What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting

Khadjokh gorge (part of the Big Khadjokh Canyon) along with Rufabgo waterfalls it is one of the most famous and visited tourist attractions of the Republic, so there are always a lot of tourists here despite the inflated cost. The Khadzhokhskaya gorge is a fenced and equipped for tourist visits section of the Belaya River with a length of about 500 meters, notable for a very narrow gorge (gorge), along the bottom of which the Belaya River flows. In the narrowest places, the gorge narrows down to two meters and has a depth of up to 40 meters, and immediately after the river suddenly spreads to a width of more than 50 meters.

Along the gorge along its upper edge there is a tourist trail equipped with safety railings, observation decks and places for recreation, walking along which tourists spend their time in this place. In some places, you can even go down to the water, but it's a little dangerous and even scary. In any case, when walking through the gorge with children, keep an eye on them very carefully, as there are places very dangerous. One of the special places in the gorge is Amin's court or Amin's platform and Amin's throne. It is believed that during the Caucasian War, Mohamed Amin (military commander, governor of Shamil of Circassia) threw guilty subjects into the abyss from this site. Those who managed to overcome the rapid flow of the river and survive, Amin saved their lives. You can also visit a mini-zoo with Timofey bear, exotic birds and animals.

Whether to visit this place or not is up to you, of course, but our opinion is that you can skip the paid part of the gorge. The fact is that almost everything of the same (except the zoo) can be seen on the free part of the Khadjokh Canyon along the Belaya River, and even go down to the river to the beach and picnic area. You can get to the free part of the canyon from Komsomolskaya Street, at the end of which the road turns into a trail along the river and canyon. Places here are also equipped with safety railings and descents to the water. If you continue on for about two kilometers, you will first get to the Mezmaysky mini-waterfall, and then to the trail with Rufabgo waterfalls.
