You can't say about Nha Trang that it's an elite resort only with expensive five-star hotels, nor that it's exclusively a backpacker place full of cheap hotels. The beauty and convenience of Nha Trang is precisely that it is a very democratic resort where you can find accommodation for any budget and any needs.

There are several five-star hotels in Nha Trang (or rather, equivalent to them, since Vietnam lacks an official hotel star classification), ready to meet the highest demands of vacationers. Some of the expensive hotels have their own (private) beach where outsiders are not allowed, territory with pools and rest areas. But such hotels are located many kilometers from the city center and outside the tourist district, i.e., they belong to Nha Trang only formally.

For budget travelers and even "backpackers," there is also a sufficient number of hotels here where you can stay for up to $10 for a double room. Moreover, even for such a price, in most cases you will get all the necessary amenities in these hotels: air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, shower. And for $2! you can find a bunk in a decent hostel.

Where to Choose a Hotel in Nha Trang, in Which District is Best to Stay

• Nha Trang Center and Tourist District

  The tourist district of Nha Trang and the largest concentration of budget accommodations are in the city center near 64 Tran Phu Street and along Bien Thu Street, where the so-called Mini Hotel Alley is located, so if you arrive in Nha Trang without a booked hotel, that's exactly where you need to go (tourist district on map). Most tourist buses and minivans from other Vietnamese resorts arrive here, so you won't have to get to the district on connections upon arrival in the city. The cheapest hotels can be found not on the main street and along the embankment, but if you go a bit deeper into the numerous lanes.

  

  Generally, Nha Trang center is quite compact, so when choosing a hotel, you can choose any hotel you like, as long as it's not too far from the beach and tourist district.

  

  

  

• Northern District

  Besides the center, there is also Hon Chong Beach and the northern district within the city limits. It's also sometimes called the beach in the center for some reason, possibly thanks to the efforts of travel agents who send unsuspecting tourists here. Actually, although Hon Chong is within the city limits, it's already far from the center (northern district on map).

  To be honest, we don't like this district or the beach. The beach here is generally good, certainly no worse than in the center. But the problem is that it's too small for such a large district. Its length is at most 500 meters compared to 5 kilometers of beach in the center! And as a result, it looks simply overcrowded compared to the central one. Another clear minus is too much shade from tall buildings. So after 3 pm, or even earlier, it's already impossible to sunbathe here.

  

  

• Beaches Outside the City

  There are also several districts (beaches) outside Nha Trang along the coast, and on Hon Tre Island (also Hon Che) a few kilometers offshore, there are several expensive hotels. But staying there makes sense if you want first-class beach vacation and are ready to put up with high prices and lack of developed tourist and city infrastructure nearby. That is, having stayed in such a place, you will find nothing but beaches outside the hotel.
