There are many mountain villages, some of which are independent resort places; good asphalt roads are laid, which, among other things, lead to the very top of Olympus; there are hiking trails for trekking and hiking lovers; many natural and man-made attractions; ski lifts are equipped.

The mountainous region of Troodos can be visited as an independent attraction in the form of a day trip or a self-guided trip or an organized excursion from Limassol (most convenient) or from other resorts. Usually one day on such a trip is enough to get an idea of the mountainous part of the country, and see the most interesting and beautiful places.   In summer, people go to the region in order to live in one of the picturesque mountain villages, go trekking or hiking on numerous ecological routes, or just stay in nature. The summer season here conditionally begins in March, when the bulk of the snow descends from the slopes, and it becomes easy to reach the villages by any car. Whenever you go here, take warm clothes with you, because the temperature here is 10 degrees lower than below. Even in the hottest summer months (July and August) here a hoodie and a twist will not hurt at all.

  It is easy to pass ecological routes independently, for this you do not need experience of rock climbing or categorical mountain hikes. To do this, you can use Yandex. • Holidays in Troodos in winter

  On the slopes of Mount Olympus there are several ski slopes and equipped with lifts. The ski season takes place in January and February, sometimes moving to March. The best place to settle for skiing is the town of Troodos, which is located just 4 kilometers from the summit and the ski lifts. There is a basic infrastructure for tourists, and everything you need for a ski holiday. You can also settle in the village of Platres (Pano Platrec) or in other villages or even in Limassol, for example, but in this case you have to get to the lifts every time by Transport.

  The cost of ski passes for lifts in Troodos:

Accommodation in the Troodos region is quite expensive even by the standards of Cyprus. You should be prepared to pay for the night at least 40 euros per person, and 45 for a room for two. Moreover, it is desirable to book in advance.

How to get to Troodos

Theoretically, there is a way to get to the villages in the Troodos region by bus, but for tourists this is practically not an option. They go very rarely, and as far as we know, only from Nicosia.

It is best to visit the region by rented car, or, in extreme cases, with the help of sightseeing tours.

The mountain roads here are not bad, asphalt leads to the very top of Olympus and to all the tourist mountain villages. There are no problems with parking in the villages, everything is free. It is only necessary to take into account the peculiarity of mountain roads in winter. So, from December to February, the roads are covered with snow, there is ice. Near the top of Olympus there are rather steep descents and ascents, which are difficult and dangerous to overcome on an ordinary car without spikes. Snow from the roads usually completely disappears by mid-March.
