What Beaches Are in Nha Trang – Amenities, Activities, and Infrastructure
Long ago, Nha Trang, now the capital of Khanh Hoa province in central Vietnam, was just a fishing village. And now it's one of the most popular resorts in Vietnam, and for good reason.
What attracts tourists to Nha Trang? Of course – beach vacations. In addition to the main city beach, which stretches for 5 kilometers along the city promenade, there are stunningly scenic spots along the coast near the city where everyone can find a vacation to their liking. These are beaches that combine romance, comfort, tranquility, and communion with nature. Most of these beaches can not only be visited for a day trip but also stayed at for several days in one of the hotels.
Almost all beaches in Nha Trang are open to the public and free. There are only a few secluded beaches where access is blocked by hotel grounds or there's an entrance fee, but they are all far from the center.
Although Nha Trang can safely be called one of the most developed resort destinations in Vietnam, the same cannot be said about beach infrastructure and activities. In Vietnam generally, it's not common to set up changing cabins, showers, cafes and stalls, or toilets on the shore. So don't be surprised if you don't find all the familiar amenities you might be used to from, say, Black Sea resorts. Nevertheless, the bare essentials are here: sunbeds and umbrellas for rent at 50,000 VND, a paid toilet for 10,000 VND, and vendors selling fast food and drinks.
In rare spots on the shore, water activities and SUP board rentals are organized. But again, you have to search for them along the entire stretch of the beach. We saw beach activities only in the southern part of the city beach opposite the tourist area.
How Tides Affect Nha Trang Beaches
First and foremost, it's important to know! Tides do not depend on the time of day. That's a myth spread by bloggers who don't understand how things actually work, but somehow this myth is very actively propagated online. In reality, tide times depend on many factors and are constantly changing, determined by prediction tables. We have one right here:
Regarding the impact of tides on Nha Trang beaches, neither low nor high tides cause any inconvenience for swimming. The slope of the seabed and the width of the beach strip are such that you can swim anytime, with the only difference being that during low tide you'll need to walk a bit further to reach deeper water, and that's it. But you probably won't even notice any difference. 📹 We talked about tides in Nha Trang in our video, watch it to know!!!
Hotels and Accommodation in Nha Trang, Where to Stay
Despite the departure of popular global hotel aggregators like Booking and Agoda from Russia, there are no difficulties finding and booking hotels with payment by Russian card. We use these reliable and tested sites; they all accept Russian MIR cards and previously issued Visa and Mastercard from Russia. We often use Trip.com from this list because most of the time prices there are lower than on other sites. But it's still better to compare the same hotel across all sites and choose where it's cheaper:
- 🛌 Search for hotels in Nha Trang on Trip.com (👍 MIR cards work)
- 🛌 Search for hotels in Nha Trang on Yandex.Travel
- 🛌 Search for hotels on Ostrovok.ru
- 🛌 Search for hotels on Booking.com (payment with foreign card or cash on site)

Nha Trang City Beach – The Main Resort Beach
Nha Trang city beach The city beach stretches for almost 5 kilometers along the entire city coastline (Nha Trang City Beach on the map). You can read many reviews online saying it's a very bad and dirty beach, but in our opinion, that's just exaggeration and bias. In reality, Nha Trang city beach is quite good and perfectly suitable for a vacation if you want to be simultaneously close to the sea and close to excellent city and tourist infrastructure, with shopping malls, travel agencies, currency exchanges, and everything else nearby. And in the evenings, you can stroll along the beautiful and very long promenade, the lively tourist area, and the night market. So, our opinion is that if you're visiting Nha Trang or Vietnam for the first time, you won't find a better place to stay at this resort.
Everything is here, even palm trees
There's a great promenade
Nha Trang city beach Despite being centrally located, the city beach is never overcrowded. On the contrary, if you go to one of the distant developed beaches, you'll see more vacationers there than in the center.
The shore is clean here, and even if tourists leave litter or the sea washes it up, it's constantly cleaned. Again, you might hear that the water here is dirty and that it's much cleaner on distant beaches, but in reality, it's hard to agree with that, because if there are waves at sea, sand suspension rises everywhere, not just at the city beach.
In the southern part of the beach, opposite Nha Trang's tourist area, there are sunbeds and umbrellas (50,000 VND each, about 1.9 USD, )but bargaining is possible), water activities (banana boat, jet ski, catamaran, parasail, etc.). Of course, vendors walk around with drinks, snacks, and souvenirs, and masseuses offer their services. Most of Nha Trang's hotels are concentrated in this area. If you head north (upper part on the map), there's practically no beach infrastructure at all.
This is the southernmost part of the city beach Along the entire shore here runs the busy Tran Phu street, but in the southern part opposite the tourist area, the beach is separated from it by a wide pedestrian zone. This zone contains a park and sports facilities, so the presence of the road is not a major inconvenience.
In the far south, there are several hotels with their own private beaches, which are cleaned and maintained much better than the rest within the city limits. Anyone can access them, but only hotel guests can use the sunbeds and umbrellas.

Hon Chong North Beach – Is it Worth Choosing?
Hon Chong Beach 📹 Our video about Hon Chong Beach
Hon Chong is sometimes mistakenly called a central beach, perhaps due to the efforts of travel agents sending unsuspecting tourists there. In reality, Hon Chong, although within city limits, is far from the center and not the central beach, but a northern area (Hon Chong on the map).
To be honest, we don't like this area or the beach. The beach itself is generally good, certainly no worse than in the center. But the problem is that it's too small for such a large area. Its length is at most 500 meters compared to 5 kilometers of beach in the center! As a result, it looks overcrowded compared to the central one. Another obvious drawback is too much shade from the tall buildings. So after 3 PM, or even earlier, it's already impossible to sunbathe here.
Overall, Hon Chong is a decent beach, but it's small
But in the afternoon, there's too much shade here As for the area, impressions are also mixed. On one hand, it's new, with many new buildings under construction and wide roads. On the other hand, all the tourist infrastructure, large shopping malls, the promenade, the night market, etc., are still in the center. So our advice is: if possible, we recommend refraining from staying in this area for now, if your main goal is a beach vacation.
Northern area of Nha Trang -
Libera Beach and Area
Libera 📹 Our video about the Libera area
Libera is a new tourist area 10 kilometers north of the center of Nha Trang (Libera beach and area on the map). When we were there at the end of 2024, this tourist town was just being built; of all the infrastructure, only a couple of cafes and the Do Theater were operating, and everything else was under construction. So, in fact, this area is still a ghost town for now, and it's not worth staying in hotels here, even if you find operating ones. But the area has good prospects, and probably in a couple of years there will be a great modern tourist area here with all amenities, albeit away from the city and city infrastructure.
This area will be very modern But the beach here is already operational today, so you can come to relax now. There are several beaches here, all located in small coves, and they are also being developed for now. But honestly, we can't name a reason to come here for a day from the center just to relax on the beach. Unless you're just curious to see this ultra-modern area.
But for now, there's construction and it's empty here You can get here by rental vehicle or taxi, and you can leave it in the free parking lot when entering the area, as parking inside is not allowed yet. You can get here by taxi for about 150,000 VND when booking via Grab or Maxim apps. City bus #23 also goes here, ride to the final stop.

Marina Beach
Marina Beach Marina Beach is one of the few private beaches in Nha Trang, or as it's also called, a club beach. It is located 7 kilometers north of the center (Marina Beach on the map). You can get there by rental vehicle or taxi from 100,000 VND. A city bus is planned to run here eventually.
Entrance here is paid – 100,000 VND. This price includes the use of a sunbed and umbrella, and parking. Located in a sheltered bay, there are no strong waves even in bad weather. There is a cafe here, and a beautiful green area for relaxation. In short, everything is designed to make visitors feel like "elite". But in our opinion, the price for this relaxation is clearly inflated.
Marina Beach The area near the beach is still under development. As far as we know, they plan to build a modern resort town here, for which old buildings are being demolished and new hotels built. But today, it's another ghost town where, besides rare hotels and cafes, nothing is open, and there is no infrastructure.

Bai Dai Beach – Wild 15-Kilometer Sand
Bai Dai Translated from Vietnamese – long beach. And indeed – 15 kilometers long! The place is not hyped; there are no abundance of restaurants and infrastructure here. That's not surprising, because 10 years ago, there was a military base here. But now it's a quiet, peaceful getaway. Bai Dai Beach will appeal to those who need passive relaxation on white, flour-like sand. There are sunbeds, canopies, cafes where they prepare seafood dishes (lobster will cost you less than in the city). Entering the sea is very convenient, without strong depth changes. There are practically no waves. They only rise from November to February (winter season). A great time for surfers.
The beach is located 20 kilometers from Nha Trang (Bai Dai Beach on the map). That's only 15-20 minutes by taxi or scooter.
But there's a fly in the ointment. The fact is that today many tourists already know about this beach and go there daily from the city. As a result, the beach has become very littered in places (since no one cleans it) and crowded. Of course, prices for everything have also risen. And, honestly, it's far from the city, and you can't go there every day.
There are no hotels on this beach; the only hotel available for booking, Mia Resort Nha Trang (5*), is located a couple of kilometers from the northern end of the beach, but this hotel has its own decent private beach. Also, in the north of the beach, there is a campsite in Nha Trang Wonderpark, where you can stay overnight.
-
Doc Let Beach – Paradise Cove with Hotels
Doc Let Doc Let Beach, also known as Dok Let or Van Phong Bay, is slightly smaller in length than Bai Dai Beach. Doc Let stretches for 10 kilometers. And it's located much farther from Nha Trang – 45 kilometers, to the north (Doc Let Beach on the map). Therefore, most tourists come here for the whole day. You can take a taxi or get there by boat.
Infrastructure here includes hotels, pools, restaurants, shops. On the beach, there are sunbeds and umbrellas.
What attracts people to Doc Let is primarily its natural beauty: palm trees along the shore, white sand, turquoise sea. The seabed is very comfortable, not rocky.
You can stay at one of the hotels on this beach:
-
Monkey Island Beach
Monkey Island Another beach is located on Monkey Island near Nha Trang. Getting there is not easy, and it doesn't have any particular advantages, but since it exists, we must mention it (Monkey Island Beach on the map).
On this beach, there are sunbeds and umbrellas, kayak and jet ski rentals. Nearby, there is a cafe and a go-kart track. The island itself is full of monkeys, which, by the way, can actually interfere with your peaceful relaxation (you can't leave your belongings unattended for a second). The seabed slope is very gentle: to reach depth, you'll need to walk about 50 meters. There are no hotels on the island. More about Monkey Island and its beach.
-
Jungle Beach (Hon Heo)
Jungle Beach It's quite far from Nha Trang (60 kilometers, Jungle Beach on the map) – on the other side of the Heo Peninsula, but it's definitely worth visiting this beach. Picturesque nature, an oceanic beach (however, swimming is safe because the waves break far from the shore and subside as they approach). And also mountains, jungle, a 12-meter waterfall, in the pool of which you can swim. Small secluded beaches hidden from view in coves and lagoons. If you want to stay together in this paradise for more than a day, you can rent a bungalow.
-
Paragon Beach
Paragon Although it belongs to a hotel of the same name, entrance is free for all tourists. However, you'll have to pay about $3 for a sunbed. This beach is considered luxury, with well-maintained grounds, luxurious villas, and perfectly placed palm trees. The beach is located not far from the Vinpearl cable car (Paragon Beach on the map), and conveniently, it's easy to get to the city from here via city bus #4.
A quiet, peaceful spot for discerning tourists. Swimming is comfortable, as there are two breakwaters in the sea forming a pool between them, so waves don't interfere with swimming in any season. This is an ideal place for a peaceful family vacation.
