Stone and Bay of Aphrodite, Cyprus
Stone and Aphrodite Bay

Aphrodite's Rock or rock protruding from the sea off the coast south of Paphos. This is a beautiful place, and nothing more, but it is one of the most visited natural attractions in Cyprus especially for tourists who are staying on holiday in Paphos or Limassol. According to legend, the Bay where the stone is located is considered the birthplace of the goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite. Here she, coming out of the snow-white sea foam on the shore, blessed Cyprus for Prosperity.

In general, it is not entirely clear which of the many stones here is the real Aphrodite stone. Someone considers as such a large rock, located partially on the shore, and which can be climbed. Others say that the real stone is the one that is further in the water and is inaccessible from the shore. But for the most part it is not important, but the beauty of the Bay and the beach is important.

In the Bay there is a long pebble beach with very clear water, and visitors call it "the beach from the picture", it is so beautiful, especially at sunset. Above, near the road, there is a simple cafe with a shop and parking, from where several walking trails begin along the neighboring hills to the observation decks. And yet, a couple of kilometers from here is the famous restaurant Petra tou Romiou Restaurant with wonderful views, it is recommended to meet the sunset there during dinner.

However, the attraction has its drawbacks: firstly, there is still a wild beach, the coast is rocky and there is no infrastructure; and secondly, because of the popularity a lot of people come here, and it will not be possible to relax here in the season. The bottom of the beach is rocky, swimming is dangerous.
