How to get to Mui Ne (Phan Thiet) from the airport

Ho Chi Minh City Airport is the main airport through which tourists get to the popular resort of Mui Ne and the city of Phan Thiet. It is located 200 kilometers away or 3-4 hours away by taxi, but depending on the chosen transport, it may take a whole day to get here. A taxi back from Mui Ne to the airport may be a little cheaper, but it's better to take care of ordering in advance, or find a car at least a day before the trip through a hotel or travel agency on the street, so it will be cheaper and more reliable.

🚐 Direct minivans

In the daytime, minibuses cost from 500,000 VND depart from the Airport to Phan Thiet (19 USD), delivered to the hotel in Mui Ne or Phan Thiet, or finish the movement at the Lotte mart shopping center. The journey takes 4-5 hours.

You can find them at the exit of the domestic terminal across the street or at the counters when exiting the international terminal. You can check the schedule and book tickets online for this route on the website 12go.asia, but they don't accept payment with ANY Russian cards there.

🚌 By bus with transfer through the city center

• ⏲ Time spent: 5-6 hours + 1-2 hours drive to the city center and waiting for the bus

Another and inexpensive option is with a transfer through Ho Chi Minh City. But this route will take almost a whole day. It is not necessary to book tickets in advance, you can buy them on the spot and leave immediately. Buses depart at least every hour from 6 am to 23 pm, on the way 4-5 hours, there are also night flights. But at this time you still need to add a couple of hours to get from the airport to the place of departure of buses in the center or at one of the bus stations. Here's how to do it:

The easiest option is to transfer through the tourist center of Ho Chi Minh City (district No. 1, Ben Tan Market and Pham Ngu Lao Street). To do this, take the city bus No. 152 from the airport (5000 VND / 0.19 USD) or No. 109 (15,000 VND / 0.57 USD) and take it to the tourist street Pham Ngu Lao. There are several travel agencies and offices of bus companies on this street, where you can immediately buy a ticket for the next flight and leave for Mui Ne.

We recommend a large company Futa Bus Lines. They have the lowest prices – from 180,000 VND to a hotel in the resort area of Mui Ne, and comfortable sleeping buses. From the office in the center you will be taken by minivan to one of the bus stations, and there you will be transferred to a large bus. These buses go first to the bus station in Phan Thiet, and then pass through the entire resort area to the Mui Ne bus station, so you can get off at any place convenient for you at the right hotel.

You can also go to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne through the local bus stations Mien Tay or Mieng Dong Moi, and they can also be reached from the airport by city buses with transfers. But to be honest, there is no big point in this, because you will also leave the tourist center of Ho Chi Minh City for the same money as written above.

🚗 On a rented car

If you prefer to travel at your own discretion and not depend on anyone, you can rent a car at Ho Chi Minh City Airport and take it to Mui Ne. In Vietnam, on completely legal grounds, you can drive a rented vehicle using an international driver's license (IDP) that meets the requirements of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (read more about renting a motorcycle and a car in Vietnam here...). These are the ones issued in the Russian Federation, and previously it was necessary to obtain temporary local rights, and no others were recognized in the country. Now you can safely drive with a driver's license issued in Russia. Just do not forget that the IDP operates only in conjunction with national rights, so you need to take both types of rights to Vietnam at once. You can get an IDP from the traffic police (traffic police), their cost / state duty is 1600 rubles. Taking exams for obtaining an MBA is not required.
