Where to Book Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City
There is a huge number of hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. Here you can find both a bunk for 5 dollars and a luxurious 5-star hotel for a ridiculous 100 dollars. But from our experience, compared to coastal resorts, even popular ones like Nha Trang or Mui Ne, accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City is still somewhat more expensive. Watch our video review of one of the budget hotels in Ho Chi Minh City:
Booking in advance is not necessary even in the peak season, you can always find accommodation on the spot or a couple of days before arrival. But if you want to be confident about the hotel and the price, it makes sense to book online.

Ho Chi Minh City Districts and Where Is It Better to Stay
Here is our overview of the districts of Ho Chi Minh City, where it is best to stay. We immediately note that we prefer to stay right in the thick of things in the tourist district, but perhaps this is not for you. Read everything carefully, and you will understand everything:
-
Ho Chi Minh City Tourist District
The Ho Chi Minh City tourist district is the center of all nightlife in Vietnam The cheapest hotels in Ho Chi Minh City can be found in the tourist district formed by Pham Ngu Lao and Bui Vien streets. It is also called District №1, or simply the Pham Ngu Lao street area. See the best hotels in the Ho Chi Minh City tourist district here.
This district is located a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market (tourist district on the map), and it is easy to get here from the airport on city bus №152 or №109, we have detailed instructions about this here.
Generally, this area is considered somewhat unfavorable, there are many pests, scammers, swindlers, and the like. Rats run through the streets here in broad daylight, huge cockroaches can be found in the rooms, and the whole area here can in no way be called clean. But despite all this, we always stay only here, and recommend it to everyone, and here's why:
There are plenty of inexpensive hotels in the narrow alleys here This is the center of the city's tourist life, and one might even say, all of Vietnam. The most fun, noisy, and party street with bars and nightclubs, Bui Vien Street (Bui Vien Walking Street), is located here. It's really fun here, in the evenings this street is simply a 'bomb,' there's nothing else like it anywhere in Vietnam. Watch our video about Bui Vien:
🎬 Our Video about Bui Vien Street in Ho Chi Minh City Also concentrated here are a huge number of travel agencies, cafes, restaurants, local eateries, bars, and night venues. Tourist buses and tours to all corners of Vietnam depart from here. On Pham Ngu Lao Street, in the part closer to Ben Thanh Market, there is a huge concentration of travel agencies, transportation companies, motorbike rentals, currency exchange, and generally everything travelers need (Pham Ngu Lao Street on the map). In short, this is the best place for active tourists and travelers.
Pham Ngu Lao Street has everything And finally, if you look at the attractions map, you will see that almost all of them are concentrated right here. If you stay in the tourist district, you can walk to almost all interesting places, with rare exceptions. And where you can't walk, you can take a taxi from 30,000 dong or take city buses, because one of the key bus terminals is also located here.
Finding a room or a place to stay to suit any taste in the tourist district will not be difficult. As soon as you appear here with a suitcase or backpack, they will almost grab you by the hands, offering rooms from 15 dollars for two. If you are traveling alone, they may put you in a hostel room from 7. But it's still better to read hotel reviews on booking systems and book online. If you don't do this, you might end up in an inexpensive hotel next to some nightclub or bar where you simply won't be able to sleep at night.

Ben Thanh Market Area
Ben Thanh Market Area Another popular area is the area near Ben Thanh Market (Ben Thanh Market on the map). Hotels here are cleaner, prices are slightly higher, and the atmosphere is a bit quieter. This is an excellent place if you want to enjoy peaceful sleep at night, and stroll around the city during the day or evening. The tourist district and entertainment center on Bui Vien Street are just a stone's throw away, so it won't be boring here either. By the way, there are quite decent 'star-rated' hotels here, threes and fours.

Other Ho Chi Minh City Districts
There are many more districts and many hotels located in various parts of Ho Chi Minh City. But, honestly, from our own experience, we cannot name a single reason for tourists and travelers to stay outside the tourist district. Nevertheless, if you have some other goals, here are a couple more places to stay:
-
Near the Airport
Park in the area near the airport If you just need to spend the night during a layover or after arrival, there are several dozen decent hotels and inexpensive guesthouses at good prices within walking distance. But you need to understand that this area is only suitable for simply spending the night in a hotel and moving on, since there is not much to do or see here.
Here are a few hotels near the airport with good ratings:
-
Landmark District
View of skyscrapers in the Landmark district Around Ho Chi Minh City's tallest skyscraper, Landmark81, a modern, elite district has formed, which is very different from the center. It is clean and not as noisy and hectic, as if it were a completely different city. We visited this district and recorded a video about it, watch here.
In our opinion, it is not very interesting for travelers, and also too expensive, but if the overly colorful tourist District №1 is too much for you, you can stay in the Landmark area. There is a very pleasant, spacious Vinhomes park and an embankment for walks. The large Vincom shopping mall has an ice rink, cinema, arcade games, many cafes, and food courts. In short, it's a pleasant and 'civilized' district. And you can quickly get to the tourist center from here by metro.
