How to get to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh City

Phan Thiet and the resort area of Mui Ne are a few hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). In the same place, in Ho Chi Minh City, there is the nearest airport to which tourists from Russia usually arrive. You can get from Ho Chi Minh City and the airport to the resort by bus, taxi or train.
But first, for proper understanding, it is worth mentioning once again that Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are different places. Phan Thiet is a city, and Mui Ne is a village and a resort area that is located next to Phan Thiet. Accordingly, if you arrive in Phan Thiet, you still have to get to your hotel in the resort area in Mui Ne by taxi or local bus. But let's talk about everything in more detail:
A taxi back from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh City or the airport can be even a little cheaper. But it is better to take care of ordering in advance and find a car at least a day before the trip through a hotel or travel agency on the street. So it will be cheaper and more reliable.

Intercity bus to Mui Ne
There are several bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City, from where buses leave for Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. For example, the most famous are Mien Tay or Mieng Dong Moi. You can get to them by city buses or taxis, and immediately buy a ticket for the next flight on the spot.
But if you are staying in the center of Ho Chi Minh City in the tourist district No. 1, this one, where Ben Tan market and Pham Ngu Lao Street are located, then there is no point in going to these bus stations. For the same money and it is much more convenient to leave directly from this area.
To do this, go to the famous tourist street Pham Ngu Lao (Pham Ngu Lao), there are several travel agencies and offices of bus companies where you can immediately buy a ticket for the next flight and go to Mui Ne. Since the street is long, look for them on this street from the Ben Tan market.
We recommend a large company Futa Bus Lines, they have an office on Pham Ngu Lao and in several other places in the center, you can find them on the map. Futa, in our experience, has the lowest prices – from 180,000 VND, and comfortable sleeping buses. But the coolest thing is that Futa buses go first to Phan Thiet bus station, and then through the entire resort area of Mui Ne to their bus station almost at the village of Mui Ne (Mui Ne bus station on the map). That is, you can get out anywhere in the resort area near your hotel. After buying tickets from the Futa office in the center, you will first be taken by minivan to one of the bus stations, and there you will be transferred to a large bus.
Futa has its own website https://futabus.vn/, you can check the schedule and prices there. Well, all the carrier companies are on the site at once 12go.asia. Unfortunately, Russian cards for 12go are not accepted, but you can at least look at the schedule and decide on the points of dispatch.

Rented car in Vietnam
If you prefer to travel at your own discretion and not depend on anyone, you can rent a car at Ho Chi Minh City Airport and take it to Mui Ne. In Vietnam, on completely legal grounds, you can drive a rented vehicle using an international driver's license (IDP) that meets the requirements of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (read more about renting a motorcycle and a car in Vietnam here...). These are the ones issued in the Russian Federation, and previously it was necessary to obtain temporary local rights, and no others were recognized in the country. Now you can safely drive with a driver's license issued in Russia. Just do not forget that the IDP operates only in conjunction with national rights, so you need to take both types of rights to Vietnam at once. You can get an IDP from the traffic police (traffic police), their cost / state duty is 3200 rubles. Taking exams for obtaining an MBA is not required.
The price for renting a car is still quite high, from $ 50 per day. There are offices of international rental companies in the country, you can book a car and get it at the airport or in the center of Ho Chi Minh City:

Train in Vietnam
To be honest, the option of taking the train to Mui Ne or Phan Thiet from Ho Chi Minh City does not seem very convenient to us. The fact is that the railway stations in Phan Thiet are located far away and inconvenient, and at the same time that you still need to adjust to the rare train schedule and get to the railway station in Ho Chi Minh City itself, all this makes a train trip a dubious pleasure. And the price of the train is by no means democratic. So we can recommend the train only if you really want to ride it. There are two railway stations near Phan Thiet, and they can be used to get here from different cities: from Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Fanrang, Da Nang, Hue, Hanoi. But to be honest, in our opinion, it is not very convenient and expensive to travel here by train. After all, compared to buses, trains are significantly more expensive, and the railway stations are very inconvenient and far from the resort area. If you still decide to go by train, then keep in mind that there are two stations here, and different trains run to them from Ho Chi Minh City:
Binh Tuan Station
Binh Thuan, a former Muong man station, is located 15 kilometers from Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan railway station on Phan Thiet map). And the kurotny zone from this railway station is generally as much as 30 km away. From here to Mui Ne you can take a taxi from 450 000 VND(17.11 USD) when ordering through Grab or Maxim applications, and a little more expensive if you catch a car on the spot. Instead of a taxi, you can take a budget bus number 9 to the center of Phan Thiet, get off there at the Coop Mart shopping center, and transfer to bus number 1 to Mui Ne or bus number 6 to the resort area of Phan Thiet Thien Tanh and Bikini Beach. The main branch of the railway of Vietnam passes through this station, and you can get here by train not only from Ho Chi Minh City, but also from Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Fanrang, Hue and other cities. The only thing to keep in mind when planning a route is that not all trains stop at this station.
There are at least 6 trains daily to this station from Ho Chi Minh City's main railway station Ga Saigon. The journey takes 2.5 – 3 hours. It is not necessary to buy tickets in advance, they are available before departure.

Recall that the schedule, cost and availability of tickets are best checked on the official website of the railways of Vietnam - https://dsvn.vn/, but it is impossible to buy tickets with payment by Russian cards there. If you do not have a foreign card, you will have to buy tickets at the ticket offices at the station or at street travel agencies.
Phan Thiet Station
Another Phan Thiet Railway Station is located much closer to the center of Phan Thiet, almost on its outskirts (Phan Thiet railway station on the map). From it to the place of rest can be reached in the same way as from the previous station, i.e. by taxi (approximately 300,000 DONG to the center of Mui Ne), or by buses No. 9 with a transfer to No. 1 or No. 6.
But the problem is that trains run to this station only from Ho Chi Minh City, this is the SPT2 train. Departs daily from the main railway station of Ho Chi Minh City at 06:30 and arrives in Phan Thiet at 11:05. Seats are only seated, ticket from 161 000 VND (6.12 USD). The train departs from Phan Thiet to Ho Chi Minh City at 13:10 and arrives at 17:30.
As a result, taking into account the need to get to the railway stations from the resort in tourist areas, it takes more time and longer than a bus ride. And the bus schedule is more flexible and frequent. Therefore, we recommend using this option only if you really want to take a ride on local trains.

Мы ездили в Муйне на автобусе из Хошимина, очень удобно и недорого вышло, только учтите что автобус идет почти 5 часов так что берите с собой перекус.
