Larnaca International Airport (IATA code – LCA) - this is the main airport of the country, and it is through it that it is easiest to get to the resorts of Cyprus. The largest number of direct flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg and regions by season, as well as low-cost flights with transfers in European cities, are operated here.

Prices for direct flights to Larnaca airport in the high season increase at least twice compared to the low season, so it is best to buy tickets in advance, especially for the high season from May to October. Often in the low season, airlines hold sales, the period of flights for which falls, including in the high season.

Airport structure, infrastructure

The airport is not very large, but everything you need on arrival and infrastructure for comfortable waiting for landing is available. The passenger terminal here is one with a departure area on the top floor, and an arrival area on the bottom.

• Arrival

  After disembarking on arrival, almost immediately you get to passport control. Usually there are queues here, and it is better to take one hour of time for the entire post-flight procedure. After passport control, you will immediately enter the baggage claim area, where there is a currency exchange office and two Duty-Free shops. From here, through the red or green customs corridors, you will get to the arrival area on the lower floor.

  In the arrivals area there is a currency exchange, car rental offices, a taxi stand, hotel reservations, and a ticket office for airport buses to resorts and cities. If you need to take a city bus to Larnaca, then go up to the upper level in the departure zone (Departure), and from there go out into the street.

• Departure

  The departure area is on the top floor. Here everything is quite traditional: registration, pre-flight inspection, landing waiting area. Rack Vat Refund is located here, but do not forget to contact it before you pass the security inspection at the entrance to the waiting area, otherwise you will not be able to return later. The waiting area for landing here is very spacious, a lot of soft comfortable chairs, sockets and charging for devices, free Wi-Fi.

Larnaca airport internet

The airport has a free Wi-Fi network, works in almost all areas of the terminal with rare exceptions. Connection does not require entering passport data or authorization via SMS, just agree to the terms of use. When connecting, there is a Russian interface.

Larnaca airport duty-free shops

Duty-free shops are available both in the departure area and on arrival. Upon arrival, after passing through passport control, you will go down to the baggage claim tapes, and there are two shops here. After receiving luggage and leaving this area through customs control, there will be no more shops, so if you want to buy something, then only here. However, please note that everything you buy here will be subject to the general customs rules of Cyprus (see about the customs rules of Cyprus here...).

Currency exchange and ATMs at Larnaca airport

The first exchange office after arrival is located in the baggage claim area after passing through passport control, there are also exchangers already in the arrival area, where you will get after passing through the customs corridor. The course is the same there and there. There are ATMs of various banks in the arrivals area, but please note that there is a commission for withdrawal and conversion (see about the currency of Cyprus and the use of bank cards here...)

Exchange at the airport for the euro currency used in Cyprus can be dollars, rubles, and even rare currencies like the Thai Baht. But the rate is more or less acceptable only for dollars, for other currencies it is very unprofitable. If you need to exchange currency here (for travel, for example), it is better to change at least, and the principal amount is already at the resorts at a more favorable rate.

In the departure hall on the top floor there is also an exchange office where you can exchange euros back into the currency of another country.

How to get from the airport to the resorts of Cyprus and back to the airport

There are three modes of transport to get from the airport to the resorts or back: taxi, bus, transport rental. Depending on the type of your vacation and travel experience, we recommend choosing the appropriate method:

• Rest on the beach in one resort without active movements-taxi or ordering a tourist transfer.
• Rest in one Resort and you have experience of independent travel and the need to save money-bus.
• If you plan to relax at several resorts, get acquainted with the sights – we definitely recommend renting a car.

You can also walk to some hotels in Larnaca with light luggage, but you will have to walk 4 kilometers or almost an hour on the way.

Here is more about each of the methods with separate instructions for destinations (resorts):

• Taxi or tourist transfer

  Taxis in Cyprus are very expensive. You can order a car at the airport counter in the arrivals hall, or through the Bold or nTaxi applications. As our practice shows, ordering at the airport counter at a fixed price is cheaper than traveling to the counter through applications. Here is the estimated cost at a fixed price:

  • Larnaca - 5-10 euros / 5.83 see money in Cyprus and exchange rate.
  • Ayia Napa - 45 euros / 52.48 USD.
  • Limassol - 54 euros / 62.98 rub..
  • Paphos - 100 euros / 117 rub..
  • Polis town - 140 euros / 163 rub..

  Instead of a taxi, you can order a ready-made individual tourist transfer. In this case, the driver will meet you at the airport with a sign by the time the flight arrives. The meeting takes place in the arrivals hall immediately after passing through customs control (not to be confused with passport control). • Rent a car

  Renting a car is the most convenient way not only to get from the airport, but also to move around Cyprus in general. We highly recommend it if you plan to get acquainted with the sights or visit several resorts. And all the more it makes sense to rent a car at Larnaca airport, since it offers the lowest prices throughout the country. For example, in the low season of 2020, we (the authors of the site) rented a car with air conditioning and an automatic transmission here for only 30 euros for 7 days (34.99 USD)!!! Of course, in high season prices are much higher, but in any case, if you basically have a desire to rent a car, it is best to do it here, and return it to the airport at the end of the holiday. Booking a car is cheapest online through one of these sites:

  Just consider this point: the offices of rental offices with the lowest prices are not located at the airport itself, but they simply meet customers here and deliver them free of charge to the office and their parking a few kilometers from the airport. Therefore, carefully read the instructions that will come to you after booking. Usually the meeting takes place at the exit of the departure hall on the top floor, and not on the bottom, where you get immediately after arrival. • Buses

  Shuttle buses run from the airport to all popular resorts, but in some cases you will have to make additional transfers. The ticket counter is located in the arrivals hall on the left after exiting through customs. There are simple city buses to Larnaca, payment for which is made to the driver.

  • Larnaca. City buses cost 1.5 euros to the center of Larnaca. Payment is made in cash in the cabin to the driver. The stop at the airport is at the level of the departure hall, not the arrival hall. They are sent approximately every 20-30 minutes.   • Ayia Napa. There are no direct buses from the airport. You must first take the bus as indicated above to the center of Larnaca, and then transfer to the suburban bus number 711 or intercity bus.

  • Limassol. 16 times a day, according to the schedule, the airport Limassol Airport Express runs, costs 9 euros, and 4 euros for children 3-12 years old, 1 hour on the way.   • To Paphos. 2-4 times a day to the airport of Paphos goes Kapnos Airports Shuttle, the fare is 15 euros for adults and 5 euros for children 3-12 years, 1.5 hours on the way.
