Limassol is conveniently located roughly midway between the country's two international airports (not counting North Cyprus airport, of course), and occupies a central position in relation to all the major resorts and cities in Cyprus (Limassol on the map). It is connected to both airports and other resorts by intercity bus service. By the way, in some cases Limassol is even used as a transport hub for transplants along the way between different parts of the country.

By plane
It is equally convenient to get to Limassol by plane through Larnaca and Paphos airports. But Larnaca airport is still preferable due to the fact that it has more direct flights from Russia and other countries, and they are cheaper.
When buying tickets, by the way, keep in mind that if you plan to arrive in the country on a pro-visa issued online, you must arrive strictly by direct flight from the Russian Federation, flights with transfers even in Europe will not work. You can fly home on any flight. Learn more about all visa issues in Cyprus here.

You can get there by:
-
Taxi. A taxi ride will cost 54 euros in the afternoon (4522 rubles, see Cyprus currency and exchange rate), and 63 euros at night. The cost is fixed, you can order a car at the counter in the arrivals hall on the lower floor, where you will get immediately after receiving your luggage. If you want to save money, you can go outside and try to find a taxi on the street in the parking lot, maybe someone can give you a ride cheaper. Well, or try to order a taxi on the counter through the application nTaxi or Bolt (Taxify).
Life Hack How to save money. In the high season, many Russian tourists immediately rent a car at the airport and go on vacation. You can join them as fellow travelers for a nominal fee or completely free of charge. We, for example, always take fellow travelers with us, if such an opportunity presents itself.
-
Tourist transfers. An analogue of a taxi, only more comfortable, with Russian-speaking support and a meeting at the airport. You can order in advance online at kiwitaxi.com or intui.travel and then the driver will meet you at the airport with a sign.
-
Buses. From the airport to Limassol you can take the AirPort Express (costs 9 euros,754 USD), and a little cheaper (for 5.5 euros,461 USD) on simple intercity buses, but for this you have to make a "detour" with a transfer in Larnaca. And keep in mind that buses from these options arrive in different places in the city, and a simple intercity bus for tourists is more convenient.
Limassol Airport Express bus runs 16 times a day, see schedule here or on the carrier's website - enlimassolairportexpress.eu/. The fare is 9 euros, and 4 euros for children 3-12 years old. The journey takes 60 Minutes. Tickets for it are sold at the counter on the lower floor in the arrivals hall. In Limassol, the bus arrives at the Stop Agios Georgios Havouzas Church, which is two kilometers from the beach and the main resort area, and will have to travel for another 5 euros by taxi.
If you want to save a couple of euros, then take any city bus to the center of Larnaca to the bus stop Finikoudes (Finikoudes Stop) in Larnaca. This is a simple bus stop on the embankment, but at the same time the main interchange. There are buses that go directly to it: #425 and #249. And there are routes on which you can get to the center, and 5 minutes walk to this stop: #417, #418, #419, #446, #456 and #407. The fare is 1.5 euros, the journey is about 30 minutes, run from 5 am to midnight every 30-60 minutes, see the schedules on the links. An intercity bus to Limassol departs from the Finikoudes stop according to the schedule 8-10 times a day depending on the day of the week, see schedule and route here. The journey is one and a half hours, costs 4 euros. This bus goes along the waterfront and resort area, where it makes several stops, and ends up near the Marina/Harbor.

Via Paphos airport
Paphos airport is 65 kilometers from Limassol (Pafos airport on the map). You can get there in the same ways as from Larnaca airport:
-
Taxi. Taxis at fixed rates to the center of Limassol will cost 46 euros during the day, and 54 at night.
-
Tourist transfers. Tourist transfers can be a little more expensive, but offer increased comfort and convenience, meeting the driver at the airport. You can order a transfer online at kiwitaxi.com or intui.travel the sites have Russian language and Russian-language support.
-
By bus. Express bus Limassol Airport Express (Paphos) runs from Paphos airport. The fare is 9 euros, an hour and a half on the way. Sent 3 to 5 times a day depending on the day of the week, see the schedule here.
Also in theory it is possible to get on city and intercity buses through Paphos, but it's just a "hell" route with two transfers and a change of bus station in Paphos, so it's not worth it.

By rented car
This is the most convenient way to get to Limassol from airports and other cities, and in general the best option for independent tourists. Rent a car in Cyprus when booking in advance via the Internet is inexpensive, Russian rights apply, there are almost no cameras on the roads.
It is cheaper to rent a car in Cyprus immediately at one of the airports on arrival. For example, in the spring of 2020, we (the authors of the site) rented a car with an automatic transmission for 7 days for only 30 euros!!! The same price was asked at the box office in the resorts for one day. The only thing you should pay attention to is the availability of parking at the hotel where you plan to stay.
You can rent a car in Cyprus online on one of these trusted aggregator sites that compare prices from different rental companies:
Please note that in the center of Limassol there are difficulties with parking for a long time. There are very few free parking spaces available, a lot of forbidding signs, and a lot of paid parking spaces with an hourly rate of 1 euro per hour. All parking along the embankment is paid, free places can be found only in the depths of the streets, but not everywhere: watch for signs and the presence of parking meters. The parking payment system is as follows: you put the car in the parking lot; Pay at the parking meter for the estimated time of the stand (the first hour is 1 euro, each subsequent one is 0.5 euros); place the sticker received from the machine on the windshield of the car.
Fortunately, even the most inexpensive hotels are aware of this problem, and offer either their own dedicated parking spaces, or hold places for customers along the sidewalks near the accommodation facilities. You can find out about the availability of this service on the sites in the description when booking and searching for hotels.
By bus
You can get to Limassol by intercity buses from two international airports (see details above), from Larnaca, Paphos, Nicosia. There is also a passing bus from Famagusta and Ayia Napa to Paphos. To get here from the cities of Northern Cyprus, you will need to make a transfer in Nicosia or Famagusta. Buses run several times a day only in the daytime, it is better to check the current schedule on the official website - cyprusbybus.com. The fare depending on the route is 4-7 euros.
Airport Express buses arrive/depart Limassol at their Agios Georgios Havouzas Church bus station, which is a couple of kilometers from the waterfront and the main tourist area (Limassol bus station on the map). From here in the city to the hotel you can take a taxi from 5 euros, or use the city buses for 1.5 euros.
Simple intercity buses are more convenient, they pass along the promenade and the tourist area, and make several stops there.
Transportation Limassol, what to move
The tourist area along Molos promenade, where tourists most often stay, is not very large, usually on foot. Most of the attractions of Limassol and the beach in this area will also be accessible to you on foot, but for trips to good beaches or to attractions in the vicinity you will need transport.
The best way to move around during your holiday in Limassol is a rented car. If you want to save money, then, as we mentioned above, it is cheaper to rent it at the airport on arrival, and return it there at the end of the rest. So you will save on taxis, and on internal movements. The rental price is very affordable, especially if you book in advance via the Internet:
If you do not plan to move a lot, you can limit yourself to renting bicycles, but this is not the safest way to move around Limassol. There is very active traffic on the roads, there are traffic jams, so we would recommend using a bicycle only as a walking vehicle for riding along the embankment. The rental price starts from 8 euros per day, and, by the way, a car for rent at the beginning and end of the season is even cheaper. Bicycles for rent are offered in hotels, or you can use the city rental system with hourly payment, but this requires the internet on a mobile device, and in general the system of their use is very confusing.
Also in Limassol there is a system of city buses from several dozen routes. Travel costs 1.5 euros during the day and 2.5 euros at night (from 21:00 to 04:00), children under 6 years old are free. Payment is made to the driver at the entrance. There are also passes for one day for 5 euros, and for a week for 20 euros.
You can get acquainted with the bus routes in Limassol on the website cyprusbybus.com and http://en.limassolbuses.com/, or install the Cyprus By Bus app on your smartphone.
