What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
On the outskirts of the village of Kamennomostsky is one of the most famous and oldest dolmens of Adygea, according to some estimates its age is five thousand years! It is preserved in the original, and unlike many other dolmens in the Republic, which suffered the unenviable fate of dismantling for building materials, or which were simply removed when clearing the land, practically untouched by man. Also nearby are the remains of several more dolmens.
Next to the Dolmen there is also a small private museum dedicated to dolmens in general and this dolmen in particular. Also in it you can see minerals and ammonites found in the Republic, and even several ancient man-made artifacts. Of course, the exhibition in the museum at first glance may not seem very diverse and interesting, but the most important thing is not that. The museum was created on the initiative and maintained by the chairman of the Adyghe regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Ogai I. P., who personally conducts tours of the museum and Dolmen. During this tour you will hear a detailed and interesting story about all the exhibits, you can watch a documentary, and most importantly-learn about how and why the dolmens were built. We recommend visiting the museum before you explore the Dolmen itself.
