How to get to Nha Trang from Phan Thiet and Mui Ne

An overview of how to get there, and which way is better

There are 220 kilometers between Nha Trang and Mui Ne/Phan Thiet. You can get from one resort to another by plane through Ho Chi Minh City airport, by train, bus or taxi.

🚌 In our opinion, the most optimal way both in terms of price and time is a bus. It is especially convenient and profitable to take a night sleeping bus, and then you will also save on hotel accommodation. However, to do this, you will have to check out of the hotel in advance (usually it's 12 o'clock in the afternoon), take a walk around Mui Ne, and then take the night bus in the evening. You will arrive in Nha Trang early in the morning, and then again you will have to take a walk until you check into the hotel, usually at 14:00. But, fortunately, in Vietnam, you can easily leave things at the hotel at the reception before check-in or after you check out. Well, if you are lucky and your room is ready earlier, you can be settled a few hours earlier at no extra charge.

🚖 Faster than by bus, you can get there by taxi, but it's more expensive. But if you are traveling with a group or a family, it will be a little more expensive than a bus and much more comfortable. Well, one more important plus: you will be picked up from the hotel and taken to the hotel.

🚆 In our opinion, the train is not very suitable for moving from Mui Ne and Phan Thiet to Nha Trang. Firstly, it costs significantly more than a bus. And secondly, the railway station in Phan Thiet is very inconvenient and far away, and to get to it, you will have to spend time and money.

✈ As for the plane, although it is faster by itself, but taking into account the time it will take to get to Ho Chi Minh City Airport, check-in time, flight, transfer from Nha Trang Airport to the hotel, in the end it may be even longer than a bus or taxi. Therefore, we do not even recommend considering this option.

A taxi ride from Phan Thiet and Mui Ne to Nha Trang will cost from $70 per car for up to 4 people, 3-5 hours on the way. You will not be able to order a car as a taxi using the Grab or Maxim apps. You will have to negotiate with drivers on the street, at the hotel reception, in travel agencies, or search online. It is better to discuss the trip in advance, at least a day or two before departure.

Sleeping buses Hanh Cafe and Techbus run from the resort area of Mui Ne to Nha Trang, 5-6 hours on the way. Buses run from their offices in the center of the resort area of Mui Ne, they are easy to find on the map and get to them by taxi, city bus No. 1 or even on foot. The price starts from 200,000 VND directly from companies, or from 300,000 when buying from travel agencies, including a transfer to the bus station from the hotel. There is a schedule and booking of tickets for 12go.asia, but Russian cards are not accepted for booking. Therefore, go directly to the offices of these companies or book tickets at the hotel reception or at any street travel agency.

Even more buses run to Nha Trang from Phan Thiet Main Bus Station. In turn, you can get to the Phan Thiet bus station by taxi, or take the city bus No. 1 to the city center (Coop Mart Shopping center), and then walk a little to the bus station or change by taxi. We recommend that you buy tickets from Phan Thiet Bus Station to Nha Trang from Futa Buslines. They have good sleeping buses and there is a free shuttle service from the new Nha Trang Bus Station to the hotel, just do not forget to request it when buying tickets.

In Nha Trang, buses from Phan Thiet arrive in different places, it depends on the carrier company. For example, FUTA bus lines arrives at the new southern bus station, but there it transfers to minivans and delivers to hotels in the center. Some companies only take you to the new southern bus station, and then get there yourself. And some are taken directly to hotels or with a transfer at their station. Check all this when buying tickets.

• ⏲ Time spent: 5 hours + 2 hours

Binh Thuan Railway Station is located 15 kilometers from Phan Thiet, it is the former Muong man station (Binh Thuan railway station on Phan Thiet map). It is from her that trains run to Nha Trang, and you will first have to get to her from Mui Ne, and how, everything is lower. At least 5 trains run daily, the cost starts from 178,000 VND per seat. In turn, you can get to this railway station in Phan Thiet from the beaches by taxi or city buses. A taxi will cost from 450,000 VND (17.11 USD) when ordering through Grab or Maxim applications, and a little more expensive if you catch a car on the spot.

Instead of a taxi, you can get there on a budget by city buses with a transfer, but this option is suitable only for experienced travelers with a backpack. First you need to get to the center of Phan Thiet to the Coop Mart shopping center by bus No. 1 from the resort area of Mui Ne or by bus No. 6 from Bikini Beach. At Coop Mart, you will need to transfer to bus number 9 already to this railway station. Just do not confuse and do not get off earlier at the PhanThiet railway station.

Here is information about these buses:

• Bus number 9. It goes past the railway station Binh Thuan and past the railway station Phan Thiet Railway Station, and further into the city center. Walks from 5:30 to 18:30 every 30-40 minutes. The cost is 8000 – 35,000 VND.

• Bus number 1. This is the most popular and convenient route for tourists, as it passes through the entire resort area of Mui Ne and into the center of Phan Thiet. The fare costs 8000 - 20000 depending on the length. It runs from 05:30 to 19:00 every 20-30 minutes.

• Bus number 6. These buses depart from the center of Phan Thiet from Lotte Mart shopping Center, pass by Coop Mart, and then go through the resort area of Thien Tanh and Bikini Beach to Mike Ke Ga. They run every 30-40 minutes from 6:00 to 18:00, the fare is 8 000 – 25 000 dongov.
