use the toilet before entering. Jackets are provided for free at the entrance. More about the Bolshaya Azishskaya Cave.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

💵 Admission / ticket price: adults – 500 rubles; children (7-14 years old) – 270 rubles; children under 7 – free.

🚶 How to get there: the cave is located on the road Dakhovskaya-Lagonaki checkpoint (cave on the map) 28 kilometers from the village of Dakhovskaya. You can only get here by private car or taxi; there is free parking.

Nejnaya Cave

Nejnaya Cave, Adygea
Nejnaya Cave

One of the two most popular caves in Adygea equipped for tourist visits. It is significantly smaller and less popular than the Bolshaya Azishskaya Cave, but nevertheless, it's worth a visit. You don't need to visit both caves; in fact, you can just see one of them. Which one to visit is up to you, but this one differs from Azishskaya in that you walk directly on the stone floor, not on equipped bridges. The "inhabited" part of Nejnaya is about 25 meters long and has a maximum depth of 7 meters. It is visited only with a guide (included in the ticket price), and the tour lasts 20-25 minutes. More about Nejnaya Cave.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 09:00 – 18:00, tours start every 20 minutes.

💵 Admission / ticket price: adults – 300 rubles; children (5-12 years old) – 150 rubles; children under 5 – free.

🚶 How to get there: the cave is located on the grounds of the "Nejnaya" tourist base on the road Dakhovskaya-Lagonaki checkpoint (cave on the map) 25 kilometers from the village of Dakhovskaya. You can only get here by private car or taxi; there is free parking.

Dolmen and museum in Kamennomostsky

Dolmen and museum in Kamennomostsky, Adygea
Dolmen and museum in Kamennomostsky

On the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky is one of the most famous and ancient dolmens in Adygea, estimated to be five thousand years old. It has been preserved in its original form and, unlike many other dolmens in the republic that were dismantled for building materials or simply removed during land clearing, it has remained almost untouched by humans. Nearby are the remains of several other dolmens.

Next to the dolmen is also a small private museum dedicated to dolmens in general and this particular dolmen. In it, you'll learn how and why dolmens were built. We recommend visiting the museum before you view the dolmen itself. More about the museum and dolmen.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: during the day, exact opening hours are not set.

💵 Admission / ticket price: 200 rubles, including a guided tour.

🚶 How to get there: the museum is located on the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky, right next to the main road leading into the village from Maykop (Dolmen and museum on the map). From the center of Kamennomostsky, you can walk, but it's better to use a private car or taxi. The dolmen is a bit further, a 5-minute walk along a trail from the museum.

St. Michael's Athos Monastery

St. Michael's Athos Monastery, Adygea
St. Michael's Athos Monastery

This monastery was built in the 19th century on the initiative of a monk who visited Mount Athos in Greece. During Soviet times, it was closed, and only in 2001 were the lands and remaining buildings returned to the church, and the revival and restoration of the lost structures began. In addition to the monastery complex itself, there is a holy spring of Panteleimon the Healer, and a bath. There is also an ancient cave monastery here. More about the monastery.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: for tourists, daily from 08:00 to 17:00, on Sundays and holidays from 08:00 to 20:00. The cave monastery is only opened upon request by the caretakers, but you can view it from outside through the grate.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free, guided tours are given for donations by prior arrangement.

🚶 How to get there: the monastery is located in the village of Pobeda, 15 kilometers from the center of Kamennomostsky (monastery on the map). You can get here by private car or taxi; there is free parking. Excursions can be booked by phone or directly on site at the monastery's tourist center.

Meshoko River and Gorge

Meshoko Gorge, Adygea
Meshoko Gorge

The route along the Meshoko River (also Mishoko) and Meshoko Gorge starts on the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky. This route cannot be called popular, as it remains in the shadow of the most visited attractions in Adygea, the Rufabgo Waterfalls and the Khadzhokh Gorge, but objectively speaking, it is no less interesting and spectacular. What's good is that there are usually few tourists here, the trails are not equipped, and the place is generally not commercialized, except for the Meshoko Extreme Park at the beginning of the route. On the river, you'll see several small waterfalls and water slides, the banks form beautiful rocky cliffs of the gorge, and you'll come across grottoes and shallow caves. You can swim in the pools of the waterfalls, and in one of the caves, you can see the remains of an ancient human settlement. You can walk along the river and gorge on your own; no special training is required, but some trekking experience won't hurt. Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water and something to eat. More about Meshoko Gorge and how to visit it.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7, best visited during the day.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the Meshoko River and Gorge are located on the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky, and there are many trails leading to them (river and gorge on the map).

Aminovka River

Aminovka River Gorge, Adygea
Aminovka River Gorge

This is another tributary of the Belaya River. This place is not for all tourists, but only for those who have already seen everything around and want to see something new. There are at least a dozen waterfalls and water slides on the river, grottoes, and three caves: Dukhan, Saxophone, and Flute. The length of the river and gorge is about 10 kilometers, and to reach the caves and see the most interesting places and beautiful waterfalls, you'll have to walk almost to its sources. So, plan a full day for the entire route, or better yet, plan an overnight stay in a tent at the river's source, where the caves are located. More about the Aminovka Gorge.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7, best visited during the day.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the Aminovka River and Gorge are located on the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky, the trail entrance is on Prirechenskaya Street (river and gorge on the map).

"Meot Fortress" or old kiln chimneys

'Meot Fortress' or old kiln chimneys, Adygea
"Meot Fortress" or old kiln chimneys

On the exit from Kamennomostsky towards Guzeripl, you can see something like an ancient castle. But in fact, it's the "Meot Fortress" or the old lime kiln chimneys of an abandoned factory near the quarries. There's nothing special about this place, but you can stop here for a few minutes. In the parking area, they sell souvenirs and unique handmade wooden items. More about the "Meot Fortress".

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: located near the road on the exit from Kamennomostsky towards Dakhovskaya and Guzeripl (kiln chimneys on the map); from the center you can walk.

Krasnoe Lake

Krasnoe Lake or Khadzhokh Quarry, Adygea
Krasnoe Lake or Khadzhokh Quarry

This is a picturesque man-made reservoir formed at the bottom of an old limestone quarry. It's easy to find – it's located on the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky, on the road to Meshoko Gorge. Theoretically, swimming is prohibited here, as signs prohibit entry and passage. But in reality, people drive (only to the barrier, not to the lake itself) and walk there freely, swim, and have picnics on the shore. For tourists, it's interesting as a place to swim in warm water, as it warms up much better than in mountain streams, and also as a place with beautiful views, especially from the road above. More about Krasnoe Lake.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: located not far from the center of Kamennomostsky on the way to Meshoko Gorge and Extreme Park; you can easily walk here or drive (lake on the map).

Cossack Stone

Cossack Stone, Adygea
Cossack Stone

This place is also called Maiden's Stone, Circassian, or Shaitan's Stone. It's a huge boulder on the road from Kamennomostsky to Dakhovskaya. It's located right on the road, separating traffic flows in opposite directions, so you can't miss it. It's considered one of the largest solid boulders in Europe. There's nothing particularly special or spectacular about it, and you shouldn't drive here specifically for it, but you can stop along the way. Souvenirs are sold at its foot, and if you wish, you can climb to the top. There are several legends about the stone. More about the Cossack Stone.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7, best visited during the day.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the stone is located on the way from Kamennomostsky to Dakhovskaya (Cossack Stone on the map). You can get there by private car, but be careful when parking: part of the parking area is marked with a solid line that cannot be crossed, and traffic police often set up "ambushes" here.

Granite Canyon

Granite Canyon, Adygea
Granite Canyon

Granite Canyon or Granite Gorge (also known as Blokhauz Gorge) can be seen on the way from the village of Dakhovskaya to Hamyshki or Guzeripl. It is quite long, and along several kilometers of the road, there are several viewpoints of the Belaya River, squeezed between steep granite slopes. The depth of the gorge reaches 200 meters. On a section of the river along the canyon, you can go rafting. More about Granite Canyon.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7, best visited during the day.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the canyon is located between the village of Dakhovskaya and the village of Hamyshki along the road (Granite Canyon on the map). You can only get here by private car or taxi. For 4 kilometers along the canyon, there are several viewpoints with parking, a spring, and at the end (closer to Dakhovskaya) there is a turn-off onto a dirt road leading to adits and the "prospector's field".

Nature Museum of the Caucasus Nature Reserve and dolmen

Nature Museum
Nature Museum

The museum's exhibition, presented as stuffed animals, photographs, diagrams, and charts, acquaints visitors in detail with the flora and fauna of the reserve, including rare species listed in the Red Book. Separate halls tell the history of the reserve's creation and the history of the "Kuban Hunt". Overall, visiting the museum is very educational and interesting, and it's worth a visit, especially if you plan to visit the reserve itself.

Also, on the grounds near the museum is the most famous dolmen in the region.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: daily from 09:00 to 17:00.

💵 Admission / ticket price: adults – 300 rubles; children (7-14 years old) – 200 rubles; under 7 – free. Guide services from 600 rubles per group, audio guide – 200 rubles.

Valley of Ammonites

Valley of Ammonites, Adygea
Valley of Ammonites

The Valley of Ammonites stretches along the Belaya River from the village of Kamennomostsky for 15 kilometers to the village of Abadzekhovskaya. All of this is a natural monument protected by the state, where you can see traces of ancient mollusks that lived in the oceans about 100-400 million years ago. But unfortunately, this doesn't mean that by going down to the Belaya River anywhere along the valley, you will immediately see scattered fossils. In fact, they are very difficult to find, as they are hidden under water and unusual spherical stones, and you cannot break the stones. It's much easier to see them in the dolmen museum in Kamennomostsky and in other museums of the republic. More about the Valley of Ammonites.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the best place to view the valley is the road bridge over the Belaya River between Kamennomostsky and the village of Abadzekhovskaya (Valley of Ammonites on the map). It's easiest to get here by car, park on the side of the road, and follow a trail down to the river. You can also take buses that run between Maykop and Kamennomostsky.

"Belovodye" Museum

'Belovodye' Museum, Adygea
"Belovodye" Museum

This private museum operates on the basis of the "Belovodye" tourist hotel complex near Kamennomostsky. It features two exhibitions: ethnographic and paleontological. In the paleontological exhibition, you can see ammonites and nautiluses (the two main types of extinct mollusks found in the Valley of Ammonites), parts of skeletons of cetotherium (whale) and stegocephalians (extinct amphibians), a mammoth tooth, a "Bigfoot" footprint, a skull of unknown origin, and many other artifacts of various origins and purposes found in the republic. The ethnographic section displays household items, clothing, and weapons collected from surrounding villages. More about the museum.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: the museum operates on an irregular schedule, it's better to call ahead at +7 (918) 667 00 06 or +7 (911) 981 18 65.

💵 Admission / ticket price: viewing the complex grounds only – 50 rubles, visiting the museum – 150 rubles.

🚶 How to get there: the museum is located on the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky, at 61 Karl Marx Street ("Belovodye" Museum on the map). You can walk from the center, but it's a 5-kilometer walk.

Yavorovaya Polyana

Yavorovaya Polyana, Adygea
Parking at Yavorovaya Polyana

Yavorovaya Polyana (also Yavorova Polyana) is where the paved road from Guzeripl to the checkpoint at the entrance to the Caucasus Nature Reserve ends. It is located at an altitude of 1680 meters, meaning you will climb 1000 meters up from the village of Guzeripl. Here, you must leave your car, and continue on foot along one of the hiking routes. There is also a viewpoint with a beautiful view of the Caucasus Mountains, a cafe, and a tourist shelter. However, do not consider staying there as a place for rest, as it only has the most basic amenities for sleeping and setting off on a route through the reserve in the morning. For activities, you can ride ATVs, fish for trout in a tiny artificial pond, and in winter, go downhill skiing (there is a lift). More about Yavorovaya Polyana.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: Yavorovaya Polyana is located 18 kilometers from Guzeripl, beyond Partizanskaya Polyana, at an altitude of 1680 meters above sea level (polyana on the map). A winding mountain road with decent asphalt leads here from the village, but there are some sections with damaged pavement, so be careful when driving. You can travel without problems in any car, including low-clearance vehicles.

Partizanskaya Polyana

Partizanskaya Polyana, Adygea
View from Partizanskaya Polyana

This is more of an important landmark than an attraction itself. It is located on the mountain road from Guzeripl to Yavorovaya Polyana and the Uzurub checkpoint at the entrance to the Caucasus Nature Reserve. Here, you'll find a viewpoint with views of the reserve's mountains, a lake with paid trout fishing, a cafe, the tourist bases "Partizanskaya Polyana" and "Panorama". On some maps, this place is marked as the end of the paved road, but in fact, the asphalt continues further up to Yavorovaya Polyana. More about Partizanskaya Polyana.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: 24/7.

💵 Admission / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: Partizanskaya Polyana is located 14 kilometers from Guzeripl, at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level (polyana on the map). A winding mountain road with decent asphalt leads here from the village, but there are some sections with damaged pavement, so be careful when driving. You can travel without problems in any car, including low-clearance vehicles.

Ancient Human Settlement Museum

Ancient Human Museum, Adygea
The entrance to the ancient human museum is now through this cafe

This used to be a small private museum where you could see a recreated ancient human settlement in a cave. Quite a few such settlements have been discovered in the republic's mountains, and here they tried to recreate what a cave of ancient people and their way of life might have looked like. But now, a cafe has been built at the cave entrance, and they charge a considerable fee for entry. Given the high price, the complete lack of information, and the very modest size of the cave, we do not recommend visiting this place.

Practical info

🕐 Hours: this museum operates erratically and is often closed.

💵 Admission / ticket price: 300 rubles or whatever the owner asks.

🚶 How to get there: located a couple of kilometers from the center of Kamennomostsky, near the main road (museum on the map). A winding mountain road with decent asphalt leads here from the village. You can get there from Kamennomostsky without problems in any car or on foot.

Una-Koz Ridge

Una-Koz Ridge in Adygea
Views from Una-Koz

The Una-Koz Ridge is one of the prominent attractions of Adygea and the main focal point in the village of Dakhovskaya. It's important to understand that this is not just one viewpoint, but a large, extended natural massif that contains several interesting places: caves, grottoes, viewpoints, and rock formations. Devil's Finger on Una-Koz

Devil's Finger Rock, Adygea
Devil's Finger Rock in Dakhovskaya

This is one of the iconic and picturesque spots on this resort and in Adygea in general. It's an unusual rock formation on the Una-Koz ridge, serving as an excellent viewpoint with views of the surroundings of Dakhovskaya and the Caucasus Mountain range, which is part of the Caucasus Nature Reserve. The place is very popular with tourists for photos and selfies due to its impressive panoramas. However, despite the attractiveness of this spot, in our opinion, you shouldn't come here specifically for Devil's Finger alone. It's certainly an interesting place, but it makes more sense and is more practical to visit it as part of a broader exploration of the Una-Koz ridge, where other attractions are also concentrated: caves, grottoes, and several viewpoints. That way, it's much more interesting and varied; Devil's Finger itself is a place for a few minutes' stay. More about Devil's Finger.

Ancient bridge in Dakhovskaya

Ancient bridge in Adygea
Ancient bridge in Dakhovskaya

This is a stone arch crossing over the Dakh River, interesting primarily as a historical and architectural object. It was built in 1905, so it's well over a hundred years old. For this region, such a substantial stone structure is unique. The bridge is still in excellent condition, and legend has it that egg whites were added to the mortar for strength, allowing it to stand without any major repairs all these years. The bridge offers quite picturesque views of the village of Dakhovskaya, the surrounding mountains, and the expanses of the Caucasus Reserve. It also looks very photogenic against the backdrop of nature. Moreover, the Dakhovsky Bridge is an important landmark, as the main hiking trail to the Una-Koz ridge starts here. Of course, it's no more dangerous here than in other places, but still, you shouldn't take it too lightly. Most routes are on the Belaya River, which also hosts a stage of the Russian rafting championship.

Hot springs in Adygea

Hot springs

There are several hot springs with healing mineral water in Adygea, as it's a mountainous region. Natural thermal mineral water, saturated with beneficial elements, comes from the depths of the earth from over a kilometer deep. In some springs, this water is only intended for bathing, while in others, you can also drink it, but only under the supervision of specialists.

Of course, you shouldn't expect a miraculous healing effect from visiting the springs just once or twice; rather, think of it as a pleasant addition to your vacation during your trip to Adygea. If you purposefully want to get a therapeutic or cosmetic effect from them, you will need to undergo a full course of procedures, which includes not only hot baths but also massage and other spa treatments. More details, where the hot springs of Adygea are located, their cost, and how to visit them here.

💥 If you're not yet ready for independent travel but really want to see the beauty of Adygea, you can buy excursions. Excursions to Adygea are sold at resorts in the Krasnodar region with transfer, within Adygea itself, or you can choose them on these excursion aggregator sites:
