Limassol Beaches

Article and Section Navigation

Limassol is not only a city, but also a large area, which in addition to the center includes several towns and villages. All of them are considered part of Limassol and are connected to it by city bus transport, so the beaches in them can also be attributed to Limassol. Further review will affect not only the beaches in the center, but also in the vicinity of the city.

The beaches in Limassol are different mixed Sandy-Pebble, Pure Sandy, and just Pebble. In some places, pebbles are only on the shore, and sand is under water, but even taking this into account for a comfortable beach holiday, special swimming shoes – the so-called aqua shoes-will not hurt at all. You can bring them with you from home, or you can buy them right here in shops with tourist goods or in the markets, they cost from 6 euros (7 USD, seeCyprus currency and exchange rate).

Also read the separate instructions about where in Limassol it is better to choose a hotel here.

The influence of tides on the beaches in Limassol is minimal, almost does not appear and does not interfere with beach holidays. Nevertheless, if this question is important to you, you can see the forecast of tides in Limassol for the next six months.

All beaches in Limassol are free, although some places have special features. For example, some hotels are trying very carefully to limit the access of outsiders to their areas of beaches, which they look after. But this does not create great difficulties, you can actually get to absolutely any beach.

On the equipped beaches there are umbrellas and sun beds for rent at the standard price for the whole of Cyprus-2.5 euros (2.92 USD) per unit for the whole day. Moreover, you will have to pay separately for an umbrella and a chaise longue. As a result, a set of an umbrella and two sun loungers will cost 7.5 euros. To save money, you can come with your mattress or bedding, and a portable umbrella, it is not prohibited. Also on such beaches there are free changing cabins and showers, toilets (usually paid). Where there is no separate toilet, they are at the cafe.

  • Limassol city beaches

On some sites you can find descriptions with a breakdown of the City Beach into separate small areas. We deliberately do not do such a breakdown, as it can only be confusing when first introduced to the resort.

In general, it is enough to simply understand that in the very center of Limassol in the area there is no beach on the Molos embankment. But at the place where the embankment ends, a series of city beaches begins, and they stretch for as much as 10 kilometers (Limassol city beaches on the map). But do not be afraid of this, because even the city beaches here are proud owners of the Blue Flag Award for the purity of the water. Just for information, as you move away from the Center, different sections of the city beaches are called Akti Olympion A, Akti Olympion B, Miami Beach, DaNala Beach, Dasoudi Beach, Santa Barbara Beach, Armonia Beach, Vouppa Beach, Aphrodite Beach, Loures Beach, Parekklisia Beach. Of course, as you move away from the center, the infrastructure on the shore and in the city decreases, as does the number of vacationers. Therefore, if you want to relax in a quieter environment, choose a place away from the center, and if closer to the party and attractions – then vice versa. And yet, Dasoudi Beach has been considered the best city beach in Limassol for many years by all ratings and reviews, so you can choose a place of accommodation as close to it as possible.

All the mentioned beaches are sandy with gray and yellowish sand, well-developed infrastructure, quick access to hotels, rented housing and shops literally across the street. Directly on the shore there are cabins for changing clothes, showers, toilets, and of course the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas. So that it is not hot to walk on the sand, there are decking. Water activities are offered. Perhaps the only negative of the city beaches of Limassol – their overcrowding during the peak season in July and August.

To get to any of the mentioned beaches, you can walk from the center on foot, although many tourists, on the contrary, prefer to settle here, and walk to the center. Also along the coast there are many city buses. Travel in them during the day costs 1.5 euros (1.75 USD), after 21 hours 2.5 euros, children under 6 years-free of charge.

  • Marina Beach

This tiny beach is the closest to the center of Limassol. It is completely Sandy, located in a secluded bay next to the Limassol Marina, and protected from waves and winds like no other (Marina Beach on the map). Its length is 200 m. The sand here is yellow, apparently imported. The slope of the bottom and the depth is small, the entrance to the water is convenient, so it is ideal for children. All infrastructure for recreation is there, including a bar and a restaurant Marina Beach Bar.

  • Lady's Mile Beach

Lady's mile or Ladies ' Mile is the longest beach in Cyprus, it stretches for almost 5 kilometers, and all this distance it stretches without interrupting stone plots, construction sites, hotels. It is all Sandy, although in some places there are pebbles or stones.

Ladys Mile Beach is different throughout its length: there are wild places, and there are equipped and with infrastructure, which is concentrated near several cafes, spread out at a respectful distance from each other. So you can find a secluded deserted place, and be close to a tourist hangout and entertainment. There are no hotels here.

By the way, this place is also notable for the fact that pink flamingos fly to the lake nearby for the winter. True, to see them in the midst of the beach season will not work, they are only in winter and spring.

Lady's Mile Beach is located on the Akrotiri Peninsula, and originates five kilometers from the city center (Ladys Mile Beach on the map). Getting here is best by car. Along the entire coast there is a dirt road, there are plenty of parking places. You can also take the bus #30, #21 or # 20, get to the shopping center My Mall, and from there walk to the beginning of Lady's Mile Beach two kilometers.

  • Governor's and Kalymnos Beach

These two beaches are located far from Limassol in a bay next to each other, there is no clear border between them. Nearby is a developing residential and tourist area, known among locals as a village, where a lot of immigrants from the Russian Federation are owners of real estate, so there is an opportunity to visit here not only in the hotel, but also in rented housing.

The beach here is very unusual in its appearance: the water is dark sand with pebbles, and the shore is framed by smooth white rocks. Otherwise, everything is the same as on the other beaches of Limassol: there is everything you need for a holiday in the form of a trip for the day, or if you decide to settle here.

Located 25 kilometers from Limassol (Governor's and Kalymnos Beach on the map). Nearby there is free parking for rented transport. You can also take the city bus number 95A, but note that it only runs in high season once a day, here is the schedule. The schedule is convenient, you can come in the morning and return in the evening.

  • Kourion Beach

Kourion beach or Episcopi Beach is pebbly mixed with sand. The pebbles are very large, almost cobblestones, which is why it is not very convenient to walk here, but I would very much like to, since the coastal strip stretches continuously for almost three kilometers. A small area without pebbles at the water's edge can be found in the Chris Blue Beach cafe area. But under the water begins the sand, the entrance to the water is gentle. Part of the beach is equipped for recreation: there are lifeguard cabins, changing cabins, toilets at the cafe, rental of umbrellas and sun loungers. In one of the three cafes you can have a snack or a full meal.

Kourion Beach is located next to Kourion Archaeological Park, 20 kilometers from the center (Courion Beach on the map). Asphalt leads all the way to the beach, plenty of parking space for free. You can also take the bus number 16B for 1.5 euros. This bus runs infrequently, only a few times a day (see Schedule), goes almost to the beach.

  • Pissouri Beach

Pissouri Beach is not only a remote beach, but also a separate resort area where you can settle for the whole time of your stay. There are many beach and water activities, you can go snorkeling and diving (there is a diving center), and in general the beach is well equipped: free changing rooms, showers and toilets, sun beds and umbrellas for rent.

Pissouri Beach is 35 kilometers from Limassol (Pissouri Beach on the map). Learn more about Pissouri Resort and how to get to the beach here.

  • Aphrodite's Bay Beach

The beach in Aphrodite Bay belongs to Paphos, but the attraction located here The stone of Aphrodite attracts tourists including from Limassol. On both sides of the stone of Aphrodite stretches a long Pebble Beach, undeveloped, there is no infrastructure at all. But it's a great place to relax during the day. The beauty of this place is that if you move a little further from the stone of Aphrodite, it will be a completely deserted beach, no one and nothing puts rest. There are no hotels or any infrastructure even near the beach except for a shop and a cafe in the parking lot next to the Aphrodite stone.

You can only get here by rented transport or taxi, there are no buses (beach in Aphrodite Bay on the map). The car is best left in the spacious free parking next to the Aphrodite Stone, and go to the beach via an underground passage.
