If you have arrived at Ho Chi Minh City airport on an international flight, to board a flight to Nha Trang you will need to transfer from the international terminal (International) to the domestic terminal (Domestic). However, now Ho Chi Minh City airport has two domestic terminals: T1 (old) and T3 (new). Domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air have been moved to the new T3 terminal, but changes are possible. Therefore, before traveling, check which terminal you are departing from or arriving at, so you don't accidentally go to the wrong terminal.
From the international terminal to T1 you can walk, but to T3 they run free shuttle buses. In general, for such a connection we recommend allowing at least 5 hours in case of delay of the first flight and for passport and customs control upon arrival. If everything goes perfectly, such a transfer takes a couple of hours.
If you are already in central Ho Chi Minh City, it is easy to get to the airport by taxi or city buses, transport here is very well developed. You can read more about all this in our guide to Ho Chi Minh City airport here.
How to get from Cam Ranh Airport to Nha Trang
When you fly to Nha Trang, the most convenient way to get to your hotel is by taxi. You can use a taxi with a fixed price, take a taxi by meter, or order a car via the Grab taxi app or Maxim. The last option is the cheapest, the trip will cost about 400,000 dong (15.21 USD, )see Vietnamese currency, exchange rate). The journey takes just under an hour.
You can order a motorbike taxi via these apps for cheaper, it will cost from 170,000 dong. But a motorbike taxi is only suitable for one passenger and without suitcases, but if you are traveling with a backpack - it's a great way to save money. There is only one nuance: motorbike taxis are not allowed onto the airport parking lot, you will have to walk about 500 meters from the territory.
If you want to travel comfortably, you can order a tourist transfer when booking with the hotel, or do it online. In this case, you will be met at the airport with a sign and delivered to the hotel door without language difficulties. You can place an order on websites with Russian-language support Kiwitaxi or Intui.travel, in local travel agencies and specialized sites, for example here: yourlocalbooking.com (English only), or via the search form:
The cheapest way to get to Nha Trang is to use the airport minibus, which will take you to a small local bus station Dat Moi Bus Station (bus station on the map). Ticket cost 65,000 dong (2.47 USD), you can buy it at the counter inside the airport before the exit. They run from 5:30 to 23:00 every 30 minutes, journey time 45 minutes. From Nha Trang back to the airport they run from 4:30 to 19:30.
What is convenient is that this bus passes almost the entire resort along the main street along the embankment, and you can ask the driver to stop the bus at a convenient place and walk to your hotel. Or use local taxis, again best through Grab or Maxim apps, a short-distance trip within the city will cost about 40,000 dong (1.52 USD).
You can also rent a car right at the airport and drive to the hotel or vacation spot. However, the price for car rental in Vietnam remains quite high, from 40 dollars per day. But international rental companies have opened offices in the country:
In Vietnam, it is completely legal to drive a rented vehicle with an International Driving Permit (IDP) that complies with the requirements of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (read more about renting a motorbike and car in Vietnam). These are exactly the ones issued in the Russian Federation. Just don't forget that an IDP is only valid together with your national license, so you need to bring both documents to Vietnam. You can get an IDP at the traffic police (GIBDD), their cost/state fee is 3200 rubles. No re-taking exams is required to obtain an IDP.

🚌 Arrive at the point of departure
Generally, many different routes from different companies run from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, departing from different bus stations, from their offices, from the tourist district, picking up from hotels. Unfortunately, we have not seen buses from the airport to Nha Trang.
Here are ready-made instructions on how to get there:
-
From Ho Chi Minh City center
Although buses depart from different places in Ho Chi Minh City, in our opinion the simplest and most convenient is to come to the tourist district of Ho Chi Minh City, which is District 1 where Ben Thanh Market is, and leave from there immediately, rather than going to the bus stations yourself. You can read more about this and other districts of Ho Chi Minh City here.
Tickets in this district can be bought immediately before departure at hotels, street travel agencies, bus company offices. There are many here, but most are on the tourist street Pham Ngu Lao on the side of Ben Thanh Market.
We advise starting immediately with the large bus company FUTA bus lines, we most often use it ourselves. The company has a website https://futabus.vn/, several offices in the tourist district and on Pham Ngu Lao street. All FUTA buses are sleeper buses. Check the schedule on the company's website, the current price is also there. Buses of this company depart from major bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City (from different ones at different times), but they have a free transfer from the tourist district for the connection. There is also a transfer from Nha Trang bus station to the hotel in the center, it is also included in the price. But you need to request this when buying tickets, otherwise they may not offer it.
If for some reason FUTA bus is not suitable or there are no tickets, you can ask for tickets in other places on Pham Ngu Lao street, surely you will find something with the nearest departure.

From Ho Chi Minh City airport
We have not encountered direct buses from Ho Chi Minh City airport to Nha Trang. Therefore, you need to get to the center by taxi from 100,000 dong or city buses for 5,000 – 15,000. In full detail, we have explained here how to get from Ho Chi Minh City airport to the city center.
When you get to the center, go straight to Pham Ngu Lao street and buy tickets for the nearest bus, as we wrote above. Or rest at the hotel after the long flight, and then go to Nha Trang.
Buses from Ho Chi Minh City arrive at different places in Nha Trang, it depends on the carrier company. For example, FUTA bus lines arrives at the new southern bus station, but there transfers to minivans and delivers to hotels in the center. Some companies only take you to the new southern bus station, and from there you get there on your own. And some deliver directly to hotels or with a transfer at their own station. Clarify all this when buying tickets.
Important! Previously, the main bus station in Nha Trang was located not far from the city center, but now it has been moved to a new location far outside the city (southern bus station of Nha Trang on the map), all old bus stations are closed. Now you cannot get to/from the new bus station by city buses, only by taxi from 160,000 dong for a car taxi (6.08 USD) or 52,000 for a motorbike taxi (1.98 USD). Therefore, it is better to buy tickets with transfer or directly to the tourist district.
By train from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang
- 💵 Cost: from 250,000 dong / 9.51 USD
- ⏲ Travel time: 7-8 hours
Daily, at least 6 trains depart from Ho Chi Minh City railway station Ga Sai Gon almost in the city center (station location on the map) to Nha Trang. Travel time is 7-8 hours on different trains. Cost from 257,000 dong (12.17 USD) for a seat to 800,000 for a sleeper (30.42 USD). More about trains in Vietnam and how to use them.
Tickets can be purchased directly at the station in Ho Chi Minh City or at the sales office in the tourist district at 275C Pham Ngu Lao. You can also book and purchase tickets online on websites:
- https://dsvn.vn/ - official railway website
- 12goa.asia - reliable ticket agency
But none of these websites accept Russian cards, and this is the main problem, since tickets for trains in Vietnam are advisable to buy in advance. Before departure or on the day of departure, tickets can also be bought at the station ticket offices, but there is no guarantee of availability, and there may only be seats.
Tickets are also sold at travel agencies on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, but also with a markup. Sometimes with travel agencies there are scams when tickets in a cheap class are sold to tourists at the price of an expensive class, so be careful.
Upon arrival at the station in Nha Trang, it is best to get to the hotel or tourist district by taxi. You can walk to the tourist district from the station in 15-25 minutes (railway station on the map). A taxi to the embankment and resort area will cost from 30,000 dong (1.14 USD).
