By plane

Larnaca is home to the country's main international airport Larnaca International Airport – Glafcos Clerides (IATA code when searching for tickets - LCA, see Larnaca airport guide here...). Most of the direct flights and flights with transfers from Russia and other CIS countries are operated to it. How to get from Larnaca airport to the city

Larnaca airport is located on the outskirts of the City 4 kilometers from the waterfront (Larnaca airport on the map). Go only 10-15 minutes, traffic jams are rare. You can get there in these ways:

• On foot. Some hotels and the beach start a couple of kilometers from the airport, and it is quite possible to walk with a light backpack. Almost everywhere along the way along the road there is a sidewalk.

• By taxi. You can order at the counter at the airport, or through the applications of local carriers nTaxi or Bolt. The trip will cost 5-10 euros (from419 rubles, see money in Cyprus and exchange rate) depending on the mileage of the trip.

  You can also book a tourist transfer in advance so that the driver meets you at the airport with a sign and takes you to the right place. You can find and book such a transfer on sites with Russian-language support kiwitaxi.ru or intui.travel.

• By bus. From the airport to the center and suburbs of Larnaca there are several city bus routes. Departure is scheduled approximately every 20-30 minutes. Payment is made in cash in the cabin to the driver, the cost is 1.5 euros (126 USD). The stop at the airport is at the level of the departure hall, i.e. after arriving from the lower floor you need to go up to the floor above, go outside, and on the left you will see marked stop signs. In the city, different flights arrive in different places, but most often tourists are interested in the following stops:

  • Stop Finikoudes Larnaca. This is a stop on the waterfront in the heart of the tourist area of Larnaca (stop Finikoudes on the map. From here, most hotels can be reached on foot.
  • Bus Station Larnaca Station. This is the local bus station (Larnaca bus station on the map), commuter buses depart from here.

  From the airport to Larnaca there are the following flights:

  • №425. This is the most convenient route in most cases, and goes most often (every 30-60 minutes). He makes a stop at Finikudes Larnaca, and then goes along the beaches through the whole of Greater Larnaca. See schedule and route on the map here.

  By and large, if you do not fundamentally need to get to a specific stop, but only to the city center, then you can take any route towards Larnaca. Since the center is small, there you can already get to the right place on foot. But there is no point in changing from a bus to a taxi in the center: there will be no savings compared to a trip from the airport.

• Rent a car. Renting a car is generally the most convenient way to move around Cyprus. And all the more it makes sense to rent a car at Larnaca airport, since it offers the lowest prices throughout the country. For example, in the low season of 2020, we (the authors of the site) rented a car with air conditioning and an automatic transmission here for only 30 euros for 7 days (2512 USD)!!! Of course, in high season prices are much higher, but in any case, if you basically have a desire to rent a car, it is best to do it here, and return it to the airport at the end of the holiday.   Just consider this point: the offices of rental offices with the lowest prices are not located at the airport itself, but they simply meet customers here and deliver them free of charge to the office and their parking a few kilometers from the airport. Therefore, carefully read the instructions on where to look for them, which will come to you after booking. Usually the meeting takes place at the exit of the departure hall on the top floor, and not on the bottom, where you get immediately after arrival. By bus

Larnaca is connected by direct regular bus service with resorts and major cities of the Republic of Cyprus, some towns and villages will have to go with transfers. There is no direct connection with Northern Cyprus, you will have to make transfers in Nicosia or Famagusta.

Buses are intercity, but some cities can be reached by Larnaca city buses. Payment for travel is made in buses in cash, you do not need to buy tickets in advance. In high season there are also tourist bus flights. They are a little more expensive than regular flights, but it is somewhat more convenient to use them, since tickets are sold in travel agencies and offices, and they are sent from the very center of tourist areas.

Main departure and arrival points for buses in Larnaca:

Larnaca city transport, what to move

The tourist center of Larnaca is compact, and you will hardly need transport to move around the city. The main walking area is located along the finikoudes promenade, and all the city's attractions and tourist infrastructure are also within walking distance from it. Transportation may only be needed to travel to suburban attractions, to the suburbs or to the airport, or if you settle on one of the far-flung beaches.

Larnaca has a city bus system. There are not very many routes, and they do not go very often. The fare is 1.5 euros, paid to the conductor. For tourists in the city runs a special tourist bus Love Bus. This is not exactly a means of transportation, but a convenient way to see urban and suburban attractions, and at the same time have fun. Also in Larnaca, rental of bicycles, electric scooters, electric bicycles is common. You can rent them in some hotels and rental offices in different places in the city, it will not be difficult to find them on numerous signs. True, the cost of renting a bicycle is comparable to a car-10 euros per day (837 USD). You can find a little cheaper on ads from private traders.
