Our opinion: If your budget allows and you value time — take the plane. It's the most civilized and fastest option. If you want to feel the country and save money — choose a night sleeper bus (especially VIP class) or a night train in a compartment. The daytime train is an excellent choice for photography lovers and slow travelers.
Plane from Nha Trang to Da Nang ✈
This is the optimal choice if you want to gain a whole day for rest and exploration. Direct flights from Cam Ranh Airport (CXR) to Da Nang Airport (DAD) are operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways. You will spend just over an hour in the air.

Lifehack from our experience: Don't think that flying within Vietnam is always expensive. Domestic flights here, especially on low-cost carriers like Vietjet, often cost less than a night train in a compartment if you buy tickets a few weeks in advance. We constantly monitor prices and catch sales.

Prices start from 1-1.5 million VND one way. To avoid overpaying, always compare prices on aggregators Aviasales and Trip.com. They do a good job of finding options from different airlines.

How to get to Cam Ranh Airport from Nha Trang
The airport is located 30 km from the center of Nha Trang. Options:
- Taxi (Grab, Mai Linh): Most convenient. Via Grab, the trip will cost about 400,000 VND (45-60 minutes).
- Bus: Cheapest. The airport minibus to the local Dat Moi bus station costs 65,000 VND. From there, you can take a taxi to your destination. There is also a new comfortable VinBus No.16-2 for 50,000 VND.
- Pre-ordered transfer: Convenient with a lot of luggage or for a group. Can be ordered via Kiwitaxi or at the hotel reception.

How to leave Da Nang Airport for the city
Da Nang Airport is located almost in the city center, which is very convenient. Options:
- Taxi (Mai Linh, Vinasun, Grab): Our favorite. A trip to My Khe beach or the center will cost from 70,000 to 100,000 VND (10-20 minutes). Order via the Grab app for a fixed price.
- City bus: For 8,000 VND, you can get to the center on buses No.06 and No.10.
- If your hotel is in Hoi An: You can take a taxi directly from the airport (from 300,000 VND, 1 hour) or pre-order a transfer.
Our verdict: Flying is our choice when time is limited or when we catch a good Vietjet sale. The price difference with the bus sometimes isn't that big, and the 8-9 hours of travel saved are worth it.
Train from Nha Trang to Da Nang 🚆
Train travel is a classic Vietnamese journey. The line between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City runs right through both cities. You will spend about 9-10 hours on the road.

- Soft Sleeper (4-berth compartment): Air conditioning, clean bedding, power outlet. Perfect for an overnight journey. Price Nha Trang-Da Nang — approximately from 700,000 to 1,200,000 VND.
- Hard Sleeper (6-berth compartment): Same berths, but in three tiers. The top bunk is very low. Cheaper by 20-30%.
- Soft Seat / Hard Seat: For daytime trips. Hard Seat is a real immersion into local life, but for 10 hours — a challenge for an unprepared tourist.

- 12go.asia — the best website for foreigners. Interface in Russian, payment by card (except Russian cards), electronic ticket is sent. Prices with a small markup.
- Official Vietnam Railways website (dsvn.vn) — cheaper, but the interface is complicated, and Russian cards don't work. However, this has the most complete schedule.
- At the ticket office at Nha Trang station — the cheapest way, but you need to buy 1-2 days in advance, especially before weekends.
- At travel agencies in Nha Trang — small markup, but they will help and explain everything.
Important from personal experience: Be careful when buying tickets in small agencies, especially Russian-speaking ones. Prices can be heavily inflated, compare with other agencies. And double-check the data on the ticket, they might sell a ticket to the wrong place.

Stations and how to get there
In Nha Trang: The railway station is practically in the center (on the map). You can get there by Grab taxi (from 30,000 VND from the tourist area).
In Da Nang: The station is also in the center, on Hai Phong St. (on the map). From here to the hotel — by Grab taxi (about 80,000 VND) or by bus No.05 for 8,000 VND.
Our verdict: A night train in a Soft Sleeper compartment is an excellent alternative. You save a hotel night and wake up already in Da Nang. The daytime train is worth taking if you are not afraid of a long journey and want to enjoy the coastal views from the window.
Bus from Nha Trang to Da Nang 🚌
This is the most economical and flexible way. The bus network in Vietnam is incredibly developed. On the Nha Trang-Da Nang route, mainly overnight sleeper buses (Sleeper Bus) operate, which allows you to save on a hotel. Travel time is 10-12 hours.
Our advice: Buy tickets for VIP buses if available. These are sleeper buses with separate cabins, like a capsule hotel. They are much more comfortable than regular Sleeper Buses. We even traveled together in one cabin for the price of one ticket when we needed to save money.

Our verdict: The overnight sleeper bus is the choice of budget travelers and backpackers. It's real savings on money and time (night on the road). Buy tickets from trusted carriers (Futa) and be prepared for the road to be winding and possibly motion-sickness inducing. For tall people (over 180 cm), the seats may be a bit cramped.
Which way to choose? Our opinion and final advice
Based on our repeated experience of traveling between these cities, here's how we would choose:
- Do you value time and comfort, budget is not the main thing? Take the plane. One hour in the air versus 10 hours of shaking is incomparable. Especially if you catch a Vietjet sale.
- Want to save money but also see the country and not shake in a bus? Your choice is the night train in a Soft Sleeper compartment. You fell asleep in Nha Trang, woke up in Da Nang, and even saved on a hotel night.
- Budget is limited, but time is not pressing? Then your option is the overnight sleeper bus (Sleeper Bus). This is the cheapest way, which also allows you to spend the night on the road. Choose VIP buses for more comfort.
- Love photography and not afraid of a long journey? Try the daytime train.
Regardless of your choice, buy tickets in advance, especially during the high season (December-February) and on weekends. This will save you money and nerves.
