The coastline of Larnaca stretches for almost 10 kilometers. In addition, the city is often taken to include neighboring areas and beaches, which ultimately leads to almost 20 kilometers of coast, representing a huge selection of places where you can settle for rest. And it is obvious that depending on your preferences and plans for a holiday, you should choose the right place to stay at the hotel. Otherwise, it is easy to spoil your rest with unjustified expectations.

If we talk in general about the possibilities for tourist accommodation in Larnaca, then there are a lot of options to choose from: there are more than 400 hotels, guest houses and private apartments. Hotel prices, by the standards of Cyprus, are among the lowest on the whole island:

Beaches and areas in Larnaca where to stay

And now let's figure out in which particular area of Larnaca it is better to stop. In total, there are three large areas suitable for tourist accommodation: the tourist center and Finikoudes Beach; the area of Mackenzie and Castella beaches; Larnaca Bay and CTO Beach. All these areas are within walking distance from the beaches, and it is here that we recommend staying. You can also choose a hotel in the city center in residential areas, but for recreation this option is not very suitable, since you will be away from all the tourist infrastructure and beach holidays.

More about each area (beach):

• Downtown and Finikudes Beach

  This area is not the actual city center, but a tourist One, it is located within walking distance to the promenade and Finikoudes Beach (Center and Finikoudes on the map). In our opinion, this is the most convenient place for tourist accommodation. If you settle here, you will find yourself within walking distance to the city's attractions, shops, main bus stops and bus stations, travel agencies and in general to the entire tourist infrastructure of Larnaca.

  The main beach in the center is Finikoudes. It is wide, a little less than half a kilometer long, convenient for swimming and well equipped. There are toilets, changing cabins, umbrellas and sun beds at the standard price for Cyprus of 2.5 euros, and a lot of beach entertainment. But some tourists here do not like the fact that it consists of dark gray sand. If you are one of them, then see the following beaches.

• Mackenzie and Kastella beaches (Mackenzie Beach & Kastella Beach)

  These two beaches are laid out one after the other, forming a continuous sandy strip with a length of more than a kilometer. Mackenzie rests on Larnaca airport, so you can also watch the planes as a bonus. Both beaches are equipped no worse than Finikoudes, and the sand here is also Gray, and even a little greenish.

  The beaches are only a couple of kilometers from the center and Finikoudes, so they will be an excellent option both to come here from the center on foot for a day vacation, and to settle here and vice versa walk to the center (Mackenzie Beach on the map, Castella Beach on the map). You can walk slowly along the embankment.

  The area here is quiet, mainly from residential buildings, many of which are equipped with mini-hotels or apartments for rent. Infrastructure in the depths of the area is almost absent, only along the coast stretches a chain of small shops, cafes and restaurants.

• Larnaca Bay and CTO Beach / Larnaca Bay & CTO Beach.

  Larnaca Bay is almost 25 kilometers of coast, and almost all along it there are beaches. Actually, the center itself and the city beach of Finikoudes are also part of the bay, but only a tiny one.

  Beaches throughout the Bay are different: there are equipped and with hotels on the first line, there are not equipped; there are pebbles, and there are mixed sand-pebble and even concrete. It makes no sense to write about each of the sites, there are too many of them, but if you want to stay in one of the hotels on this coast on the first line, we recommend reading about the conditions on the beach in the reviews and description.

  Separately, it is worth highlighting the beach CTO Beach (Cyprus Tourism Organization Beach). This is a great wide and sandy beach with all amenities and entertainment. Suitable as a place to relax during the day, which can be reached from the center or from any hotel in the bay by bus. Nearby is a British military base. It is located 10 kilometers from the center (( CTO on the map). You can get here by city buses No. 424,425, 445 for 1.5 euros.

  As for the urban and tourist infrastructure on the shores of the bay, it is much simpler here than in the city. In principle, everything you need for a holiday here is, including some entertainment, bars, restaurants, but on a much smaller scale than in the center of Larnaca. If you decide to stay here, we advise you to choose a large hotel with its own territory.

• Beaches of Kiti & Faros (Kiti & Faros Beach)

  These two beaches are located next to each other on Kape Kiti, 15 kilometers from the center (Kiti Beach on the map, Faros Beach on the map). This is actually no longer Larnaca, but the village of Perivolia. There is no way to get here by bus to the center. The only option is to walk to the center of the village Pervolia 2 kilometers, and there take the bus number 417 to the airport, and at the airport transfer to the bus to the center.

  There are several accommodation options, but the atmosphere is rustic, so only lovers of a very relaxing holiday should settle here, when nothing is needed except the beach. Due to frequent winds, there are some of the best conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing, but there is no infrastructure, you will have to come with your equipment.

  Kiti Beach is pebbly, pebbles are very large. There is no infrastructure for recreation. But it is worth walking a few hundred meters beyond the tip of the Cape, as you get to the mixed Pebble-sand beach of Foros, and if you go even further, then on a purely Sandy one. On the shore there are several cafes and restaurants, sun beds and umbrellas for rent. There is no entertainment.
