How to get to Adygea

Most often, the Republic of Adygea is visited as an independent trip for several days, as well as as part of sightseeing tours from the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory and other regions. But sightseeing tours are quite expensive, and you can not find them everywhere, so an independent visit is much more preferable.

You can get to Adygea yourself by plane through the airport Krasnodar, by train through Maykop or Belorechensk. At the same time, the last part of the route to tourist cities and districts, such as Kamennomostsky, Dakhovskaya, Guzeripl, Hamyshki, ETC., will have to be overcome by bus or taxi, since this part of the Republic is far from transport routes. If finances allow, then it is best to use a taxi or tourist transfer, as the bus service is very poorly developed. The best way to visit Adygea is your own car.

By plane

The Republic of Adygea does not have its own passenger airport, and the nearest one is located in the Krasnodar Territory in the city of Krasnodar (airport on the map).

It operates regular flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi (Adler airport), Surgut, Ufa, Yekaterinburg. Sometimes flights from the regions or from abroad to Krasnodar are more profitable to purchase with a transfer at Moscow airports. How to get from the airport to Adygea

Upon arrival at the airport, you will have to overcome another 160 kilometers to Kamennomostsky, and even further to other tourist places of the Republic. To do this route on public transport is not so easy, and you will have to do several transfers. First you need to get to the city center by taxi or city buses or trolleybuses (No. 7, No. 53 – to the railway station of Krasnodar; No. 15 – to the railway and bus station), and then transfer to an intercity bus to Maikop (departs from 06:00 to 20:00 approximately every hour, 3 hours on the way, cost from 240 USD), or to Kamennomostsky (departs at 06:50, 16:25, more than 4 hours on the way).

If numerous transfers and trips in stuffy transport are not your thing, then it is best to take a taxi or book a tourist transfer from the airport to the Place/Hotel you need. The trip will cost much more than moving by bus, but you will save time. In addition, there is an opportunity to save if you travel in a group.

By train

Unfortunately, the railway station Khadzhokh in the village of Kamennomostsky as a passenger since 2015 no longer functions, even trains do not go. Therefore, by train to the tourist places of Adygea can be reached only with a transfer from train to bus in Maikop, Belorechensk in the Krasnodar Territory, or through Krasnodar. Then you have to get on buses.

It seems that the easiest way to go is to come by train to Maikop and from there transfer to the bus to Kamennomostsky and other places, but only trains from Tuapse go to the railway station of Maikop and three times a day from Adler in the Krasnodar Territory, and no long-distance trains. Therefore, in fact, it is better to get by train from other regions through Belorechensk or even Krasnodar.

  If you arrived at the railway station of Maykop by train from Tuapse or Adler, then you first need to get by taxi or public transport to the suburban bus station at Gogol Street, 47A, where you can already take the bus to Kamennomostsky.

By Bus

Bus is not the best way to get to the resort towns of Adygea, but if your budget is limited, then this is the only option to get there inexpensively. You will have to make a transfer at least in Maikop, and in some cases you will have to go to Maikop from your region/city with transfers. In general, you need to first get to Maikop (if there are no direct buses, then first to Krasnodar, and then to Maikop), and there change to a suburban bus to Kamennomostsky, Dakhovskaya, Khamyshek, Guzeriplya, etc.

Maikop is connected by a developed bus service with many cities and regions of Southern and central Russia. Maikop can be reached by bus from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, Rostov, Stavropol, Yalta, Sochi and even from Sukhum in Abkhazia. As we have already mentioned, it is impossible to get directly to the tourist villages of Adygea (Kamennomostsky, Guzeripl, Dakhovskaya, etc.) by bus from other regions. These settlements can only be reached from Maikop by suburban buses from the suburban bus station in the city center at Gogol Street, 47 (bus station on the map), which can be reached by city bus/trolleybus or taxi from the long-distance bus station and railway station. Most often, buses go to Kamennomostsky, and all flights to Dakhovskaya and Guzeripl also pass through Kamennomostsky, as well as all flights to Guzeripl go through Dakhovskaya.

By car

Given the poor accessibility by public transport of tourist places in Adygea, the ideal option to visit the Republic will be personal vehicles. From Maikop towards Guzeriple through Kamennomostsky, Dakhovskaya and Khamyshki there is only one road ending in Guzeriple. Further Guzeripl can not be driven by car, as it is surrounded by the mountains of the Caucasian Reserve. This is a good road, on which major repairs were carried out in 2018-2019. To all attractions and to the checkpoint in Caucasian reserve also leads to an asphalt road, and although it comes across difficult areas, serpentines and potholes, in general, you can drive any car. Note that the roads here go mostly up, so the consumption of gasoline is large. The last good network gas station Lukoil is in Kamennomostskoye, in Maikop there are also Rosneft and Gazprom.

Parking in overnight areas is almost everywhere free, some guest houses offer to park cars in the courtyards. But even just on the street it is safe to leave the car, thefts are very rare here. Near the most popular tourist attractions there are paid parking (100 USD), and you can leave the car when hiking in the Caucasian reserve for a long time in the parking lots near the checkpoint for 200 rubles per day, or just leave the car on the side of the road in front of the entrance, if you plan to walk.

Also, Adygea is very convenient for road travelers with a lot of organized auto camps and free places where you can camp and set up a tent. Basically, these places are located on the road from Kamennomostsky to Guzeripl. You can find paid camping on the signs on the road, and convenient free places to set up a tent can be found using "folk" maps in applications like OSM or MapsMe.
