Overview of ways to get to Paphos

Paphos is located in the west of the island of Cyprus, it is the westernmost of all the major resort cities of the island (Paphos on the map). Near the city there is the International Airport of Paphos, and it is most convenient to get here through it. The second and main international airport of the country is located in Larnaca. Paphos connects with other cities and districts of the Republic of Cyprus directly and with transfers by bus, but from the territory of Northern Cyprus you can not get here directly, you will have to make a transfer in Nicosia or Ayia Napa.

If getting there yourself is too difficult for you, you can pick up ready-made package tours for holidays in Paphos or any other place in Cyprus. Ready-made tours to Cyprus, as a rule, come out cheaper than self-purchase of tickets and hotel reservations. Try searching on one of these trusted online tour search and booking sites, or use the search form:

And now more about each of the ways to get to Paphos on your own:

By plane

You can get to Paphos by plane from other countries through one of two airports: Paphos International Airport and Larnaca airport. We will not consider the option to get here through the airport in the northern occupied part of the island, since you may have problems with the law in this regard.

Cyprus airport flight
  • Via Paphos airport

Near the city is the International Airport of Paphos (Paphos International Airport, or Hermes Airport, IATA code when buying tickets-PFO, airport website - https://www.hermesairports.com/). It operates flights from many European countries, from the Russian Federation and other CIS countries, but it should be borne in mind that the cheapest options for flights are offered with a transfer, and in this case there may be a problem with entry on a pro-visa issued via the Internet. The fact is that the pro-visa assumes entry by a strictly direct flight, see more information about the Cyprus visa here. Since direct flights to Paphos airport from the Russian Federation are performed less often, it is sometimes profitable and more convenient to fly to Larnaca airport, and from there go to Paphos.

How to get from Paphos airport to the city and beaches

The airport is located on the outskirts of Paphos at a distance of 15 kilometers from the center (Pafos airport on the map). The center and its tourist areas or beaches (see about the areas and beaches of Paphos here) are easily accessible by taxi or city buses, or directly at the airport to rent a car, which is Cheaper Than already in the city.

    • By taxi. Airport taxi operates at fixed rates, a trip to the city center will cost 14 euros (1242 rubles, see Cyprus currency and exchange rate), at night the tariff is higher-16 euros. To the beach area of Coral Bay and Laourou Beach, a taxi will cost 24 euros. About half the price can be reached if you use the taxi order on the meter through the nTaxi application, for which you can use the free airport Wi-Fi. There is also the Bolt application (Taxify), but the tariffs for it are even higher. But the usual Uber does not work here.

A more comfortable option is offered by transfer ordering services. This is the same as a taxi, but the driver will meet you at the airport on arrival with a sign, and will take you to your destination without any questions, as the trip is processed online. Child seats are available upon request. You can order a transfer through the search form from Kiwitaxi:

    • City buses. If a taxi or transfer is too expensive for you, then for 1.5 euros (133 rub, children up to 6 years free of charge) can be reached by city buses:

      • Bus number 612 goes to the tourist area of Kato Paphos to the bus station next to the port. From there, most hotels in the area can be reached on foot, or take a local taxi. Route information and bus schedule #612 is here.
      • Bus number 613 is not so convenient for tourists, because it goes not to the tourist area, but to the city center. Route information and bus schedule #613 is here.
      • Bus number 649 goes through the center of Paphos to the city of Polis. Route information and bus schedule #649 is here.

Payment for travel is made in cash on the bus, you can not pay with a bank card yet.

    • Rent a car. Well, the most convenient way to get from the airport to the city, and travel further is to rent a car. Rental prices at Paphos airport are lower than in the tourist area, but it is best to book in advance via the Internet, on-site prices are again higher. To drive a car, Russian rights are enough, although there are some subtleties, which we described in detail in a separate article about car rental in Cyprus here... We highly recommend that you study it before you rent a car.

If you decide to rent, then the most profitable options can be found on one of these proven sites:

  • Via Larnaca airport

To the main airport of the country Larnaca International Airport there are many more direct flights from Russia, prices are lower:

Then the driver of the car will meet you at the airport after the arrival of your flight, and take you to the desired hotel in Paphos. You can order a transfer through the website kiwitaxi.com or intui.travel.

    • Intercity buses and branded shuttles. It is much cheaper to get there by bus, but in some cases you will have to change trains in Limassol, it depends on the time of your arrival. Tickets for direct buses are sold at a special counter in the airport arrivals hall on the ground floor. If there is no direct flight, you will be prompted there with information about the transfer. There are such options:

      • Kapnos Airports Shuttle. This is an intercity company bus between the two airports. ie, it will take you directly to the airport of Paphos, and from there by taxi or bus, as written above. First, from Larnaca airport you need to take city buses to the Finikoudes stop in Larnaca, and then take an intercity bus to Paphos. We do not recommend doing this way, but if there is no other option, then here is all the information about the schedule - cyprusbybus.com
    • Car rental. Larnaca airport has the cheapest car rental prices in all of Cyprus. Here you can rent a car, drive to Paphos and drive around the country, and return the car before departure.
